The leaf you were touching at the 4:25 mark is called Devils Walking Cane. Sometimes called Devils Walking Club. Never ever touch the needles on the bottom side of those leaves. They are very toxic. And you will end up in the ER room. Meanwhile....happy trails.
WA!, here it comes. I don't recall hearing the name, Thimble berries, yet, I was eating some last week on my hike in the coastal mtns. I was calling them Rasberries.. Good to know and still delicious, although pretty small. Blackberries are just starting locally for me as well. Hoping for some Mtn. goats in WA.

You should unclip your waist and chest straps when crossing larger streams. A woman drowned at that Sandy River crossing as she lost her footing and couldn’t get out of her pack.

I still say Margaritas name should have been Flower, and thimbleberries also grow wild on the island of Hswaii!
