Storm chasers, like myself, who do end up in the storm, do it for research purposes. I’m also a meteorology student so it’s pretty common for us to be and about following damage paths and photographing damage for research purposes as well damage assessment. So I definitely don’t agree with the average Joe being out there for the fun of it because one wind gust and piece of debris later, you could dead or seriously injured.
