Sorry for double posting but I need to add that this is the BEST sounding chorus pedal I've ever heard. Definitely going to get one. Thanks for the awesome demo. Great playing, as always !
andy your choice of song to demo is sublime ,the post punk guitar approach still sounds awesome and energised , John Mcgeoch and his peers still rock my world!
I asked on instagram on what the idea behind the pedal was and the maker said he wanted to make something as though Andy summers and robin guthrie made it so this thing is pretty rad
Looks like "dipping in" to this pedal you'll really be "getting wet" but to get the "waters open up" sonically on this pedal I'm afraid I'd only release the Kraken due to its complexity. (PS: Love that PIL was given a nod.)
That PIL intro was probably the best sound I have ever heard come out of a Chorus/Flanger. The diversity of this pedal is amazing. Digitech is one of those brands that people snub sometimes because it's too "modern" but I have been continually impressed with their effects. They deserve a second look from the old school analog only crowd.
i've never heard the "modern" argument against digitech, i just think people remember their (from what i remember) kinda cheesy pedals from back in the day. anyway, they had a few gems and this one is definitely a gem.
@@zhou_seiI can add to the Digitech opinion mix that ABBA producer Michael Tretow liked Digitech stuff a lot, until they (in the 80s) got noisey/hissy. So while they may be upping their game now, they have a history of greatness too.
You really nailed the PIL sound (the bass & drums too !), i expect the rasping Lydon (rotten no more then)voice to enter... And i see the little smile when you play...
" Or maybe the interest went so much deeper/ must have been the colour of my hair-,". Everyone needs to hear those first 4or 5 PiL albums,- so groundbreaking , still catching up,- including Lydon himself,- 2019.Damn force of pure nature, those.
Your explanation of the features were great. I have the Polara, very solid, organic, dependable, and warm. It replaced a HOF. Looking to replace my Corona and Flashback with Digitech, I don't need presets and I've had too many reliability issues with the TC Electronics.
same thing with me, my HOF was so lame and my world really opened up with the Polara.. a lot more of a difference than I imagined there would be. Digitech has that neat Obscura delay which sounds fantastic. Used to have the Flashback too, I use Catalinbread delays run in parallel (set slightly different) now but if I switched it up it would probably be Obscura. Just ordered Digitech's Ventura Vibe mostly for the Rotary speaker emulation, can't wait to get my paws on it. That one might be worth checking out for you too.
+Mesmerized Yeah, man, thanks for the heads up on those. I've been checking out the Ventura Vibe also. The older Digitech Hardwire stuff was (is) also very amazing. The only reason I have the TC stuff on the board as opposed to my Digitech Chorus and Digidelay is ONLY because of the footprint. Making the full switch before the end of the year. Enjoy your toneful world.
Wow very nice. I'd love to hear this in a side-by-side comparison with the New Boss CE-2W ( this sounded better & certainly more versatile ). Also vs. The Free the Tone Tri-Avatar Multi Dimensional Chorus. Andy you are So Good at what you do. Appreciate the great information. - Michael Caz - NYC -
These comparisons are useless man cause you gonna use at the end only one and no one will hear the difference in a full band mix or in a studio mix.Its all get processed later by plugins.
Hi Andy! As always, tasty tones - this is off the subject a bit, but could you talk a bit about what your recording chain is like; mic(s), any outboard, etc..? Thank you, keep 'em coming! :)
ok . . but i saw them play in socal, pasadena and play this song (and a guy almost cracked open his head by jumping off a 2O! ish hi pa stack!! . . but what is the name of the pil song? . . thank you andy!!!! :-)
Flanger and chorus are for the most part the same thing. The only differences is that flanger can incorporate feedback/regeneration whereas chorus doesn't. Also, flanger uses a shorter delay time than chorus. The A/DA flanger (old one and PBF) does a very nice sounding chorus.
OMG, how have I never heard of this pedal, before??!! This demo is making me love chorus and flanger all over again. Is it 1988, or 2018?! 😂❤️ That bass tone at the beginning NAILED IT. The only modulation I have on my board now is vibrato, a tc Shaker, but I haven't been quite happy with the LFO. I think I just found its replacement. It will look great next to my Whammy Ricochet and FreqOut.
About time someone played something totally tasteful for a pedal demo. So sick of the same ol’ same ol’ hairhat hollerin’ from yesteryear. Boring. Plus, guess what? I ain’t buying your boring old pedal when you demo boring old classic rock on the thing. Show me something NEW and different. I don’t wanna sound like played out FM rock like Bob Jovi or John Cougar Mellonhead.
Public Image Ltd! Nicely done, sir.
Sorry for double posting but I need to add that this is the BEST sounding chorus pedal I've ever heard. Definitely going to get one. Thanks for the awesome demo. Great playing, as always !
Digitech has really stepped it up the last 2 years
Thanks for not saying "they're killing it" lately.
Lol!
Rebranding at its finest
andy your choice of song to demo is sublime ,the post punk guitar approach still sounds awesome and energised , John Mcgeoch and his peers still rock my world!
This is why Andy is the best reviewer - who else would think of playing Pil?. Perfect application for a chorus/flange. WANT!
I asked on instagram on what the idea behind the pedal was and the maker said he wanted to make something as though Andy summers and robin guthrie made it so this thing is pretty rad
hahahaha man, when I heared the 8 voices chorus mode definetely Cocteau Twins came to my mind
That is a very powerful description. Thanks for sharing.
Well, it seems like my ' should I have a chorus or a flanger on my board' dilemma has been solved.
Definitely want both they have their own sound which when they come together, Mua! Bellisimo!😌👌
That tone from Public Image has always been one of my favorites! Great job!
Thx Andy! The overview of the knobs/modes on the DigiTech Nautila really helps. Now I can really use this thing. Another fine review!
Looks like "dipping in" to this pedal you'll really be "getting wet" but to get the "waters open up" sonically on this pedal I'm afraid I'd only release the Kraken due to its complexity. (PS: Love that PIL was given a nod.)
Digitech has really been putting out some great pedals recently.
After listening to many of Andy's superb intro song choices I am convinced that he is British at heart.
Nice pedal, aesthetically and technically and of course superb playing.
I bought this pedal yesterday. Talk about useful, versatile, solid, and affordable. !!!

