      I recommend you join air fryer groups if you're on Facebook. I've seen articles online with recipes for bread in the AF and I've watched a video tutorial on cooking a whole chicken in the AF. It was probably a 4 pounder but it was a good fit in the drawer type. Best of all, it was crispy and juicy.

      "Naked" chicken wings "fry" amazingly well. Breaded items made for the oven (orida fries, etc) also work really well. Restaurant supply items for the deep fryer can be hit or miss.

      It is more quantity that will get you in trouble, than the food. Have to have enough space around the food for airflow. Other than that, almost anything that can be Fried, or, Baked in an oven, that is not a desert or desert like item, can be made in a Air Fryer. Some desert like items can be done in an Air Fryer, just need to experiment with times and temps. Rule of thumb, 25 degrees less and 2/3's the time to start, then add more time if needed. Same with a convection oven as far as that goes.

      Anything you would bake or roast is awesome in the air fryer. You just have to play around with temp and time. I don’t recommend quesadillas in the air fryer. They are too light and the fan blows them around . 😂

    • @sunspot42
      @sunspot42 2 года назад +3

      @@Sandiastef you can weight them down with a little rack. I got a rack for my air fryer so I could stack things - I mostly use it to keep thin or light stuff like bacon or tortillas from flying around.

    I did a lot of research, thought the Vortex looked great, but chose the Ninja XL because it is the only air fryer with a ceramic rather than a teflon coating. I feel the ceramic is safer. The Vortex indicates that it is PFOA free, but does not address PFTE which is what teflon is made of. It may be quite safe if not overheated but I feel more comfortable with the Ninja and it performs really well, really enjoying it. (Because the basket is rounded it has a slightly smaller cooking space but is plenty big enough for at least 2 people).

    Bought it 2/9/22 based on ATK recommendation and LOVE IT! It does everything it promises and is a breeze to clean. Only air vents are on the back and doesn't heat up kitchen. Highly recommended. Glad I didn't go with the rotisserie model since the grease from a chicken gets everywhere and is a pain to clean plus, if the fat drips on the heating element the unit will start to smoke.

    I bought the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer based on ATK recommendation and I love the air fryer, it works great and easy cleanup. I only have two issues with it...
    1st - the preheat can not be turned off, if you you cook something and it finishes the cycle then you decide it needs another couple minutes it goes through the preheat cycle again, and apparently this is a timed cycle and not based on temperature, so that's annoying and inconvenient.
    2nd - when you pour your food out into a bowl or plate the tray in the bottom falls out making a mess, you have to make sure you use something to hold it in place while you empty the fryer, again annoying and inconvenient.
    Other than that it works great!

    I pushed off purchasing an air fryer for a long time because I figured it would just be another appliance sitting on the counter taking up space, or sitting in a cabinet and never used. Against my better judgment, I purchased a Cosari air fryer last month. Along with everything else that I have been cooking with it, I seem to be eating my words that I said! This appliance is a workhorse and has became my go-to method of cooking for most meals for my wife and myself. Last night we had strip steak, baked potato, and asparagus.

    I did my research almost three years ago and purchased a Corosi 5.8 Quart Air Fryer. Couldn't be more happy. Does great and can also roast (fry?) a 5.5+ pound whole chicken in less than 50 minutes. Yeah, after 25 minutes I use my tongs to turn the bird over to roast the back side for 10-15 minutes until internal temp reaches 160 and then flip it over again, breast side up for an additional 10-15 minutes. Add your BBQ sauce if desired. It also does a host of other meals, fries, fish, chops, homemade pizza, etc. Quiet, easy controls and doesn't give off a lot of heat.

Our oven is now mostly for storage, but we use it to meal prep on the weekend. Having all 3 options cuts an all-day endeavor into just 3 hours. We basically put on a movie or two and prep while we watch. MUCH less daunting!

    I've been buying I-Pot appliances since they first came out; I have the big Duo Crisp (seldom use it because of the bulky, heavy frying lid) and the Mini sits on my counter in red. BTW I've washed the trivet and the basket dozens of times in my dishwasher and it looks like new, no wear, no plastic discoloration at all. Use top or bottom rack. The cheap Dash I had flaked off the nonstick and rusted, a second one did the same thing. I just ordered this model of their air fryer 'cause I want the dehydrate function. I own the Breville Smart Air oven, never use the air fryer function because it's a pain in the a** to try and keep clean, and that dehydrate is lousy. Thanks to our beautiful Lisa for a great video!

