Hey guys - this video chronicles my buddy Kosty and I as we visited the NY Boat Show on January 22, 2020. At first, we were just happy to get up and close to all these beautiful boats. It slowly dawned on us though just how expensive new boats got and the trip morphed into a hunt for an affordable fishing boat.
we looked at the yamaha 210fsh sport at the tulsa boat show, it was at 41k looking pretty hard at buying it, wish yall would have walked through one would have been cool to hear another opinion
I really like this video. I have been researching boats, prices, and how the industry works with the dealers and the relationship between the manufacturers, and seeing how these boat-shows offering "deals" from what I can see the MSRP is thrown out the window and these dealer freight prep and additional fees are almost always made up and very random, a boat will MSRP for 34k but one dealer selling for 50k price out the door another for 43k and come down to Florida another for 54k, it kind of gives you a bad taste and what I was thinking about these prices for the common man what you said at the end couldn't be more true. The used market is the way to go problem for us new boaters is we're trying not to get into another man's problem and its difficult to decipher what's a good quality used boat from what isn't, anyhoo with that being said love love love the Robalo 180 in this, this is an excellent video more videos like this, please!
Great video, I like how you are showing something a little different. You have a lot of knowledge to share outside of hooking up to fish. Also, nice shoes!
I found my last boat on craigslist and plan to go used again. I never miss the AC boat show. And leave there every year thinking what a great value my boat is. With kid a in college and 2 more right behind my 26 center console is here to stay. Great video
I’ll like you 32 Seavee. With how it’s laid out and your custom minn Kota setup man next level. Confident in 80+ miles offshore but also spot locked in the bay rock piles.
You are more than correct sir. Boat prices are crazy. My next boat will likely be a 31 Cape Horn used, but I also like contender. Used of course. I bought my 2007 polar 2300 dc with twin 150 Yamahas pretty cheap. It’s a 2007 and motors had 240 hours on them. I had them serviced with also replacing anodes, thermostats, 100 hr services, fuel filters. They run perfect. Have 432 hours now. Not the perfect boat, but I Paid cash and I’ve caught lots of fish, you’ve seen the pics.
BorodenTV I have Michael, yes. That’s definitely the way to go. Cape Horn 31 was high on my wish list before I found the CV. Very hard to find and they don’t depreciate much!
Yeah I just recently went to the Hartford boat show at Mohegan Sun and most of the fishing boats were converted to family pleasure boats. No open bows everything was plush and Comfort. I'd have to think twice before I'd bring a bloody fish on board. LOL
Too many Hobbies - yeah Brett, apparently that’s what the consumers demand. I asked Cobia if they’d build me their 30 footer without forward seating and they said no can do. They don’t have any demand for open layouts. Sea Hunt has a 27 and 30 coffin box edition but it only represents 15 percent of the sales in those sizes.
Too many Hobbies my understanding is that the interior liners in hulls are molded and building a second mold to place in the hull costs major $$$& and builders won’t make that investment if they don’t believe there will be a demand in these models
The best buy in a 21 foot boat IMHO is the new Sea Ox / Pair marine CC . Having the bracket gives you a lot of real estate for that size boat. They also make a great 24 footer
John glynn what’s the retail on those? Followed a couple of build threads on the hull truth and I agree with you John - it’s a simple, classic, non-cluttered layout
I went to the show also and really wanted to see Mako boats bit alas they were no where to be found. Looking for my 1st boat and probably will by used and after your videos for boat buying I will definitely get a survey. Thanks John
You should take a look at the 2020 Sea Pro 239 CC. I just purchased one and she is a beauty, I was lucky enough it came with the new Simrad NSS12 evo 3
Agree. I’d add Tidewater and Sea Pro to that. Cobia used to be but is priced a smidge higher than those brands you mentioned now but still cheaper than a Contender, Sea Vee, Regulator, etc
Wow, boats have skyrocketed since I had one. The last boat I owned was a 21’ Seaswirl Striper and I would NOT recommend them. Used in Raritan bay NJ mostly Fluke fishing and it rolled like a canoe. Get 3-4 guys on it and it took on water bad. It was affordable for a reason.
