    This mark looks like a place i used to go fishing on Holiday each year, not that my wife liked us going to the same place each year! Not that i will say its your grounds, caught loads of bass on the surface there, i always painted my lures to look like wrasse a top bait in that area, not been there for 3 years since i lost my wife to Cancer, will one day. Good video brings back great memories.

    Always enjoy your videos. Very honest and always something to learn. Re tackle, I am not a tackle tart but I like to buy quality, especially in the reel department. Hate the idea of having to replace a reel every few years. I’ve been using Daiwa Certates since 2004. I have three 3000 models. They haven’t missed a beat but admittedly they haven’t been fished hard for the last 10 years.

      @@SaltwaterAngler I went out for the first time in ages on Friday night - got snagged & lost a lure at high tide after a few casts. Decided to swap rods & put some bait out, same happened after an hour or so, lost the lot, line snapped just above shock leader. Decided to put rod away as no spare shock leader but stayed chatting to the guy I was fishing with. An hour later, tide had gone out & spotted lure in a foot of water with our headlights. I am getting back into sea fishing in general, and I have been going through my sea fishing tackle to see what is good and what needs replacing due to the last time I went was over 10 years ago!
    Going through my sea fishing tackle, I came across my NEW never used Abu Garcia telescopic 12ft spinning rod, which says on the side it can cast between 50 and 100g. Would this rod be ok to use for Bass lure fishing, or do you think a 12ft rod is a bit long?

    Hi Matt, the lure that you got snagged, the Komomo 125, the colour you are using is it the "clear crown" or "creamy chart" they look very similar when buying, you seem to have great success with this lure colour.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  3 года назад

      Hi Graham, creamy chart but an old worn version of I remember. It’s worth remember bass eyesight is considered more focused on outlines, shapes profiles, light and dark . So it’s my guess (and I don’t really know !) that there’s no difference between similar colours where a fast moving bass is concerned ?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  4 года назад

      You can catch in surf and coloured water definitely. It’s the wave and tide action that the bass take advantage of baitfish. Generally a bit of chop on the water is preferable however locally here flat water can be good. Bass can spot that lure for sure.

      Have a look at axia lures or shads for a cheaper but still very effective way of fishing

    Good man picking up other peoples rubbish. I do the same when fishing. We shouldn't have to though - People that litter are scum!

      Welcome Alex pleases to have you onboard Sir. I know many anglers that take bin bags with them just to collect litter. Agreed we shouldn’t have to though

    The wind makes no difference and won't hold fish anywhere

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  2 года назад

      You are wrong. The wind Direction and strength makes a big difference in many ways. Here a Northerly for example leads to clearer water, as the wind comes off the land sediment and gulley water can clear. Catch rates improve in this scenario. South westerlies give us bigger breakers pushing against the rocks, this often leads to dislodged Lug, Razor and crabs. Wind direction is one of the most important factors to Lure fishing.

      @@SaltwaterAngler I'm not wrong, you are. Wind transfers energy not water the water doesn't move, it oscillates. Do you believe a wave moves from far out at sea and ultimately ends up breaking at your feet on the shore?

    Why do people spend hundreds on rods and reels iv never understood it my mate has a LRF rod he goes wrassing all the time and he literally spends thousands on gear his rod was £600 its insane

      Some people have money to spend on things and do so. Psychologically they may feel better about buying something like that.

      we adress this issue in the latest video ! I think there are real diffrences to feel and weight balance that are helped by spending a bit more but there are diminishing returns after about the £60 mark for reels and £80 for rods.
