- Hi, this is a test of the envelope follower on the KOMA Elektronik Field Kit. I test the envelope follower using a series of homemade instruments, a toy piano, as well as a mini OM synth.
I appreciate the thorough overview and explanation of what’s happening. I for one appreciate all the commentary. Keep it up Scott.
thanks so much!
I loved this video! I saw a commenter ask for shorter videos, don't worry about that, other people do short uninformative videos. I had a hard time understanding the envelope follower from the Koma manual, this made it really easy. I love all the extra talk too, it isn't typical youtuber fluff, it's all gold. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.
Greetings from Mexico! I got a field kit last October and I have to admit that you and your videos convinced me to get it. I see some people comment that they want you to talk less; however, I want to thank you for making these kind of videos: they feel like you are letting us into your space and have a conversation. I going back to Burbank next October and I hope to get the Field Kit FX!
thanks, great to hear about your purchase!
I really appreciate how thorough your videos are. I’d love to see you put out some shorter/edited versions so that I don’t have to watch for 40 minutes before you actually make any sounds.
that's a great idea, will try for a few in the future.
Thank you for this! Great thoughts on the workstation stuff you mentioned. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately, one reason I’m selling my Roland groove box and ordered a field kit! So many great products I’m just not not inspired enough and just love original explorations with sounds never heard before. So excited! My, Koma field kit shipped today.
that's great, can't wait to hear what you create! Good luck!
Hi all, some food for thought since so many of the comments seem to focus on talking. venturebeat.com/2016/12/04/our-8-second-attention-span-and-the-future-of-news-media/
This is great! Thank you for taking the time and energy to put this up! I have attempted to create content and get it online, and I am aware of the effort it takes to get it done and get it done well. I think a lot of the folks that are making comments here granted they are from a bit of time ago, I have no clue what it takes to make a video of this nature. So thank you for your efforts. Is there a possibility that you could perhaps share the links of the names of the folks that you name checked? Particularly the gentleman that sells things on Etsy, I'm rewinding trying to catch his name and I keep missing it. Thanks again, and I hope wherever you are you and yours are happy healthy and safe in all of this crazy pandemic absurdity
"What I'm doing here is not - musically interesting..." -- I think John Cage would certainly take issue with that statement! :) Cool sounds - thanks for posting!
thanks, you're right!
Woah, that instrument thing you brought on around 30 minutes in is soooo frikkin cool. I love electricity sounds, and I have just got my field kit. Those sorts of sounds are very much the sort of thing I want to go for. Electrical and industrial sounds. Could you give me some advice on where to buy or how to build one of those?
Thank you.
Hi, thanks so much for your comments. If you are referring to the black drone box, that is from Rucci, handmadeelectronicinstruments.com
Hi Scott, just stumbled upon your videos, very nice stuff, thanks for all.
What is this "6 pad sensitive synth" unit you expose around minute 31? Can't find anything on the internet about it, can you give me a link or hint?
it is called a crackle synth or an om synth, you can get them as low as $25 bucks
Thank you for the video. Would love to know more about that solder that helped you with soldering. Could not quite get the name.
Rosen core solder or flux.
Thnx for these video's! Indeed, with a bit of editing these video's can be extremely useful for those interested in the Field Kit. There's way too much talking and not enough sound examples. Just my positive feedback.
Thanks for your feedback. Each video maker has his/her own style.
Scott is quite the teacher/lecturer and that can be more important than just expository demos sometimes. I really learn a lot from this channel, not just for my Field Kit, but electro-acoustic workflow (and possibilities) in general.
Less prancin more dancin
Way toooo much talking
there are other videos for you to watch.
Just get on with it.
Leon Trimble I make a point of not making rude comments on social media or RUclips. You never quite know what people are going through in their lives, and so why trammel their passions. What provokes people to lash out in this way, I do not understand, but I wish you future opportunities to overcome the masculine anxieties and aggressions that result in you making such comments.
hey i really appreciate you making these videos but i think a little editing might leave people a little less frustrated. keep up the great work!
Leon Trimble yes, they are volunteer in terms of my time and don’t represent any views other than my own
thanks man, i just want to hear more sound examples...
Finding myself thinking the same thing... I mean this with the best intentions and mean this only as feedback. You tend to go on a bit. I appreciate what you’re doing and find the info very helpful but I agree with Leon Trimble in that some editing could do a lot for your vids