Thanks and already done. I really fudged up with this one. I didn’t bring a stick with me and was holding the camera in my hand. I have since upgraded cameras to one that has stability control and I’m also using a selfie stick when I film these types of videos. I realized when I was editing it just how shaky it was LOL
I made it to the show as well (first time) coming from the west coast, and was shocked at how many boater dealers had limited knowledge of their own boats. I Was looking at mid-tier center consoles in the 26-28’ range and was shocked as well in the range of pricing. Walked away thinking Robalo was probably best bang for buck but I might be wrong of course.
S Works I think Robalo, Sea Pro and Tidewater were best bang for buck. Yeah, a little shocking on dealer knowledge. The salesman who told me the 225 HO Etec had 40 more HP well.....I don’t even know what to say.....
I stopped going to boat shows in the late 80's. I paid 32k for my 1983 25' Hydra Sport with twin 225's and that included the trailer. An 1983 37 foot Topaz cost 130k, that was a lot of boat for the money in 1983, now you can't touch a name brand 25 footer for under a 100k. I agree with Ken, the average working man today looking to buy a house has a hard time let alone a boat that will set you back 100k or more, boat shows are for the rich and for dreamers like us, it's pretty sad when a 36 foot boat decked out cost more than my 450k home. oy!
Fluke Whisperer that 1983 130k Topaz translates into 334k today (yes, I looked it up lol). That still a steal - no chance you’re getting into an all glass 37 foot sporty new for under 600k.
Get Nautical agree on the design, but ouch on price. After taxes, trailer and electronics, you’re at almost 250k for a 27 footer. Even worse was the Everglades 27 bay boat. Closer to 300k when all done.
Prices are def ridiculous. I was there working on one of the booths for marina I manage in East Hampton and walking around just made me feel poor. Don’t remember the black fins being that pricey. I know the regulators, whalers, Everglades and the heavy hitters are a rich mans tow now. Even my 20ft Grady I got in 2001 which was 45k then with a trailer is now 80k
@@timothyberlinski2299 I was checking a brand new 21ft Sea Born the other day, the boat was fantastic! It had the fishing package (2 live-wells, all the light you need for night fishing, even underwater lights, plenty of road holders, a hardtop, a head with pump out toilet, 2 Navigation Units (flushed in), swim platform, raw water wash down and powered by 150 Suzuki 4 stroke. It was 62K! Relatively speaking, it was a pretty good deal! Check it out. This one is now on the top of my list!!! I can hook you up with the company if you are interested...
Great video except the camera man almost made me sick a couple times..lol, but your right Robalo is the best for the money. Have an old 1980 R200 I bought, and project it to be a 25+ exstended when I finish it. Will spending 40-45k for a new and improved updated boat...
Am in the market for used 19 - 22" center console. Would love to see your comments on top brands since 2006 with regards to hull fabrication, rot issues, ride quality etc. I have already decided that I will repower if the engine(s) have more than 1500 hrs.
What is your intended use? If you want offshore capability, I think my favorite boat in that category is the Contender 21 which they no longer make. Lots of them around with higher hour engines that you can re-power.
I thought boats were expensive until I built one myself from scratch (24 footer Carolina Sportfish). Worked every single weekend for five years to get it done. There is ALOT of work in a high quality boat. Even for pop outs (moulded boats) consider there were hundreds if not a 1000 hrs man hours to produce a plug and moulds.
@@jiggingjerks Hi there, I am currently doing final fairing then ready for paint. No links yet, maybe I could put something up on youtube. Thanks for sharing this video - you certainly have some nice boats over in the states!
