Only 528 views??? America's answer to Dusty is this Jewish gal from Brooklyn! And she brings the soul. (disclaimer: I love the Hollies' version of this song more since it's the one that I heard first. But Evie owns "Take Me For A Little While", one of the great white soul records of all time.
Agreed, her luck wasn't. And that was back in a time when you actually had to have talent to make a record! ;p But it's always been about getting lucky.
Luck and circumstance did play a big part back then. If one element of The Beatles history were different (i.e., George Martin as producer) it certainly wouldn't have happened the way it did. I actually first heard "Take Me For A Little While" on Vanilla Fudge's debut album, in their drawn out melodramatic style, but Evie's original is it. (Also, she was damn cute.)
In the New York & Philly radio markets, Evie did get some action with "Take Me For A Little While". When Vanilla Fudge did it (IMO, it's one of their best cover songs) I recognized it from the earlier version. But nationwide, she got buried. Quite a story.
She should have been huge she was always on the brink of success songs like I can't let go and angel of the morning take me for a little later became hits for other artists
I Like her version, but I like the tempo of the Hollies version better. Her melody in the chorus is what The hollies had as a background counter melody by Graham nash. Interesting.
Blue-eyed Jewish soul. Does anyone know what show this was? And there's another lip-synced version here. ruclips.net/video/D88ee6rAA6s/видео.html I'm pretty sure it's not the same performance judging from the setting. Absolutely awesome! And she's sill making music.
She reminds me of Dusty Springfield. The young-shapely gals dancing and contorting in the shadows look better than the fat-lumpy gals in leggings seen today. She opened her eyes once in this video, WOW! Should have kept them open throughout the video. Odd, Her version should have charted very highly, what happened?
I love the Hollies but this blows them away
One more reason to love Linda Ronstadt: her covers lead me to the original artists. This was just great!
And now you have a reason to forget about Linda Ronstadt.
@@chrudolf Never!
@@lnl3237 Much as I admire Evie, have been a fan for over 20 years and have seen her in numerous live performances, one can't forget Linda.
@@DNRY122 She is pretty unforgettable, Bob-a voice and career path like no other.
Beautiful voice!
What a song! What a beat! What a woman! Wow!
its clear this song was written to one day be sung by this unbelievable singer
Evie is the one who originally recorded "I Can't Let Go". Others borrow it, but she OWNS it!
AN AMAZING WRITER & TALENT
I STILL LOVE THIS WOMAN
CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042 USA
The raw emotional intensity she seethes and exhumes is too much for me literally overwhelming in these early recordings
That bassline tho....
Utterly sublime
this is far superior to the Hollies version, love her singing Picture Me Gone as well
this completely blows me away
I like Evie and the Hollies version.

Evie did this first, did "Take Me For A Little While" first, also did..."Angel Of The Morning" first. Evie's luck was not the best.

Not Jewish. Sands is an Irish name. Ever heard of Bobby Sands?
stunner and great version as well
My older cousin a girl played her records I listened and watched her dance to them LOL I was pre Jr Highschool.
She should have been huge she was always on the brink of success songs like I can't let go and angel of the morning take me for a little later became hits for other artists
Has Benedict Cumberbatch perfected time travel?! The guy dancing right behind Evie!
Could someone please turn up the lights just a bit? 😊
sweet sweet angel! wow!
gosh she's cute

A couple of bozos actually disliked this timeless classic.
Linda is great but Evie did it best
No way. LR version is so much better.
