What should've happened later is while Ridge, Brooke, Taylor, Eric and Stephanie are in the office and the army man comes in.
    Man: Excuse me, Rick Forrester?
    Rick: Yes.
Man: I wanted to talk to you about your physical, it seems something was overlooked and I had to inform you.
Rick: Are you saying that I can still get into the army?(Eric and Brooke a little nervous)
Man: Uh no, Rick. In fact, you will NEVER be able to join the army or military.
Rick: What do you mean? The doctor said that my back was damaged from the fall I took a few months ago but he said after a while, I could come back to try join again.
Man: This isn't about the fall. From what we've noticed, you have only 1 kidney. Is that correct?
    Rick: Yes, it is.
Man: And that's because you are a recipient not a donor?
Rick: Yes, well when I was a teenager, I was in a bad car accident and both my kidneys were ruined so my girlfriend... uh ex-girlfriend, Amber donated one of her kidneys and it saved my life.
Man: Well, you having only 1 kidney lowers your chances but it being a donated kidney eliminates them.
Rick: What? What do you mean? The kidney works great. I always get check-ups about it.
    Brooke: That's right he does.
Man: Yes, but if it's a donated kidney that means your body could reject it at any time. Either tomorrow or 20 years from now, there's no way of knowing. The stress of being in the military can up the chances of that happening.
Rick: But I always take my anti rejection medication.
Eric: Yes, he always has and there's been no sign of a rejection.
Man: It's true the medication prevents it from happening but it can still fail if being the military causes more stress on the body and we can't just keep ordering you medication, especially if you go out into combat because there'd be no way of it reaching you. Also, if your kidney started to fail while you were out serving there wouldn't be much we could do. It's just too great a risk.
    (Rick looks a little disappointed)
Man: I'm sorry, Rick but because of your donated kidney, you will never be able to serve in the military. All I can say is, good luck to you sir.
Rick: I see. Well, thanks for telling me anyway.
(Man leaves) (Eric and Brooke go over to Rick)
Ridge:(with a smug look) Well, looks like I'm not to blame for you not getting into the army after all.
Rick: Don't start with me, Ridge.
Ridge: You heard what he said, your chances have been gone since you were a teenager.
    Rick: Hey, shut up!
    (Eric breaks it up)

Bad writing. I think that Rick having only 1 kidney disqualifies him from the military. Plus, Rick doesn't have 1 kidney because he's a donor, he's a recipient. The kidney he has is a donated one which would really disqualify him. The only way someone with 1 kidney can be in the army is if they became a donor or recipient while in the army.
