It's weird to think back how different this show used to be before they rebooted it in 2002. It was always a good show but one of the rare ones that became an absolute masterpiece after its new incarnation.
That's what happens when the big wigs don't get involved and the producers presenters can make it. I think filming at Dunsfold helped. Alot of BBC shows were/are filmed in BBC owned studios.
The old programme was a mainly factual based piece. The reboot was purely for entertainment. It was good at first but after the same formula and even getting worse and stagnant over time it looks likely that it creaked and groaned on for 20 series too many. And then became The Grand Bore.

I only watched it a couple of times. As I say, formulaic and boring and above all, predictable. The first few series were definitely 'epic' though.

Top Gear has made fun of just about every country and people, except may be Africans, but Mexico has the dubious honor of being the only nation to have lodged an official complaint, other than the Brits who complain on behalf of other countries.

To be honest that time it felt forced liked they were doing it to specifically hunt controversy. It wasnt even funny. Usually when they make offensive jokes about other nations they try to be somewhat clever or funny. That time it just felt like deliberately trying to be offensive. And I say that because its the only nationality based joke on Top Gear I never found remotely funny.
@@jmlaw8888 It was quite a confusing joke because Britain has notoriously bad food and Mexican food is notoriously and addictively delicious. Also Mexicans are famously hard workers so the lazy jokes are also a bit confusing. Consider the average work week in the "over-worked" USA is 33.9 hours. In the UK it's 32.1. In Mexico, it's 41.1!
@@gorkyd7912 it's just a matter of perspective. The US is right on top of Mexico while England gets popular media representations of speedy Gonzales and the like. At the very least I got a kick out of referring to a blanket with a hole in the middle worn as a coat. That is what a poncho is after all.

Counterfeit doesn't mean it's a different product but a product which doesn't follow the said company's instructions. Which results to (most of the time) a worse product _but_ at a cheaper rate.

This all makes even more sense after watching the GT’s special “Carnage a Trois”. What James said about France in relation to Italy, what can I say, it just warms my heart. James, just know that Italy loves you back. Don’t know if that’s the same car but on the special there’s a Franco-Italian car and it seems quite nice, at least that’s how Jeremy described it. Btw Jeremy, are you honestly telling me you think French wine and cheese are better … say what? We and the Frenchies share a friendly rivalry, there’s no beef :)
I highly suggest you to watch the special, it’s a lot of fun and you can learn a great deal about France.
P.S. Well Hammond, the Zonda is Italian, though as you probably know its engine happens to be an AMG so it’s German and last time I checked it was them using trickery on their emission values, not us. You might have heard of, you know … dieselgate. 9:06

I for example hate USA, but I like some of their cars such as Chevelle, Impala, El Camino, Challenger, Charger, Viper, Mustang, F-150 Raptor, Corvette, Camaro, etc.

I don't even want to live in USA because A) Tornadoes and hurricane occurs very often. B) USA is just hell to live in, you easily get shot or sued for no reason.
Hurricane do occur in Europe too, but they're very rare in Scandinavia, tornadoes doesn't even exist in my country.

Well, as a latvian, i must say we do have a lot of milk. We even had so much milk that it was given away for free as much as possible, like in schools.
Dutchman Dirk Hartog is the first European to officially be recognised as the man who discovered Australia (New Holland) in 1616.
He nailed an inscripted pewter plate to a tree on Dirk Hartog Island near Shark Bay, Western Australia.
so he knew he was in western australia but still tried to pass it off as new holland? the cheek.
The Dutch ended up mapping most of the coasts of Western and South Australia - but since that's mostly desert, they didn't bother with it.

I absolutely love french cars from the early eighties to the mid 90s, I’ve had over 40 cars in my life , by far the best was my 106 rallye s1. My 306 gti6 was a close second. I’ve been “abroad” 13 times, 10 of those times it’s been to France. 🇫🇷