I absolutely love your videos watch them almost everyday as they bring me joy. I asked skinner about this but I was wondering if you could help me out. I bought the nexus rod with the quantum and have yet to use it (can't wait for the season). I never used a Baitcaster how do you set the spool tension and brakes for fluke fishing? may sound like a dumb question but I'm use to my Calcutta. I would appreciate your advice and input. Thank You
Andrew Menture first thank you for the kind words - wow, very gracious! Second, I’ll be honest, I never thought about this. I don’t play with brake since I never actually cast it. We drop straight down like a conventional. Same with the line tension - I set mine up tight, like you would a Calcutta. I hope this helps
Phil D I didn’t but have seen them in Rhode Island. I remember them as uliterian, tough boats. There’s a few for sale on the hull truth right now and I’m surprised at the prices. Here’s a 28 Demo with 100 hours for 180k. Cobia 280 brand new at Miami Boat Show was 150k. www.thehulltruth.com/boat-commercial-classifieds-marine-services/1101020-new-northcoast-280cc-demo-boat-about-100-hours.html
@@jiggingjerks ....I've been doing a lot of research and they are mid/upper price range for semi-custom. I like that they are a local manufacturer' in the NE area. . They are gaining a few more amenities as the years go by. Right now just a future retirement goal for me...;)
Phil D it’s definitely a beautiful boat and it has that regulator style with a very steep entry and a deep Vee in stern. Never ridden on one but I’d bet my paycheck they ride nice
@@jiggingjerks Thanks for replies and am I enjoying reading and researching. I am in the aviation industry and lots of similarities with how boats are built in terms of efficiency and utilizing precious space. Also the new NMEA platforms and integrated MFDs are very cool .
Yeah - add a trolling motor too if you can. Biggest game changer for boats under 40 feet in last 5 years. I have some videos of my Sea Vee 32 with an 87 inch Minn Kota. Makes blackfishing so much easier
I boat a Robalo R180 in 2016. The boat is awesome, but I have had less than favorable opinions of the trailer. I have had two sets of the bunk brackets break, the Fenders are showing cracks in them, and the rear left light wiring had to be replaced. If I did it again I would still buy a Robalo, but I would I buy an aftermarket trailer.
Jigging Jerks they have a company called coyote trailers making them for them. I have dealt with their warranty department twice so far. Their saving quality is they have sent me free replacement parts every time I have contacted them. So their customer service is good, but if I buy something brand new, I would expect to get a few years out of it before I have to deal with so many issues.
wooly2352 trailer companies are hit or miss. I had one custom made for my CV and they delivered without a COO. 8 months and multiple calls later and still nothing
It’s really not will get you on the water that’s important, it’s what will get you back. Certainly depends on the waters you fish, but I wouldn’t trust some of these to hold up very long. Crazy prices, but you probably get what you pay for, which unfortunately will keep many off the water with these prices.
Yes the price's on fishing boats are so so high for alot people to be able to afford. I guess that's why people are turning there attention on kayak fishing. It is a more affordable. Love your RUclips videos very entertaining.
As soon as they hit water lose thousands of dollars. The way us fisherman beat up boats, I would never buy new. I scallop dredge, clam with a commercial rake, and fish hard. I would kill me to do that on a brand new boat!
Nate Melanson I didn’t see them there but agree - great prices and they seem well put together. Looked at one very closely in 2016 before buying our old Cobia.
Love your videos...thanks for sharing your experiences. I bought a 2015 Robalo R242 with only 30 hrs. on it (Yamaha F300) and I thought I paid alot. Wow...the economy picking up is a blessing and a curse...for new boat buyers. Just FYI...you keep saying center council...like a city council. Should be console. Cheers!
The boat rides like a dream...can only get 42 mph out of her, but it eats 3-4 footers at WOT out front all the way to the wrecks. My only concern is that it's "making oil". Hull Truth 14 page thread talks all about it. Fuel is making it's way into crankcase slowly over time. They say it probably wasn't broken in properly (hard enough) and that the rings weren't "seated". The marina I bought it from is aware...they tried to do a de-carb and have me run the hell out of it, which I did...about 3 bills worth of gas. It got a little better but I'm going to be sure there's a case for Yamaha to reference and keep trying to fix it until the warranty has to be extended. My wife loves to putt around and enjoy the back bays of Ocean City, NJ and I like to troll for stripers so we'll see. It's a great boat for fishing and entertaining. We had 10 on her while tubing this summer, fairly comfortably.
