Very good movie
“Well ain’t this place a geographical oddity, two weeks from everywhere” I love that scene so much.
I don't want FOP, goddammit! I'm a Dapper Dan man.
@@mattstanford9673 Best line ever lol.
Watch yer language, young fella. This here’s a public market…
I love how they blended the Greek mythology with American folklore. This really is one of my all time favorite of the Coen Brothers movies.
My grandparents were extras in this film and I’m really happy that the moment they are shown is included here so I can point out exactly where. 29:17 in the upper left of the frame. My grandad is in a black suit and my grandmother is just behind him wearing pink. This movie was filmed in Mississippi (my home state) and this scene was filmed in Vicksburg, which is where my grandparents currently live and where my dad grew up.
This movie got a lot of attention in the Bluegrass community because of the awesome music within. My hometown has a massive bluegrass festival every year and after this movie came out, they dedicated a night to screen it in one of the campgrounds. This continues to this day.
I would probably have never have been exposed to old folk music without seeing this film. The songs are so good, even to this day.
I'm so fucking happy more and more people are reacting to this amazing movie
Tim Blake has a very good country voice...As demonstrated by "The Ballad of Buster Scrugs"
I would dare say that O Brother is a masterpiece. It's insanely quotable, the chemistry between Clooney, Turturro, and Nelson was phenomenal, and the soundtrack was more famous than the movie itself.
I love this movie.
I grew up in the hood and back in the day my cousin had bootleg cable with all the ppv channels. I remember we watched this when it first came out and to this day it’s one of my favorite movies.🤣🤣🤣
Black folks LOVE this movie. It's a particular favorite with my southern relatives haha
The Coen brothers have made some excellent movies. Hope to see you guys react to more in the future.
There will definitely be more!
@@LatetotheParty Big Lebowski next please
They shot this on film then transferred it to digital and desaturated the colors to get the dust-bowl feel.
This is probably my #1 movie to make me laugh. I cry laughing...actual tears. My face hurts. Its a mess. Friggin hilarious. (And im familiar with all the source material)
The Crossroads is a real place. It's actually in my hometown of Clarksdale, MS. It's where highways 49 and 61 cross. There's music school and blues music museum near the site.
Also, all the towns mentioned are real towns in MS (Yazoo, Itta Bena, Tishomingo). Even the prison they escaped from is real. It's located near those towns.
@@vincentsweargen8436 itta bena loong time since i seen the soggy botom boys ridin w that cow killa. lol
One of the funniest and well made adventure comedy film from the Coen Brothers.
Its a retelling of Homer's Odyssey.
legend of the crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul, and there is a movie called "The Crossroads" with Ralph Machio that includes a lot of that legend.
“George, some of your Foldin’ moneys come unstole.” Lol
Supposedly when the guy that did the singing for George Clooney was telling his wife he said it would be his voice and George Clooney's face she said that was her dream.
🤣
John Turturro is an amazing actor I feel he doesn't get enough credit
If youve never seen George Clooney as a total badass...From Dusk Til Dawn...a Quentin Tarantino flick is one of his coolest roles
Vanessa hasn't seen that one yet!
@@LatetotheParty that´s gonna be blast...
Written by Tarantino, directed by Robert Rodriguez. Have y'all seen Desperado?
"Damn! We're in a tight spot!"
I heard that the man who sang this told his wife that she would hear his voice, but it would be coming out of George Clooney's face. She apparently said, "That's all I've ever wanted."
The process of slaughtering animals for consumption is far, *far* more humane than gunning them down for pleasure/sport.
Burn After Reading is my favorite Coen Bros. movie. So darn funny. Has one of Brad Pitt's funniest performances, and Clooney's character has something going on his basement that... well, it's shocking. Throw in Frances Macdormand and John Malkovich, both hysterically crushing it, and well you got a good one on your hands.
Just wanna say Raising Arizona is the best Nic Cage movie ever (fight me) and I can't wait for you to react to it.
Touchstone pictures was founded by Disney . It is used to produce films for an older audience. It’s first film was Splash 1984.
