- The A-COLD-WALL* SS20 collection, titled ‘Material Study For Social Architecture’, amplifies four inanimate foundational compounds, exploring our storied relationship between material and emotion. Clay, lead, water and glass - each deeply embedded into both memory and practice, representative of humanity’s inseparable, reciprocal relationship to matter - the scaffolds of society.

Was an assistant of Virgil Abloh and now he is doing better than Virgil Abloh.
That’s the irony of it all. Virgil will still always be the business juggernaut though
Soviet planners described their commitment to Brutalist architectural style as, "the removal of excess luxury in building construction and design."
This is definitely a very good description of Brutalism
When the apprentice is way more talented than the master. ACW has a continuous theme and aesthetic and the collections are always breathtaking yet also wearable. If only Off-White is presented the way ACW is, instead of trying to market to a group that don't really care about the 'visual art' part of fashion, it's a shame really. Samuel Ross just showing us that he's on another level than Virgil.
I think was a great next step for ACW. The way he uses the medium to portray relationships and trends in cities is very much close to how an architect would approach a site, and iterate through model making (Concrete Objects?)
I totally agree, I like the direction ACW is going in
Those Converse are an absolute must. I need a pair of them and I pray that they drop in black!
I need them too 100%
Any of you end up getting a pair
Ben Causer I got a pair from Browns
Abed Troy yeah I got a pair of the lugged boots which ones did you get
U cant even thank you so much for this video bro. This is really deep analysis. Love it all
Thanks a lot for watching
The socioeconomic conditions that define different eras as well as the culture and history of each country, is what can also define and affect architecture, everyday design and subsequently fashion design because they are all interconnected in a way.
Different eras can be identified by the lack or sometimes highly prominent use of certain materials and techniques, whether that applies to furniture making, clothing, utilitarian objects or architecture
. dear lord, I have written and edited this comment, like a gazillion times lol
Haha you’re definitely right, there’s always a connection between different modes of design within particular time frames
I like the books in the background +1 intellect
Hahaha, really needed that extra attribute
This video was amazing and really informative. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks a lot I really appreciate it
Love watching the quality of your content increase with every video you put out. Also, I saw the Culted vid and you're doing big tings!! Keep it up :)
Thanks so much really appreciate you watching my videos and yeah was happy to be on culted they’re going to be big soon
Amazing review. I loved this collection and you helped me understand it better
A designer, yes a man indeed I would think but surely a creative designer as all the other spoken of & called designers. Thank you for your commentary.
Great video and I love that you dove into some of the fundamental concepts like brutalist architecture. The ACW collection looked phenomenal. I like the white space boot chucks :)
Thanks so much for watching I really appreciate it
Thank you for the enlightenment on brutalist. Didn’t even know my uni was built on that aesthetic before this video lol.
Haha at least now you know
Covered everything💯 looking forward to your interviews with designers
🙏🏿
Hey brother. I met you earlier today on Alex Zevallos' live stream. I just subscribed.
Yo, thanks for stopping by
Well done. Been paying more attention to ACW and it's designer lately. Had heard the name but knew nothing about the designer. I'm very impressed with him and his work. Your presentation of his collection was extremely helpful!
Been loving the current direction A-Cold-Wall* is going towards
Great video bro!
Thanks a lot I appreciate it
Good & decent man the designer Samuel Ross of ACW & I can & do appreciate his whole SS22 collection fantastically stylish with pieces that will go on to be classics. Only wish there would have been a focus view of the shoes, next time maybe!!!
Each piece and element was well thought out. Hard to say what stood out to me. The fact that I commented out loud on the shoes, say's where I'm at haha
Yes and yes 🔥🔥
before watching this video i went through the collection and... it was cool, nice looks here and there. but after watching this video i am more than impressed. the background, accessories, and theme around the collection just add so much more to it.
This is why context is very important
He is doing each piece well thought out. Each has a meaning to it. Creating Re-learning to the idea to what is seen on a daily life those things that go unotice. More and more he is revealing new visions he himself is discovering.
One of the quotes I like is from James Cameron... The plan is I don't always have one I have a Vision. When I come to a dead end. It right then, I give birth to a new one in that very moment.
ACW is amazing.
Samuel Ross has definitely stepped his game up
Thats a solid dude
Great video! Got a new sub
Glad you liked it
Great video brother.
Thanks a lot 🙏🏿
Cool
love your channel based af
This collection was fire and Im loving Ross coming into his own, but I still think Kiko shouldve got designer of the year in that giveaway.
sidenote: If any of you watched the Netflix series "Bodyguard" with Richard Madden the man had one of the flyest Brutalist/Modernist flats ever in the Whittington Estates in Camden... funny thing is those started as social housing... now million pound plus LOL
Haven’t watched that but I’ll definitely check it out. It’s funny because a lot of council estates have been brutalism gems and now some of them are legally protected for preservation
I saw those converse boots weeks ago and have been trying to figure out when they drop for so long.
I think they’re releasing sometime this month, I googled it once and saw a date but I can’t remember
The Fashion Archive thanks for the reply I’ll be on the lookout and thanks for the knowledge you really break all this shit down and make it entertaining
Amazing content, keep it up
Merci
The Architecture** Archive
Hahaha
Actually pissed off he’s donated that money to someone who’s scammed loads of people.
That’s the only sad part. I don’t think Samuel Ross is aware how many people Eastwood has scammed that’s why. I know so many people that Eastwood has scammed but I didn’t want to mention it in the video to add negativity to Samuel Ross’ work
Is there anywhere I can read about it? I am really interested.
He’s been called out in several facebook groups
I used to be in a group chat and he was kicked out because he was scamming everyone in the group. I also know other people on a personal level he has scammed
Hope he has changed his ways, if he is still scamming with 150 thousand pounds the he must be crazy.
When did they drop?? Because goat says March and I’m soo confused that I actually missed that.
Do a video on Stone Island
No one has asked me to do this actually. Might have to
Great video, mate! Well explained!
I really like brutalism and I really like the collection as well. The footwear really is awesome.
I agree with everything you said in the video pretty much.
Little off topic but if anyone wants to check out brutalist architecture, there are loads of buildings in former socialist countries, especially in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Is Ross a big fan of Marcel Breuer?
I don’t know for certain but Marcel Breuer has designed some amazing structures that display brutalism. My guess is that Samuel Ross is definitely a big fan
i love ur contents and enjoy ur videos but what throws me off is the lighting from all ur videos which is kinda off and it makes me not wanna watch it. if u use better lighting i would love it more.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I’ll definitely work on it
