The only way I can tell a tack from a gybe is the jib luffs a bit more on a tack...apparant wind so far forwad
A few things give it away, if you want a fast way to recognise it, the most obvious sign that for a tack you turn into the board drop. As for a gybe the board you drop is on the outside of the turn.