ITUMBLE4U we had that issue (making oil) with the F300 on our Cobia 256. Is it possible you’re overpropped? Are you able to hit 6000 RPM WOT lightly loaded?
I can get 5800 WOT. Only way to get 5900 or 6000 is to trim the engine to where it's cavitating and I actually lose speed. The marina just told me the gave me bad info. They said they shouldn't have told me to run the hell out of it, they said I need to run it hard under load...not just plane off and run. The engine never gets hot when it's not running under load they said.
Parker, maycraft some of the cheaper priced boats I seen. I herd even the seahunts have now increased a lot. Did you check out sea pro? They give you a good amount for the price.
Christian I agree on Maycraft. I owned two (a 1900 and a 2300 Pilothouse) that I bought new for a combined 56k with trailers. This was 2006 (16.5k for the 1900) and 2009 (39k for the 23 PH). Again, these were brand new boats!!!! Parker’s are awesome but priced closer to Steigers.
I would rather buy a worn old boat with a decent outer hull and then have it gutted and rebuilt custom to your preference. You can still come out money ahead even if you have to hire most of the work out.
In the spring of 2019 I found a key west 239 250 hp I put a new trailer lowarnce 12 inch screen so there’s 2on the boat lowrance halo radar on a tower a minnkota terrova 112 t motor for under 80.000 and the boat is like brand new. Now you would be lucky to get a stripped boat for 80.000
Dude... i honestly, really wanted to finish this because I wanted to see what u determined and found but geez.. I couldn't do it. Hopefully u made enough money on this video to figure out a new recording technique cuz I wanna see all this
Yeah - I get it. Long story short, I forgot to bring the dang selfie stick and the result was poor video. Will be better prepared for next show (hopefully Miami next week)
nocknload it’s the opposite and I’m surprised. All my boat dealer friends can’t keep boats in stock! The theory goes that people can’t vacation like they normally would and instead are buying boats so they can vacation as a family without COVID concerns. It’s the same thing with the summer house rental market. It’s at an all-time high here in eastern Long Island and people are willing to pay ridiculous prices because they may not have any other vacation alternatives. I think the only way you will see the price is really come down is if the economy takes a big hit, I’m talking about a 2008/2009 type 50% drop in the stock market.
They are built local to me so I’m partial to them. Having said that, I wish they built them without wood and I wish they had slightly better builge access.
@@jiggingjerks watched a video last night where Mr Steiger himself said no longer is wood used, also that they offer a lifetime hull warranty, claims to today he’s never once had a hull warranty claim, seems to me they are build for serious anglers
I know they say that, but they still use wood in the transom and some of the structures. John Skinner has a video tour of their factory and you can actually see the wood yourself. I love their layout though, but in 2021, there’s literally no reason composites shouldn’t be used
Awesome I couldn’t afford any boat like that I would have to go the use boat route but I wanna fish with you first johnnie boy I gotta learn how to fluke good like you and skinner then I’ll buy a boat 🎣
People who buy NEW either have the money to do so, or have gotten hosed by a dealer who didn’t tell them any different. Buy a used clean hull and repower for half the cost of new...
Ive been wanting a boat, till I started seeing current boat prices. Ill just fish from the shore, thanks or from my kayak. Boats have just become status symbols for the wealthy and its disgusting.
No wonder I see so many kayak fishermen. Freaking ridiculous prices. My 1970 V-Bow 14 ft. aluminum Grumman Jon boat with a 5 horse Honda will be my fishing platform for a long time. Pricing everyone but the megabucks crowd out of the water. Towing those toys with a Rolls Royce?
