  • The 2023 IS 350 was an interesting one. I didn't know what to expect, and it isn't a bad car, but it just felt quite average. IS 500 is the move.

The IS may be slower than comparable models but it looks SO much nicer in my opinion. The body styling on current gen IS is just stunning

Add to that the reliability. I had a BMW M550 that would pin you to the back of your seat. It was excellent for thrills but the maintenance and servicing is the trade off for those thrills. I wanted a nice car that was going to be more reliable than the German luxury/performance cars

  • @lanreadelowo

Finally they got rid of the confusing options. Most people buy the F-sport but lost all the luxury package which are pretty important

Manual mode is fun. Just remember eco mode is your best friend. That sport plus drains that tank in BPG (Blocks per Gallon)

Fair review, thank you for doing your research! Re: 3IS vs 4IS. The IS, unlike it’s competitors, is analog for sure but everything works and is built to last. I laughed when you tried to shift while in drive mode, then you put it into manual. That’s the ticket. 😉 I only drive my IS 500 in Sport+ and Manual, because the 8 speed transmission (the AWD has 6) is slow on its own. The paddles are more responsive the higher you are in the rev range. Hopefully you’ll get your hands on a 500 soon! (With Michelin PS4S, the OEM Bridgestones were no bueno.)

So I did a deep dive on all the Germans, plus Volvo. Almost settled on the Volvo V60 Polestar wagon. I love the look of it, and it’s fast. That being said when I drove them, none of them gave me the feels like the IS350. Yes it’s dated, but it’s a drivers car. It feels like a cockpit, everything is where it needs to be, and I could sit in the seats for ever. I hadn’t even considered Lexus, but I bought my dated 2024 IS350 AWD within 1 week of discovering it. Now I feel about telling the world about the greatest car they never knew existed. This car is made in Japan, and is considered the most reliable car of its class. If I want to make a temperature adjustment I don’t have e to use an infotainment system. The CD player was almost a deal breaker but I’m so glad I didn’t let such a small thing get in the way of the greatest car I’ve ever owned.
If you’re thinking about this car, make sure to drive it before you dismiss it. You won’t regret it. And yes, if you need to be the fastest guy on the road, just go for the 500.

Nice cars but man I can't believe nobody bought the GS. Much nicer to drive than the IS. I would put this car equal to the ES. It's more fun to drive but the ES is such a smooth operator.

Another great review! I was actually hoping that you'd do a review on the IS350 F Sport. Right now I'm torn between this and the TLX Type S. I love the look of the IS, but the power of the Type S seems well more worth the money. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated lol.

Under the hood I thought for a sec it was my 11 GS 350AWD . I bet the AWD system is the same. EXTREMELY reliable system. I really don't see a reason to get this car, it is smaller than what I have . I get 22-23 mpg if I take it easy. Oh, same cruise control stalk and rear console too! I honestly think mine is better laid out. I bet it has the same front suspension bushing on the control arm.
