He is a particularly good choice for directing this series. Also, I love how the actor playing Gomez looks like he came out of one of the original comic strip. It's great that they didn't go the route of finding a Raul Julia look a like. As great as he was in the part, he didn't really look like the original.

To be fair, she's probably fully aware of the situation. Everyone loves her Wednesday best of all, and she's got nothing to prove. There's plenty to share with the next generation, and she wants Jenna to be successful too. The best that's going to happen is Jenna manages to tie in popularity as the character. A solid century from now, when people are watching "old movies" and such, and they come across the original show, the movies we know, the cartoons and such, and this show...they're going to prefer the movies, hands down. It's just too hard to top any of those actors portrayals. They nailed everything about the cores of the characters from the original show, AND they managed to add a dark flair that blended seemlessly into it all. They're dark and a bit warped, but they've very clearly "good" people. The only ones who would ever fear being around them are those who get hung up on the superficiality of appearance. The fact is, so long as you don't screw with them, they won't do a damned thing to you. And even if you do, they don't really act disproportionately to whatever it was.
It's actually really subtle, because of how eccentric they are, the audience often has the same idea of them that the "normies" in the story do. It's just that the audience identifies the Addams' as the protagonists, and enjoys seeing their antics, so they're amused instead of frightened (and, it's just a movie, so they know they're safe).

It is a modern world we live in after all; a Hollywood star shouldn’t have to rely on old fashioned stairs for their eyes anymore. And where are her eyes going that they need stairs anyways? Seems odd to me. But I do like the idea of detachable eyes that can go somewhere on their own; kind of like how Thing is a disembodied hand.

Actually you can. Wednesday in the original series was a pretty thin character. They didn't do much with her. It was the 90s movies that went back to the original comic strip, pulled ideas and then re-invented the character. If I had a Criticism of both the 90s movies and the current Wednesday, its how Lurch has been forgotten and relegated to the side. Lurch was what made the original TV who pop!. You ask any old generation what they love about the original TV show, Lurch is usually the answer. Tim should have brought back the original Lurch for a couple of episodes or even for the pilot (as Wednesday is settling in). It would have been a great contrast to Wednesday.

I cannot describe how much I'm looking forward to this series.
There was a series of Webisodes of a series called "Adult Wednesday Addams".
The actress was phenomenal, and the scripts were hilarious, but of course, as she was unlicensed, she was given a cease and desist order.
Pity, the series was REALLY working, and now that we see Wednesday spun off in her own series I can understand why they shut her down, but I've always said the producers need to STOP shutting down the fan films, and start mining them for both ideas and talent.
    Seriously,
RUclips is a goldmine of unofficial audition tapes that the producers are NOT exploiting to their continued detriment.
I have a complete collection of the Adult Wednesday Addams series, and in my opinion it's a legitimate part of my complete Addams Family DVD collection.
My set wouldn't be as [nearly] complete without it.
I say nearly because I'm missing a late 70's Addams Family variety show that had Butch Patrick taking over the role of Pugsley.

Studios in general have become more and more negative towards fan projects in recent years. They feel as if somehow the fan films will hurt the license versus keeping it alive. Disney and CBS are bad about that regarding Star Wars and Star Trek as they shut down pretty much all fan films once new official projects were being worked on, especially in the case of Star Trek.

    • @Voodoomaria
      @Voodoomaria Год назад +3

@@alucard624 It's mostly because of what I pointed out, they don't understand the material, to the studios it's just another money project, to the Fans it's an institution with a history.
Cross the fans, show no respect for the source material and you will fail.
      Thunderbirds.
A wildly popular series in 1965.
John Frakes of Star Trek directed a movie reboot in 2004, it bombed.
      Why?
Even though Director Frakes represented himself as a fan of the series, he didn't give the Fans Thunderbirds.
He gave them "Spy Kids" instead.
7 of the 8 members of the Tracy family, AND their chief scientist engineer were sidelined for 99% of the film to focus on the youngest member of the family, teaming up with two other teens and assisted for far too short a time by Lady Penelope, and Parker.
The Tech which was the biggest draw of the series originally was on screen for only moments.
It was ALL there, EVERYTHING the fans wanted, BUT Frakes, who claimed fandom DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT MADE THE SERIES SO POPULAR IN THE FIRST PLACE.
      And so... He blew it.
Flash Forward 11 years to 2015, and the rebooted series "Thunderbirds Are GO".
The Tech is updated, ALL the major characters are there, Homages are made to the original series [spot the orange juicer] and the scripts are full of action and suspense, just like the original.
One relatively passive and dated female character from the original series is removed, and replaced with a more up-to-date- version who is PART OF THE TEAM, Not overshadowing, or replacing the team and you have a very successful series [The original ran for two seasons, the reboot for THREE].
Again, ALL the elements were there INCLUDING involvement from the creative staff of the original series AND a cameo episode starring the voice of the ORIGINAL lady Penelope, Sylvia Anderson.
      Result, HIT SHOW.
Compare for YOURSELF the three versions of the series and you can CLEARLY see the recipe for success for ANY fan based show, and it can all be summed up in a couple of words, RESEARCH, and RESPECT.
There is absolutely NO reason for these fan driven franchises to fail.
They FAIL because of the arrogance, and ignorance of people who THINK they know better than the people who MADE the show successful in the first place.

@John Bryer Oh that's alright, I'll explain then. You were saying that you heard women don't become mentally adult before the age of 25 years old.
I don't know where you heard that, but on a psychological and neurological standpoint, girls mature faster than boys.
Scientifically speaking, it's been proven that their amygdala and pre-frontal cortex are more developed than those of boys. Most parents can also tell you, if they've had both boys and girls, that little girls become adults, and are interested in being treated as adults quite quickly compared to little boys.
My comment was a joke, using your own comment as a basis.
If girls become mature at 25, I was saying that then, most boys never become mature at all, ever. But it's been heard that some do.
Of course, the reality is that although women mature more quickly if we measure maturity by normal standards of responsibility, critical thinking, autonomy, and things like that, there are probably as many adult men and women who are mature and immature. It's just that women tend to get there faster than men.

Christina was wonderful, and was a perfect Wednesday, don't get me wrong, and I believe she was the best to play Wednesday at the age she was portrayed in the movies, and I truly loved her performance. That being said, as a teen, Jenna is the one for sure.
Everything Wednesday should be as a teen was perfectly brought out by Jenna in this series. A haunting beauty like her mother, a wit stronger than a bear trap and lightning fast, all with that wonderfully disturbing look and demeanor, as well as being an icon for self-empowerment. I also gotta give kudos for her skills with fencing, and her acting is spot on.
I'm so glad Christina was a part of the new show too, I believe she earned her place there. And to be so supportive of Jenna says a lot about her as a person as well. She will always have a place in my heart as one of my more memorable actresses. I have a feeling that Jenna will too :)

Christina played the role 10 times better, the change of character didn't do the new Wednesday any good. It's just lacking in acting and she diverged too much from the original character which is sad cause there's lots of 90s kids who could identify with her, and now it's so dissapointing watching this new series for sure, only watched 1 and 2 eps and I turned it off, the production was not the best either idk nothing really made sense or connected for me sadly.