The boat market these days is out of control and it's getting worse year after year. The Miami boat show is in a few weeks, I'm interested to see how much the cost have gone up since last. You also get what you pay for, It seems as theirs a new boat company popping up everyday. Or an old company that went out of business and another brand bought the molds and just slapped another name on it. This happens all the time. You have budget boats such as Robalo, Tidewater, Sea Hunt, Sportsman, Sea Fox, and much more. These boats are usually a two piece boat, (More economical to make) modified v, fit and finish is not as good, and the rigging work is usually pretty sloppy. These are great boats especially if your new to boating. Boats like SeaVee, Yellow-Fin, Contender, Invincible, are more custom/semi custom boat builders. Most of these boats are three piece constructions, and their using higher end materials and resins. The standard these days is Vacuum infusion and bagging. The cost of materials has also gone up as well as having good labor workers. Marketing is another high cost expense these days, so theirs many factors you have to take into consideration. I'm a full time flats fishing guide in Miami and the Florida Keys, and my skiff is a fifteen year old boat I bought brand new. Like any other boat, you get what you pay for and skiff market these days is just as bad. You can pay anywhere between high 40's to mid 60's for one of the top three or four flats boat companies these that are out there. I'm talking a 16'-18' skiff with a 70hp-115 hp motor and maybe a trailer. I run a dolphin, tired and true flats boat and back in 2005, it was 30K. Same boat now is 50k boat, motor, trailer. I know technology has improved on how boats are maid, but the market is pushing the blue collar worker away form owing a quality boat these days. It's not just the boat, the electronics market, tackle, rod, reels, everything is higher cost. The industry market goes up, and so does the cost in operating a charter service compared to fifteen twenty years ago. It's also getting to much for the average Joe to pay for a guide these days, but we have to charge what we charge to cover the cost of our day to day operating cost. Theirs another option to buy an old boat and restoring it. IMO, if it's minor work, then that's a viable option, but restoring a boat from top to bottom can cost you just as much as buying a new one with a quality reputable shop. Back in the days it used to be worth it because it was affordable, bot now a days, not so much. It's about time for me to buy a new boat, but I just cant justify spending that kind of money, but at the same time it's my business as well. My boat at this point after re powering her with eight engines in the past fifteen year, full re-wire, nonskid redone five years ago, and over 200 days on the water per year. It's time for a new one after this season and I'm not looking forward to paying double then what I paid fifteen years ago. On the flip side, the used boat market is really good and if you have a reputable boat, you can get top dollar for it.
Capt. Raul Montoro this was great! I booked a flight to S Florida arriving the night before Presidents Day. Hope to be at MIBS the last day Monday. You’re 100 percent right on 2 piece vs 3 piece and other things you noted
I like to think o ever hit the lottery, that Regulator would make a nice gift to myself. Of course, I’d propbably mot be able to afford anything else lol
Robert McCandless 136k with no electronics though. That’s a lot of coin!!!! Thanks - I’ll have the Sea Vee from the start of the season next year so content I’m hoping is not an issue
And I can see why there is barely anyone walking around, over 200k for a mid-25 foot boat????? Very sad that almost every person could only dream of buying a new boat. Looks like I will be on party boats the rest of my life.
Richie rich my head is big enough without comments like this - thanks man! I love talking fishing and boats - would have have been my honor to meet you
All these youtubers need to take the mantle of pushing back against the ridiculous pricing these days. There’s been a lot of pandering to the dealers and manufacturer’s, and they have such a small capacity to output these days that they figure they can charge whatever they want. That should go away once the world gets back to working normally.
Brian Sher a buddy has a 23 for over 20 years now and it’s held up great. He makes 30 mile runs to Montauk in it all the time and he regularly fishes some gnarly rips near us. It’s possible the quality has gone down since he bought his boat, but again for the price, it’s hard to beat. Incidentally, Striper went out of business after I published this video LOL
Awesome video but Im surprised you didnt find the Sea Pro 239cc dlx priced at 77,400 12 inch Simrad nss evo3 B60 transducer. Bolster Package. The floor plan allows you to walk up to the anchor locker. All standard features. Great warranty. Seapromfg.com
@@jiggingjerks I purchase one last year and I fish from Peconic River to Greenport and Shinnecock. The boat has been awesome and very affordable the run and maintain. Good luck this upcoming season. Maybe I will see you out there.
