  • My love for Suzukis is no secret and this sports tourer just adds to that love. Taller and more adventure styled than the Suzuki GSX 1000 GT, this Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX is the perfect crossover between Adventure, Sports and Tourer. More comfy than the Yamaha, cheaper than the BMW and with more tech than both. Just lovely.

I’ve had both 4 and 6 cylinder in line bikes which were super smooth. But I’m now back on V and horizontal twins, they wobble, rattle and cannot be described as smooth. But and it’s a big but, they are so much more characterful and enjoyable to ride. I wish Suzuki would do away with all the letters of the models. Give them a name like Katana etc

Excellent review TAYM, love the sound of a four cylinder engine. After owning 28 bikes to date including parallel and 'V' twins, I always end up purchasing one with four cylinders, and, I'm fortunate to have four different options in the garage, just waiting for warmer weather 😊.
Looking forward to your next mutter, ride safe 👍.

Magnificent motorcycle. What you were saying about bits from here and there in the bike’s make-up, the same was said about my ZZR1200. They said the ZZR1200 was a parts bin bike.
Well, my pats bin Zed has about 64, 000 miles on it and we had some unbelievable adventures in those miles… I’d imagine this Suzuki is capable of that, and more!
Cheers Mr TAYM, have a wonderful week!

It's a nice looking bike, one of the best from Suzuki so far and probably the most practical for comfortable touring. It'll be interesting to see your thoughts on a longer test ride, some say the suspension is on the soft side even although it's electronically adjustable. I would have expected a bit more fuel economy, it's less than my ZZR 1400 and not much better than my Rocket 3. Both of which have good reason to drink a bit of forward propellent 😲😂

Mark Pulling had the same criticism of the bike's wind protection too so it's not simply due to your greater height because he's seemingly a similar size chap to Dave. That said, you both had the screen at its lowest setting.

    • @TAYM

    • @TAYM
      @TAYM  6 месяцев назад

The popular belief is that it is a bit soft but given the electronics I am not sure it wouldn’t stiffen up. It seemed fine on the smooth at a quicker pace but also rode the old broken roads with comfort without wallowing🤔 I guess it is down the middle 😁 thanks KNN😁

These tall sports tourers are the onlu ST's that fit me well, tried the GT and found it too cramped. At one time i'd have been seriously interested in this bike, but i dont need or want this much power anymore. Also at one time, IL4's were the main engine configuration i wanted and bought, but i prefer twins now. I also like like decent fuel consumption these days, even Suzuki only give this bike as 45 mpg, but this old K5 lump is from an era when no one cared about mpg.
But saying all that, its a Suzuki, it'll be a great bike and supremely reliable. For that i will probably test ride one and it'll also relive my days of riding powerful smooth IL4's. But it isn't a bike i would buy now.

When Suzuki released the 800 VStrom I wondered if it was a precursor to ending production of the 650. Now that they have another adventure road-biased 1000, is the 1050 VStrom endangered? I realize they have many fans of the v-twins, but they seem to be on a cost-cutting binge. Those v-twins cost more to build, though the basic designs have more than paid for themselves. Can Suzuki afford to build bikes that compete with other bikes in their own model range? I’d be tempted to buy a v-twin VStrom soon if I wanted a new one.

If I could be tempted from my v strom……. This could be it. But elec suspension, tft. I prefer twins and older tech. I had a k5 gsx1000 in 2005 I think. I went to Scotland on it and sold it as too skeletally challenged for my creaky frame. However that engine is a beast, had a few powerful bikes but lasting memory of that engine. Nice one TAYM just confirms I like what I’ve got

A journeyman motorcycle for the journeyman .
It looks a bit "transformer-ish" , but I bet it will do a good job of taking you on your touring holiday to wherever and back ( but only on paved roads ) .The weight is about normal for a biggish bike , is it well balanced or top heavy like the Vstrom ?
The amount of electronic control over the power and handling is impressive, or worrying , depending on your point of view .
A bike to keep for a good time , not a long time .

I don't like most modern motorcycle design tbh and l wonder how many of us are being totally honest.
Too many triangles, scaffolding, cheap led lights and silly electronics don't impress me.
It all appears to be a cost cutting exercise.
Rolex don't have a digital watch, my point being, we now have these TFT Screens which are cheap and nasty compared to the beautiful analog clocks.
Headlights are becoming a thing of the past and have been replaced by a Beak with a Cyclopes led eye.
This Suzuki has a wonderful motor but it seriously lack character.
