I love every note Gary ever played. The first time I ever heard him play, I became a disciple. It was a life changing moment and listening to him play will never get old. Thanks to Gary, I've Still Got The Blues. He was a friggin' genius and I miss him every day. Rock on brother. RIP.
Agreed - I HATE shredding. I've got no kick against fast picking when it's done WITH TONE and articulation, but that tonally uniform, stiff, mechanical, metal shredding - Let's just say it's NOT my scene...
you two are crazy... many shredders site gary moore - guitarists who shred respect the guys who came before and innovated... you guys sound like fucking millennials the way u bitch and moan.
@@kewlfonz Actually there is someone that fits this bill - and - dare I say? - is better! That would be John Sykes, who is from the Gary Moore school but with gasoline poured on top if it.
@@scotto0010 The real acid test is can Sykes play clean guitar without bass and drums? I'm sure being a pro guitarist he can. However, what made Gary such a strong player, is that even without fuzz/gain and a bassist and drummer backing him up, he can play super RHYTHMIC lead guitar that stands up in its own right without fuzz and a backing band. Not all guitarists can play rhythmic lead guitar without ANY backing like Gary - they need TONS of fuzz and bass & drums...
I loved the partnership between Gary and Phil Lynott on bass - their Irish souls created great music which was world beating - pity Phils addiction messed that up. Gary is the only guitarist who can stop me in my tracks when Im doing something else and I happen to hear even a moment of his playing. Heart and soul , master of his art. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
Crikey I miss this man, taught me anything that was any good on the guitar. He had all the tricks but the biggest thing was the feel and emotion he gave in every recording and performance he made. They'll never be another Gaz.
It's sad that Gary never received the mainstream popularity that he so deserved. I think he is one of the greatest guitarists of my lifetime. He did it all and was so good at it all.
Thanks for posting this beautiful snapshot of Gary showcasing his awesome talent in such a simple, relaxed and intimate setting. Gary always played with fire, passion and sensitivity from deep in his heart, because he loved what he did. He moved us deeply and spoke directly to our souls. Surely this is the true essence of music and musicianship, no matter what label it's given? Thank you for the music Gary. Miss ya dude.
Not caring about who might be the best, I popped by today to see a video I've not seen before. Suddenly I realise I miss the guy, his playing, and all that he meant to many people. What a sad loss. Who cares who's best? My late brother and his band learned to gig in a garage. My eldest brother made our lives a misery, learning chords in the kitchen, hour after hour, and I was too young to complain. I'm crap on a twelve string. And a six. And a four. But, we all love it. Thanks, Gary x
So badly missed, but your music and soul will live on forever Gary. R.I.P , and easily 1 of the most underrated guitarists of all time, and I don't say that lightly, as many are way over rated.
niceguy217 I'm 27 and I'm really bummed I just barely started listening to his music. So underrated in my opinion, I had never heard of him when I was a teenager
Watch the man with such speed, greatness and much more when he had a guitar in his hands. Do not say that you were not impressed or in a state of awe because no matter what he did, he was so great and no one will ever play as great as him!
I have been playing the guitar for 35 years and just dream about having the dexterity that this man had. Gary Moore was one of the most physical and soulful players of his time, you could just tell by his expression and interaction with his guitar that he was a really unique musician. We all miss hearing and seeing you play those awesome riffs Gary, now you can jam with the legends forever......R.I.P. my friend.
I have never heard anyone contest that he was not one of the greats, but I run into people who do not even know who he was and then some who say oh the guy from Thin Lizzy? Well one album Black Rose but that is not what he was known for....his solo career material is just brilliant from every aspect. Rest easy Gary you taught us well. He stood out to me for his combination of feeling, power, melody and technique. When his pinky and ring finger locked up on his picking hand he was ready to release a mountain of tension. Not to mention he had one of the greatest tones ever. I have been a fan a long time close to 20 years and I never recall seeing him play a Tele.