Robert Russo definitely and same to you. Say what’s up if you see us. The Cobia Sweeney and I owned had that walk up to anchor feature. Loved it. Small detail that you don’t appreciate unless your boat is equipped this way!
John Bissell you probably can. I actually toured the Dusky factory back in 2016. They were very nice, but was not personally impressed with the fit and finish and their lengths include the Dusky Drive bracket. It is certainly more affordable than many of the boats in this video and they do seem to last forever.
Boats have gone the way of pickup trucks. They stick so many amenities into them, that they cost that much more. When was the last time you saw a "stripped down" truck or boat? Build something expensive and luxurious and American consumers can't buy enough of it. Build something affordable and economical, and fails to move off of the shelf. Living within your means or debt free isn't socially popular. We live in a world where no matter how much money you make, people are willing to buy what they can't afford. All that matters is that they want it, and that it's just another monthly payment. Who saves for their kids college? Who saves for their retirement other than what the company offers on their 401K. It's live for today and don't worry / think about / plan for the future. Long story short......the fish at the end of my line never knows what kind of boat I'm on, nor what kind of fishing rod and reel that I'm using.
One. Can buy a lifetime of fresh fish for him and his family in comparison to purchasing a boat! By the time you factor in all the maintenance, Fuel, insurance, dmv fees, and etc.! The boat will cost you 30 percent more of the Retail price within 3 years! Boats are All Floating Wholes in the Ocean! Money Pit!
My late father and I had 8 boats, their enjoyable and freedom bound! But in Reality there all Money Pits, like they Break out Another Thousand, BOAT during every maintenance repair!
Ariff Affendi I know. Selfie stick that would have stabilized the camera was left at home. Unfortunately this was the only day I could attend and shot the vid holding the camera in my hand
Agreed. This was my first “filmed” boat show ever and I was using a camera without stabilization and with a stick. A ton of boat shows and boat reviews since this video and I think they’ve been much better
Boats are so overpriced these days. They are driving the everyday man out of the market for a new boat. I believe that this clientele is their meat and potatoes over the people who have the means and buy a 1/2 million dollar boat as a novelty. I think the first manufacturer who finds a way to build a serious quality boat that will allow the average consumer to buy new will change the direction of the market.
There are some brands out there like Rambo that can get you into a new 27’ boat for 50kish. They are a dying breed. Someone else made the analogy comparing boats to pickups - it’s not that crazy - a top of the line 1/2 ton now retails for over 70k!!!
you don't get it i see. it's called INFLATION. my salary has gone up 100% in the last 10 years without asking for a raise. they're just trying to keep me. wish you the best of luck.
u235u235u235 I get inflation :) In 2009, I bought a brand new 23 foot pilot house with a double axle trailer for 40,000. Again, this was brand new with four stroke power. Factoring in inflation that 40,000 is worth just under 50,000 in 2020 dollars. There is zero chance you are finding a pilot house brand new for that cheap today
u235u235u235 yes - how about the new Cobia 256 with trailer we bought in January 2016 for 82.5? That’s 110-120 now - almost 50 percent increase in 4 years....

They don’t have any demand for open layouts. Sea Hunt has a 27 and 30 coffin box edition but it only represents 15 percent of the sales in those sizes.
@@jiggingjerks I got the same reply when asking about a custom build.
Too many Hobbies my understanding is that the interior liners in hulls are molded and building a second mold to place in the hull costs major $$$& and builders won’t make that investment if they don’t believe there will be a demand in these models
@@jiggingjerks that's pretty much what the guy at the Blackfinn display told me
The best buy in a 21 foot boat IMHO is the new Sea Ox / Pair marine CC . Having the bracket gives you a lot of real estate for that size boat. They also make a great 24 footer
John glynn what’s the retail on those? Followed a couple of build threads on the hull truth and I agree with you John - it’s a simple, classic, non-cluttered layout
If you are looking for a good fishing boat I recommend Parker Boats. I have a 23 foot center console and it has never let me down.