djsranger I agree. Their carcossa is incredibly underrated, but it's starting to come around again after the initial wow factor faded

The best purchase I have made in 2019, and I am still discovering fresh new settings as we speak, If it that was labeled Strymon it would be $450.00
Have you tried the Mobius, I didnt really care for it and $$$$, love my Deco, thinking of adding this.
@@shckltnebay the Deco is an awesome pc of gear 👍🏻
P.I.L ! Well done (as always), Andy !

Andy playing PiL? It's like Christmas came early for me. Rad!
This has got to be one of the best Demo Intro!!
Thanks, it certainly felt good to play!!
I think you shoulda pulled out some "Planet Caravan" for this one andy
Nice PIL cover...and excellent demo of course !!
2:47 - 3:25 absolute Golden syrup in my ears 😊
I just bought one, two hours ago! And it's MINT! Hurry up and ship it already!!! 🥰🎸🕊️

PIL and nails it, awesome pedal!
This pedal is still so fun to use. Very versatile and can get weird really quickly. And I think I got it for 120? Not a bad price at all.
This pedal sounds great !
Dang, Digitech!
I added this video to my GAS Paylist before the first song was over.
Looks like you're really enjoying this one Andy. 😎. Sounds fabulous.
05:13 : wow ! I've been looking for this kind of chorus for quite a long time now !
oh Man this sounds good!
I totally agree ! I think I need to get one !
For those who have used both the Nautila and the Boss bf-2 flanger, how do the flanges compare?
Wow very nice. I'd love to hear this in a side-by-side comparison with the New Boss CE-2W ( this sounded better & certainly more versatile ). Also vs. The Free the Tone Tri-Avatar Multi Dimensional Chorus. Andy you are So Good at what you do. Appreciate the great information. - Michael Caz - NYC -