Not as expensive as JC Penneys-like a Woolworths. A 5 cent, 10 cent store. Loved your reaction. George Clooney was hilarious! I love that line "
what a geological oddity-2 weeks from everywhere!" LOL
Tim Blake Nelson (Delmar) is actually a fantastic singer. Don't believe me? I dare you two to watch The Ballad of Buster Scruggs(2018) then.😉
For real it's a great movie, in fact an anthology, in which you will very much recognize the all-star cast, doing what they do best.
The story with the legless and armless man made me physically ill.
Sears and JC Penney were not five and dime stores. Woolworth and JJ Newberry were five and dimes. There were other five and dime stores as well.
Kresge was a five and dime which was the parent company of KMart. In the 70s in Modesto California, there was a Kresge downtown (the prices were no longer five and ten cents) and KMart was on the outskirts of town.
“Five and dime (also known as five-cent stores, dime stores, and ten-cent stores) is a type of store that was popular in the United States in the early to mid-20th century. They sold many different items, most of which were worth five or ten cents.”
Seriously, put "Spoiler Alert" next time.
Robert Johnson was one of the first blues performers to be recorded that lived around the 1920s and the legend is that he went to the crossroads in rural Mississippi and sold his soul to the devil to learn how to play guitar really good and that’s who is supposed to be
Clooney is funny in "HAIL CAESAR" another Coen Brothers comedy😎😍
In addition to The Odyssey, the movie is full of references to the wonderful movie Sullivan's Travels (which was about trying to make a movie called "Oh, Brother Where Art Thou")
Five a dime stores were very popular when I was growing up, and Woolworth's was one of the big chains.
This takes place when the fridge was just coming out.
One of the most quotable movies
Bona fide quotability.
11:43 How did I never notice that's the same dude!!???
Thank you!
"We are gunna r u n n o f t!!!" 😅😅
First video i have seen of you guys and i just gotta say, thats a killer intro lol.
More quotes: "Would you care for some gopher?" "Come on boys, the water is fine!" They turn him in to a horny toad" "My hair"
So, I liked the odyssey reference to teh suiters and being bonified. Because when Odysseus returns home he is disguised and his wife has a bunch of suiters vying to marry her. And she doesn't really want to remarry so she sets up a challenge where the suiters must restring Odysseus's "bow" and shoot an arrow through axe handles or something like that. Anyway, "bow"-nified suiters I thought was a clever adapation.
The guy that kicked Clooney from Woolsworth, was he in that other movie "Fan Boys"?
George even said that he can’t carry a tube in a bucket lol and considering his family lineage his aunt being the great Rosemary Clooney
They say that the blues guitarist Robert Johnson in the 1920s or 1930s sold his soul to the devil at the Cross Roads in Mississippi to learn how to play guitar and he made a few albums before he was killed
My favorite Cohen Brothers movie. I don’t know why lol.
You got me with the "Icuinzu Ocha" line. 😂🤣😂🤣
Five & Dime stores were everywhere....WOOLWORTHS WAS MOST FAMOUS
J C PENNYS, SEARS, WERE DEPARTMENT STORES.
Holly Hunter and John a Goodman n RAISING ARIZONA...ONE OF MY FAVES!!🙏😆🙏😆
I don't get it Big Dan.
GOPHER EVERETT?
I saw your RHPS reaction..we shouldn't judge..but if we don't when does a compliment mean anything?? Instantly love the lighting and girl did you get your hair done?.i literally gulped at straightening my hair..I WAS STRAIGHT..I love my curls..been permed until magical powers gave me waves and curls..but wanted to say you look pretty
Like radio stations? Er, have you seen the movie "The Vast of Night" (2019) yet?
0:37 thanks for including the poll results. i'm always curious about the results. 👍🏼
The two best on that list were the top 2 voted, imo, but I couldn't pick which is better
"Knock a couple [Klansmen] out, take their uniforms..." Have you seen Blazing Saddles?