I went to the show also and really wanted to see Mako boats bit alas they were no where to be found. Looking for my 1st boat and probably will by used and after your videos for boat buying I will definitely get a survey. Thanks John
What are you looking for specifically James? Budget? I’ll keep my eyes open
@@jiggingjerks 21' center console or less with a porta potty. $25000. Thanks John.
@@jiggingjerks I like mako boats. Preferred choice
James Ryan will keep my eyes open. Shoot me your email: jiggingjerks@gmail.com
You should take a look at the 2020 Sea Pro 239 CC. I just purchased one and she is a beauty, I was lucky enough it came with the new Simrad NSS12 evo 3
I really like these new Sea Pros - simple but effective designs.
I think best bang for the buck is the Sea Hunt or Sportsman. That being said i love my Contender. Boat prices are for sure out of control.
Agree. I’d add Tidewater and Sea Pro to that. Cobia used to be but is priced a smidge higher than those brands you mentioned now but still cheaper than a Contender, Sea Vee, Regulator, etc
The Sportsman 282cc is definitely a good "bang for you buck". I need to see one in person, not too many reviews done on them.
Thanks you give one of the best videos of the boat do some more
Very kind of you to say! Planning on being at the Miami International Boat Show later this month with a whole day and a real camera.
Great video, but please invest in some sort of steady cam mount for the next boat show
Thanks and already done.
Same boats as last year. Coolest ones there to me were the black fins. Love there designs
Tidewater seems to give the most value for your money.
Sea fox too they have come aling way. The two i really want are the sea fox 328 and tidewater 320. But hell, 270k
Guess I'm keeping my 2006 Edgewater 265 for a little while longer. and that's OK. LOL

Check this one out.

No doubt if you are building one from scratch, including mold, it will be super expensive. Want to see this beauty - website or link with pics/video?
Thanks for the video. Did you see any NorthCoast Boats at the show? What's your opinion on that brand. Thanks

That blackfin is beautiful but damn that's some money.
Great video!!! Awesome, thanks for sharing!!!
On the Train now headed in to the show. Hope it’s a good one
Mike Smith wasn’t bad. Just not many “deals” in my opinion. Have fun!!!
Only 99 days till fluke season!
I boat a Robalo R180 in 2016. The boat is awesome, but I have had less than favorable opinions of the trailer. I have had two sets of the bunk brackets break, the Fenders are showing cracks in them, and the rear left light wiring had to be replaced. If I did it again I would still buy a Robalo, but I would I buy an aftermarket trailer.
wooly2352 do they make trailers? I presume they are not actually building the trailer, right?
Jigging Jerks they have a company called coyote trailers making them for them. I have dealt with their warranty department twice so far. Their saving quality is they have sent me free replacement parts every time I have contacted them. So their customer service is good, but if I buy something brand new, I would expect to get a few years out of it before I have to deal with so many issues.
wooly2352 trailer companies are hit or miss. I had one custom made for my CV and they delivered without a COO. 8 months and multiple calls later and still nothing
Great Job
It’s really not will get you on the water that’s important, it’s what will get you back. Certainly depends on the waters you fish, but I wouldn’t trust some of these to hold up very long. Crazy prices, but you probably get what you pay for, which unfortunately will keep many off the water with these prices.
Yes the price's on fishing boats are so so high for alot people to be able to afford. I guess that's why people are turning there attention on kayak fishing. It is a more affordable. Love your RUclips videos very entertaining.
Thank you Steve, appreciate it! What’s nuts though is that even kayaks can now cost 4 to 5 grand tricked out
@@jiggingjerks yes it is very true.
As soon as they hit water lose thousands of dollars. The way us fisherman beat up boats, I would never buy new. I scallop dredge, clam with a commercial rake, and fish hard. I would kill me to do that on a brand new boat!