That intro was killing me for a minute until finally recognized it
Channeling Kieth Levine quite nicely. So many applications this can be used in. Why not just run a CE-2 with a Flanger you may ask ? You can try.
Sounds like Synchronicity II. 👍🏻
It's Public Image by Public Image Limited - John Lydon's band. I think this was the first single they released after he left the Sex Pistols
Yes it's the first single from their debut album in 1978
Scrantonicity II
I wonder if it can nail some Electric Mistress style sounds.
PUUUBBLICCC IMMAAAAGGGGEEEEE!!!
The opening song songs like Grace Under Pressure-era Alex LIfeson
More Like James Honeyman-Scott:-)

Hi Andy! As always, tasty tones - this is off the subject a bit, but could you talk a bit about what your recording chain is like; mic(s), any outboard, etc..? Thank you, keep 'em coming! :)
I love the 80s chorus, maybe a little flange but I'd never be able to use some of it.
So is this basically the Hardwire CR-7 but with a flanger added to it?
Which pedal will get me that sweet tone of rhinoceros by smashing pumpkins off the gish album? This or the Walrus poly-chrome?
i own one and i wonder. does it happen only to me that the switch from chorus to flange takes too long...like one second or so?
Nope not just you
I have an old DOD chorus and a small clone, should I bother getting this? It sounds so pretty, maybe that's just Andy tho, u can never tell lol
Anyone know the song at 2:45 ?
Yeah, Pil!
has anyone else bought&played this pedal? and liked it? . . i do like the video!!!!
What brand guitar are Andy's Tele and Strat? Obviously boutique, but I forget the name. (Redtail?)
Gotta love the Pil
Nice flannel
Please demo the neo instruments mini vent.
no soloing example for the flanger?
ok . . but i saw them play in socal, pasadena and play this song (and a guy almost cracked open his head by jumping off a 2O! ish hi pa stack!! . . but what is the name of the pil song? . . thank you andy!!!! :-)
sarah waters The song is actually called "Public Image". It was the band's first single and released in 1978.
the public iiiimmmmmaaaaaaaaaaagge
Can this be comparable to an Electric Mistress at all?
3:44 what is the song please???
you never listened to a word i said!!!!!
YOu only see me for the clothes I wear
Pil yes, first time I heard a review with some taste, lol
SOLD!
Opening song - Sounds like the bass line to the Pixies "Planet of Sound."
Their older cr7 pedal was versatile but the sound was a bit digital, kinda a meh. Hm this one seems different..
it doesnt blend chorus and flanger effects together? Is there any pedal that does?
Adam Ellison The Electric Mistress by Electro Harmonix allows you to blend both flanger and chrous together.
Flanger and chorus are for the most part the same thing. The only differences is that flanger can incorporate feedback/regeneration whereas chorus doesn't. Also, flanger uses a shorter delay time than chorus. The A/DA flanger (old one and PBF) does a very nice sounding chorus.
just when i thought i had zero use for chorus or flanger..
P.i.L.! Sweet!
No one can touch Andy in selling pedals
"Охриненные Эффекты!"
song 1:40 ?
Is this a digital effect?
Public Imaaaaaaaggggggeeeeeee!!!!!
Does anybody know if this pedal is good for a bass guitar? Absolutely nobody's made a demo.
buy it and find out mate, let me know
Does anyone use Chorus anymore in modern music?
a bunch of indie artists use it. Courtney Barnett and Ryan Adams are some examples
Mac Demarco and Diiv also come to mind
DcsOrCity John Petrucci of Dream Theater does
All the more reason to use it.
Sounds like The Pretenders :)
PiL, Yes!!
HELLO... HELLO... HELLO!!!
It's not a Delay Bubala, it's not a Chorus either Bubala. What is it then ? Oy Vey, it's a Nautila, Bubala. It's mushugganah ! Nice McGeoch PDX.
Levine actualloriginally.
Lydon for P.M😎
thanks! . . i just just saw sentienfootwear!

Even Andy can't make it sound good
Is that a Rush song you're playing at the beginning?
Hello, hello...
Lots of options, except one: good sound.
PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED!!! wowww havent hear that one in a while

Kinda of suck's, got four other pedal's that sound a little better and cost much less !
What are they?
Analog or digital?
Digitech calls it Digital BBD. Whatever that means.
It means it's a digital circuit emulating a BBD, so yeah, digital.
FYI: BBD = Bucket-Brigade Device
Try the Moog MF chorus for the analog version of this
