    When you get your hands on the high speed resin, I'd like you see you try it on one of your older printers as well to see if you can print just as fast without the new printer.

      I believe they are only giving to reviewers so they get better results. They don't want you to know that your old printer is just as good. Only a theory but makes sense, time will tell. Of course, Jessy could just test it with standard resin and FEP. Anycubic is doing the same
      thing. Anycubic is now selling high speed resin.

    4:06 Warning: If it's the same as my Saturn 2 (and I'm sure it will be) those are NOT standard USB ports; they just use a USB connector, which Elegoo should not be doing. Those ports output 24V, whereas USB spec is 5V.
    TL;DR: if you plug anything other than Elegoo air filters into those ports you will immediately fry whatever it is you plugged in.

    To me it seems like these printers are just become scams to get us to buy more expensive resin because that's what we consume the most. I don't understand why they just don't make larger printers cheaper instead of these small ones that are pumped out like the pace of smart phones with little updates to them.

    • @BroadHobbyProjects
      @BroadHobbyProjects Год назад +14

      I kind of agree. Only thing is I won't buy a smart phone every year. Usually get about 4-6 years out of a good phone.
      So applying that principle you can get a new printer every 3 years maybe and you'll be keeping up to date but not feeling like you should or need to buy every new printer.
      The resin becoming more pricy even though it appears to just be diluted for the new printers is a bit of a put off I agree.

Elegoo try to sell us a Saturn 2 revamped with the same 12k screen as Anycubic but at a too much higher price and no real videos about print resolution/comparison with 8k or the 150mm/h they promise... And both don't communicate about spare parts prices, so maybe 12k screen costs half the price of the entire machine, we don't know sh*** about it... The more time, the more I think that I will pass on both of the two. 🤔

    Look forward to Elegoo releasing an actual next-gen printer with auto-levelling, resin detection, error detection, auto-fill, heater and better leak protection on the top if the FEP get’s a puncture. 12K is nice but everything else about the 3 and the Ultra is basically last gen tech. Look to the Uniformation, the M5S or Athena to see an actual next gen printer.
    Saturn 3 will be outdated and an improved version released in less than a year. Sadly, Elegoo shot themselves in the foot with their greed - releasing the Standard and Ultra at the same time, proves the Pro/Ultra is no longer about incorporating improvements over time, it’s about charging more for extra features from the start. They’d have been way better to release the 3 with all the current Ultra’s features, and then release a proper Pro/Ultra version in 6 months with actual next gen features.
    Instead, the whole 3 line will be expired in under a year. Even worse when you consider many buyers won’t be getting theirs till August or September!!
    I really think Anycubic has won this round, if you go by actual tech released instead of just brand recognition.

      Auto-levelling ain't that important. it's basicly something you do once and barely touch it. Auto-fill is gadgety and resin detection i don't really understand (detect what resin you have or if there is resine in the vat ?). Error detection, heater and leak protection on the other hands are something that would make my life easier.
      I don't know about Uniformation but anycubic has the worst customer service ever. Athena look nice but damn it's expensive (even without the shipping costs)

    Wouldn't it be better to measure speed in number of layers per hour rather than a distance per hour?
    A thick layer would allow faster speeds, but the quality would really suffer, so it's not a "functional" speed, so may as well not be stated.
    Or am I missing something here?

      And what is the use of 0.05 layer height and 8k resin on a 12k printer? To get the best results you should be close to the pixel size x/y in height in my opinion. I'd like to see which settings are used and try those out on the S2.

    • @EggyBreadWorkshop
      @EggyBreadWorkshop Год назад +1

      The speed of the print on both machines boils down to the new high speed resins both companies are coming out with. If you print on either machine with your standard resins, the prints aren't going to be any faster. Both machines are basically the same, but the Anycubic offers self-leveling and resin runout detection (debatably also failed print detection but apparently that doesn't actually work from what I've seen). I imagine if you used the high speed resins on your current printers, you could still get very fast prints.

    I'm confused. You said that it has USB for the air purifiers (which I have two of), but the website for Saturn said that this model has a built in air purifier. Did your review model not have one? I'd like to know more about it because I'm not a fan of those little filters. THey don't seem to do a great job on the smellier filaments.

      yes it seems to me we are talking about the m5s and the direct competitor ultra saturn 3, each has a different print size but for equal size which is the fastest? they also released a standard version of each the saturn 3 and the M5 the question of speed does not arise but for the m5s and the saturn 3 ultra it is one of the main characteristics put forward I can see the Jessy's test with al saturn 3 at 150km/h compared to his test of the m5s at 105kl/h I have the impression that the m5s is faster in printing however I would have liked to have his opinion.

    Please show us some high speed prints to compare it with Anycubic M5S, and give us every price of high speed resin and spare parts for this Saturn 3 : how much for ACF FEP, VAT ( which is a shame with only one corner to pour resin, on the M5S there are four useful corners) And the most important, price for the 12 k screen. Elegoo and Anycubic doesn't communicate about prices which come after we buy the printer, but it really matters... I hope that Elegoo has a card to play with spare parts, because this new Saturn doesn't bring any innovation compared to the M5S. New build plate with 4 screws? Better late than never ! Wi fi? M5S has it ! Carbon filter? Resin fumes are so tiny that they are harmless! What's left? A larger build volume... Maybe it is a little to short Elegoo!😁

      It’s a good thing to release models yearly IMO. However, in my case, I run a business with 2 original Saturns and a Saturn 2. Interchangeability of parts (vats, screens, build plates, etc) is important to me, so I’m going to stand pat with what I have for now. I’d possibly consider another Saturn 2 if they drop low enough so I can use my stockpile of S2 parts.

    Native 12k (12288 x 6480) is ~80mp, the printer's is ~59mp (11520 x 5120). The diagonal pixel count across 10" is ~12k. However, the total pixel count for the machine is around 58.9K, whereas native 12k is ~79.6k. Elegoo marketing it as 12k is a little disingenuous imo.

    Hi Jessy! First... thank you for what you do!!! My wife bought me a Saturn 3 (not the Ultra) for Xmas. I'm having lots of support failures. The exposure times seem dialed in well with the Cones of Calibration device and I've always used slower lift speeds for this very reason. I have an Elegoo Mars 3 Pro and I've only had two failures with over 550 hours of printing. However, I keep getting support failures with the Saturn 3 even with tried and true lift speeds and heights... :( ANY RECOMMENDATIONS??? Help me Obi-Jessy... you're my only hope! ;)