Sportsman has good bang for the $. Bought a 23’ 2019 last year with a lot of options dual garmins etc under 70k.
Nate Melanson I didn’t see them there but agree - great prices and they seem well put together. Looked at one very closely in 2016 before buying our old Cobia.
Jigging Jerks yup so far so good. Im over in CT keep it near the CT river and have ran to montauk, off RI etc. Good luck this year!
Nate Melanson perfect LI Sound boat that can venture offshore when its not blowing. Say hello if you see me out there - best of luck to you too!
Cheers!
ITUMBLE4U haha, that’s the Long Island accent coming through. Those Robalos are tanks. How has she treated you?
ITUMBLE4U 5800 is good...it’s really close enough. We were only at 5100-5200 before we changed props....hmmmmmmm
Awesome I need a boat but can’t afford one one day🎣🤙🏼
Parker, maycraft some of the cheaper priced boats I seen.
Now you would be lucky to get a stripped boat for 80.000
Would never happen today!

Jigging Jerks I will keep her in Howard beach in Jamaica bay and fish that whole area and in New Jersey
Hoping the COVID-19 Pandemic will bring prices down. Wondering if boats are cheaper in other cities due to local economy?
nocknload it’s the opposite and I’m surprised.
What do you think about Steiger boats?
Wise words Tim!

Drone livestreaming Very briefly. Having owned the brand, I wanted to check out other boats. They did have the new 350 there....
I can’t believe how puny that square bait well on the black Finn was
The boat market these days is out of control and it's getting worse year after year.
Glad I didn’t waste my money going to the show to look at all the boats I can’t afford.

All these youtubers need to take the mantle of pushing back against the ridiculous pricing these days. There’s been a lot of pandering to the dealers and manufacturer’s, and they have such a small capacity to output these days that they figure they can charge whatever they want. That should go away once the world gets back to working normally.
A striper IS NOT going to handle and perform the same as the other boats....you REALLY should edit that out

One can buy a new Dusky 278 XF for @ $90K.
John Bissell you probably can. I actually toured the Dusky factory back in 2016. They were very nice, but was not personally impressed with the fit and finish and their lengths include the Dusky Drive bracket. It is certainly more affordable than many of the boats in this video and they do seem to last forever.
Yeah and as a testament to them you rarely see them on the used market.
Hey Johnnie boy you buy a new one and I’ll buy your Seabee
Stephen Leone well said! Great analogy with pickups too. I was quoted 55k for a Ford F-150 with the 2.7 engine and Lariat package in late 2018.
Money Pit!
Simon - you’re not wrong but those of us that have them love them anyway.
My late father and I had 8 boats, their enjoyable and freedom bound! But in Reality there all Money Pits, like they Break out Another Thousand, BOAT during every maintenance repair!
Where you gonna eat the fish? In a house? The ultimate money pit that doesn’t take you anywhere.

Know all about them. Big fan of the 222.
Jigging Jerks i have the 220 love it, its perfect for fluking in the bay or running out in the ocean. Im out of oakdale.
Someone else made the analogy comparing boats to pickups - it’s not that crazy - a top of the line 1/2 ton now retails for over 70k!!!
you don't get it i see. it's called INFLATION.
my salary has gone up 100% in the last 10 years without asking for a raise. they're just trying to keep me.
wish you the best of luck.
u235u235u235 I get inflation :)
In 2009, I bought a brand new 23 foot pilot house with a double axle trailer for 40,000. Again, this was brand new with four stroke power. Factoring in inflation that 40,000 is worth just under 50,000 in 2020 dollars.
There is zero chance you are finding a pilot house brand new for that cheap today
@@jiggingjerks 2009 was just after the crash
u235u235u235 yes - how about the new Cobia 256 with trailer we bought in January 2016 for 82.5? That’s 110-120 now - almost 50 percent increase in 4 years....
WHAT A POOR CAMERA WORK!
The simple answer - no. One does not exist.
Spoiler alert!!!! Lol - succinctly said Renz!
Terrible camera work.
