I'm old enough to remember walking through my earliest work offices and there would be around twenty desks with people typing on both manual typewriters or electric typewriters (only slightly less noisy). I imagine listening that all day while trying to get work done...
Fun fact! They eventually made an absolutely silent typewriter...and the workers refused to use it! You see, they had gotten so used to the clacking when typing, that when they tried typing and didn't have the clacking accompanied by it, it threw them off and they couldn't type anymore. So the next model made was designed to intentionally make noise, even though it normally wouldn't have 😂
Some people can, i worked with typewritters, and later when used computers i would do some work next to the servers , which are louder, but since no one would talk to me, i could concentrate.
Lol i actually like the sounds of typewriters. My class was the last class at my school to use the typing lab before it was converted to the computer lab. Lol
I remember, my mother's office used to have a typewriter they use for typing reports, I was very young, maybe 6 or 7 and me and my brother use to go there and in free time simply try to type random stuff in rough papers and used to play with used carbon papers. Those were the days.
I used one of that exact model of typewriter when I started in Her Majesty's Customs and Excise in 1979. It was a bit of a dinosaur even then. Five years later and the whole place was computerised.
when I was a kidy dad got one antique typewriter in pristine condition, the moment I got my hands on it I wrote every curse word I knew, my dad found what I wrote together with some other stuff and went to child psychologist*

How I feel about people with mechanical keyboards.
The best part is they don't think about you.
Think how much that pld type writer cost and he found it by a dumpster. Id take it home to if I found one for free.
You left your typewriter next to the courtyard dumpster, straight from the tortured poets department

honestly, i want one.
I have a briefcase typewriter and it is cool to use.
The legal notary places had them all the way until the 2010's.
I highly doubt any legal offices had them past the 2000s, and I think that is being charitable.