This was at a time when only agricultural society was in South. Industrialized in North and West.😎
You get a like just for your epic little klan mini-rant! 👏👏👏
Please check out John Turturro and John Goodman in the early Coen Brothers film Barton Fink
My favorite Clooney movie. “We’re in a tight spot”
HUDSUCKER PROXY!!!!!!
"You know. For kids!"
🔵
This is everywhere in my feeds
It'd easily the best Cohen Brothers movie
Speaking of bluesmen selling their souls to the devil at the crossroads, you should probably watch Crossroads (1986) with Raplh Macchio.
10:05 SHAKAKA!!!!!
Well, I’m sure glad Vanessa ain’t too late to the old-timey party now.
In his treachery, Big Dan must’ve figured Everett as just some Nobody. 😉
if they haven't seen it yet, they are about to become big fans. 8:40 Vanessa.exe has stopped working
Thanks, Robert! Thanks, Vanessa! 📻 #LateToTheParty #JoelCoen #EthanCoen #OBrotherWhereArtThou
I like it so much I bought the DVD/ music CD combo.
Finally! Someone watches this amazing movie!
Love this movie good to take naps too as well haha 👍🏻
you guys are great
Tim Blake Nelson also sings in "Ballad of Buster Scruggs" . It's worth a see
Also mad at Raising...My brother did that exact scene before the movie came out!!!! (Might happen too often) Diapers scene..quote unquote!!
Tim Blake Nelson also is featured in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Worth watching.
Girls singing like mythical SIRENS
George Nelson an infamous mobber
Holly Hunter and John Goodman are both in "Always" also. It's an *Excellent* movie that I hope you will do a "better late than never" for
I watched and now I am going to RUNNOFT…
Love this movie. Fun one, you two! 😆
My hair!???!!
The white robed crowd is looking forward to some full-body immersion redemption! AMEN!!
“It DID win a few Grammys..”
The soundtrack of this movie is legendary at this point and easily ten times bigger and more heralded than the actual film. It is truly considered a classic world-wide.
This is loosely based on The Odyssey by Homer😍
The TENNESSEE VALKEY AUTHORITY DAMNED THE RIVER FOR TELEPHONES FOR WHOLE REGION. SO THE FLOOD HE'S TALKING ABOUT WAS TRUE.!😎😎
Songs are so good
Been listening to them a ton the last couple days!
One of my favorite movies and soundtrack…. But what Vanessa was saying about the cow and hamburger 😅 We went to a Bull fight in Mexico on our honeymoon (I didn’t know they killed the bill or how bloody it was) let’s just say we left early and for some reason I ordered a steak for dinner that night…. Worst decision ever! 😂🤮
I Love this movie! It just kept me laughing!
I haven’t sen this movie in a long time. But I love ❤️
Is 'The Blues Brothers' on your short list of movies with music that aren't musicals?
It's not on the list at all anymore because we reacted to it recently. ruclips.net/video/dTqQVAGj7rI/видео.html
I love this
Walmart started out as a 5 and dime.
Big Lebowski, another Coen brothers
Ohh the Soggy Bottom Boys...!!!!
A five and dime store is not like sears or JC pennies, they had actual stores called five and dime. They were also referred to as the dime
It's based on Homers Odyssey.
We say that.
No one rver mebtins the great job by charles durning as pappy o daniel (menaleus). Pappy o daniel was a givernorbif texas furingvthe depression and hosted a popular radio show
Are you guys going to react to the new fast X trailer?
Oh wow, I remember five and dimes. At a GUESS, I figure I have fifteen years on you. Anyway, I'd say the modern equivalent is the dollar store.
This reaction is bona-fide
Evangelicals or Revivalists would baptize weekly.🙏
No offense but there's no way this dude watched this movie once in 2001 and remembered everything he let on in this reaction
You obviously don't know us very well. 😎
I love you guys to death.. but I love this movie more .. so I couldn't watch you guys watch it for I KNEW.. YOU WOULDN'T get it.. This Movie is VERY SPECEIAL to me :)
Guess you'll never know if we got it or not since you didn't watch this video.
