- Steve Harvey's future son-in-law Benjamin Raymond tells his story of how he overcame a difficult childhood. Benjamin Raymond's father was in and out of prison the majority of his life. Ben saw his father at seven and didn't see him again until he found him 21 years later on an internet search where his father was in federal prison. Ben's own mother was not able to take care of him and through most of his young childhood, he was in and out of foster care. Benjamin and his mother were separated when he was six months old to foster care and when she got me back every few years she would have breakdowns from mental issues forcing him to be separated from his mother. As a teenager, a very special woman welcomed him into her home and made him feel like a member of the family. Ben surprises the woman he calls “Mom Kat,” and thanked her in person for helping turn his life around. Love changes people's lives.

Such a wonderful don raised the right way with love respect and to MomCat such a beautiful woman to give him what was needed at the time in his life when probably seemed like no one cared thank you to Carly and Steve for the love you gave for Ben and to the thousands of boys he will mentor and guide and help to grow up to become great men and leaders love pass it on I love this show Steve have watched this episode quite a few times wish sometimes I had that kind of love when I was growing up from my mom and never knew my dad but so thankful for my grand parents who loved me and my sister and brother enough to raise us till my mom and step dad came and took us to Ind. I hated leaving and when I was able went back home to TN stayed there till my my aunt and grandad passed then had to leave TN came to CA I WISH I could go home and buy our home back that was lost to me because my aunt passed away before she had the chance to take me and have my name put on the deed as she was going to do so being the age I am now have’nt been back there in years came to CA in 92 but if someone gave me a million dollars I would go home I have a son that lives in Clarksville where my sister brother and I were born and I have’nt seen him since the 80’s when he visited us once but looking forward Lord willing to seeing him as he comes out to spend Christmas with us so doing things to make the apt. we live in look nice and my youngest son who lives up over me upstairs in the apt. building where we are in two bedroom says he can sleep up there at night since my two grandsons and my daughter live with me down stairs in our two bedroom apt. it is a four plex so not a lot of noise neighbor hood is quiet it’s gated have to have keys to get in tenant parking is inside and I like it a lot for the safety can get outside and walk around plenty of space so I thank God for where we are now but I still want my own home one day before the Lord takes me home I miss that ok guess you say I’ve said a mouth full yes in deed I did but truly thankful to God my Savior ❤❤❤

Amen!! I have a 20 yr old son and 90% of his friends ha e been in my life since 1st grade!! At 15 when they had no where to go cut their mom kicked them out they knew I was a text or call away!! Today tomorrow and forever I love all the boys who grew up in and around my home.

Just because this i am going to seek into adopting a kid but fostering first. I was in fostercare and i wasn't as lucky as ben but god is good and i persevered. I am 30 now and the hells ive seen as a child ,i cant unsee but if i can prevent someone else from a similar hell by just loving them . I will. 😍 Im workin on becoming a social worker to give back . Hopefully one day that will happen.
I adopted twins it's wonderful. They were 2 and now they are 8

Amazing woman! Listening to what Ben said and also Carly I couldn’t help but cry. She gave him the love her needed and deserved and I think it’s amazing that he is now helping other young men and also dedicating scholarships in his second mommas name. ❤️

And this young man is a hero in my book to have the goodness, love to show someone he is seriously wanting to be honest and appreciative enough to want to work and not lay down in her house and rest after such a long walk as she invited him to do. Others reached out to him because they heard about him and THAT is how God uses us to do good works and to love our neighbor as ourself❣️🙏

can you cry so much and touched my heart because I was put into a foster home at 14 and the woman took me in and I consider her as my mother but she's gone now and I miss her so much. I don't think I would have become the woman I am today if she was not in my life. I miss her and I love her so much. It's inspired me to always want to help others kids and teenagers who are in trouble.

I became a foster child at 11 years old, I was to be only there for 2 weeks, I never left my moma’s home 🏡, I thank God for it too..Because love , yes because love change everything for me..Thank my Moma Harp..This really touched my life completely,Thank you wholeheartedly Steve !! I never thought I'd know a person whose (bio) mother had the same mental illness as mine, thank you. Growing up in the 80's mental health vastly different and stigmatized. Needless to say, at a very young age, I grew up in the foster care sysyem. A system, I was taught only a few can break the standards/statistics. And here are, in the side. One thing remains: what doesn't break a person makes them: that's where the heart of person is. Love is respecting and appreciating one another and I thank you for sharing your story.