    I love air fryers, especially the "bucket" style because they contain the mess inside the completely dishwasher-safe, washable container. In my experience, even the less expensive models do a fine job, and by that, I mean as little as $40 up to about $70 for a 7-qt model with enough interior space for up to a 6-1/2 pound whole chicken. I just got a Gourmia GAF798 on sale at Costco for $40. It did a fine job and has all the feautures one could want or need. Nothing omitted of which I am aware. I bought a Ninja Foodi 5 in 1 Grill + Air Crisper. It grills and broils, with a heavy ceramic coated cast steel grill. It bakes, air fries and can even be used as a dehydrator. It gets nearly daily use as it's very easy to use, preheats to 210 Celsius (400 f) in 2 minutes, and clean and does it's job reliably to perfection. It's perfect for cooking meals for 1 or 2 people. It cooks 2 massive fish or beef steaks or 4 chicken breasts to perfection. One of the lowest profile convection oven/air fryers and that means you can store it inside a small kitchen cabinet. If you life in a tiny place but want quality results, the Ninja 5 in 1 Foodi grill is for your small apartment kitchen. Got mine on sale marked down for $210 Canadian at Canadian Tire.

      @@pamelahuelfer8691 I still love it and have had no problems. I found the same model that Costco carries on Amazon and have to disagree with the negative reviews. I expected the plastic odor but had that only for the first use. I use only the 'air fry' setting and you CAN turn off the preheat which someone complained about. It's not 100% intuitive but it's not complicated. Some people don't read instructions and may be frustrated. I recommend buying it while it's $39 at Costco and you can return it used if you're not happy with it. Costco's frozen mahi mahi works beautifully for 'grilled' fish tacos in the air fryer (EatingWell) and the sockeye salmon comes out great, too. They have a large jug of avocado oil which is recommended for high heat use. I bought the Mistifi sprayer on Amazon which is better than many. Best Buy has 2 Insignia models with the same shell as the Instant one recommended in the video, one with dials and one with digital display. The latter is currently $30 cheaper than the Instant one, plus the basket has a neat way of coming apart to dump the tray out (because of this, the capacity is listed as 5 qt while the Instant one is 6, but it's worth it and you won't notice size difference anyway). It's pretty obvious they come from the same factory, so don't bother paying way more for the name brand.

    Each to own preferences, I use oven style from Costco. It works better than pot style and much easier to clean by putting aluminum foil on the drip tray. Most of all i prefer the oven style because I can see the doneness.

    I guess it depends on what you’re looking for cause I actually am very happy with my oven style model which is very similar to the Instant version oven style. We wanted to replace our last toaster oven that could do rotisserie chicken so when we saw the Sur La Table oven style air fryer that could do rotisserie chicken, we got it. It does great for that and chicken wings. Despite having to switch the racks, it dots a great job of making crispy chicken wings and everything else we cooked in it.

    • @kropka8259
      @kropka8259 2 года назад +1

      I agree. Oven style works best for me. I feel like i can fit more on 3 racks than i could in a drawer. Not bothered with swapping trays mid cook. Food comes cooked evenly if you swap the trays around (you have to shake/swap mid cook no matter what model you choose anyway)
      Dont have any issues cleaning it either, and a window is a nice touch so you can see progress on your food without the need of opening the drawer.
      Rotisserie option is amazing too 😉
      It is so much better for making cheesy toasts too, easy slide of the rack instead of digging in the deep drawers to pull them out.

    • @SaphStitched
      @SaphStitched 2 года назад +2

      @@kropka8259 The rotisserie option is my favorite feature! It rotates it so I don't even have to flip it midway!
      Even though it is messy when you have to swap trays - you just have to stay on top of cleaning it out. I guess that's a deal breaker for some but not for me.

It has completely analog controls, just a knob for temperature and a knob for time, and it cooks great. No need to dump huge amounts of cash for what amounts to a fan and a heating element.

    Costco shoppers..... I bought the Gourmia brand Air fryer for $60 2 weeks ago. It will hold 2-3 chicken breasts and for just 2 of us at home it is the right size. Everything we've cooked in it so far as come out as expected. The "fried" foods are crisp and delicious. It has been easy to use and not complicated control buttons. It has similar features of their winner and best buy. O... try frying a twinkie, you'll never eat one another way again. 400 for just 1.5 to 2 minutes depending on your level of fried. Take it out and let it sit for about a minute and the exterior is crispy while the interior is gooey and yummy!

    While I agree the Sur La Table airfryer shown is a slight pain to clean, the rotisserie basket made the best wings I have ever made at home. It only makes enough for one, but so would a normal air fryer. ~10-12 wings.
    EDIT: I'd also like to add that this model also has a basket and the handle attachment means you dont need an oven mitt to use it. Not sure why they negated to say this. I know its a short video, but don't entirely write off a style.