Gary was a force of nature a true trail blazer so many have followed his Blues /Rock style but will never equal his talent the man was truly one of a kind followed him when I was 16 I'm 58 today and still can't believe he's gone. you obviously know nothing about music. The man was playing a guitar before he was ten years old and has played with some of the greatest musicians the world has seen.
The most soulful and fearless guitarist of all time. although I haven't heard about him until after his passing, he inspires me just as much as if he's still alive. Respect in peace Gary
Gary Moore is a true guitar legend! He is dead but remains as the best guitar player of all times. Nobody else comes even close to him as a master of the guitar.
+Nuno Silva WELL SAID, there are a lot of pretentious guitarists out there who are in the so called hall of fame who know damn well that Gary Moore was the finest ever and they should not rest until Gary has the recognition he so greatly deserves
Still love him, miss him and can't listen to his songs or our song without my heart in my throat. Will never take the ring off Gary a promise is a promise even from all those years ago. I want the phone to ring here at 3 a.m. so badly just even one more time . "still and nothing" always love.
Thanks for the memories and the endless inspiration. Speaking to Gary here, you gave me, along with Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, Richie Blackmore, Jimmy Page et al. the one passion that's never ceased to be the spice of my entire life! Hope you're enjoying your little piece of pie in the sky! RIP
That and I hope they're all there trying to out play each other so I can sit down in the back and just take it all in. Stevie, George Harrison, Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, etc. etc. etc. Nope...I'm not afraid of dying...I'm looking forward to seeing them all again.
I never heard anybody make a Gibson Les Paul sing the way Gary did. His combination of technique and feel was second to none. It's all the more reason he is sorely missed.
I'm not a fan of guitarists who play a million notes for the sake of it, but Gary was one of the exceptions for me, he played with soul and feel that only a few guitarists possess, plus he was in my favourite band so I'm slightly biased. Thanks for doing what you did fella. RIP Gazza.
i listened to his cover of " the messiah will come again" live millions of time and every time i find my self amazed about how he played it from the day my friend played still got the blues on his car i decided to drop my calssical guitar and flamenco music i told him this is what i want to learn .....so thank you gary for all the inspiracions
Can you image waking up every morning and there's Gary's ghost playing away on a chair just like in this clip in your bedroom while you shave and brush your teeth. Happily blasting your ears off with riff after awesome riff. How happy would you be before work. That would be heaven. Thanks Sir Moorester for all the good times and all the great music you left us behind. God bless ya!
Anybody that play lead guitar like that while simultaneously holding down a beat is phenomenal. Sadly gone way too soon. His attack on the fretboard is what set him apart.
What I love about Gary is his tremendous playing is done pretty much with his 1st 2 fingers, even at his fastest playing, and that's coming form a guitarist of 25 years ;)
Hey, I have an advice to everyone around, something I've learned after Mr. Moore passed away and it's the advice that I've been trying to hold on since: If you have any artist, any performer, any anyone who you think you should absolutely see, grab your coat and go! Seen hundreds of bands over the years but one of my biggest regrets is only catching Moore twice. One with Lizzy and once with G-Force (they were dire). Could kick myself for the times I passed up the chance to see him solo in the 80's!!
I don't care what anyone says this man was one of the true greats
i totally agree with you
WITHOUT ANY DOUBTS!!!!!!

Ditto minus his last note. RIP Gary!
I ❤ and miss him every day
An absolute master with a very special touch on the guitar who always played every note with fire! Gary, you are remembered and continue to inspire...
You can keep all your shredders, No one had the feel but still the speed of Gary. A true master x

What a huge talent Gary Moore was. Absolutely one of the best guitarists ever to grace this planet.

Gary Moore is one of my favorite guitar players, but he wasn't Allan Holdsworth.
It's always noted how much guitar talent came from the Yardbirds and John Mayall's band. I have to add Thin Lizzy to that list.

A joy to watch Gary playing with a smile on his face.
First time I hear a solo without background music that I like. Really great player. A shame he's gone.
Don't know why, but he's got some different notes on his guitar to mine. Can't seem to find them anywhere!
maybe he has a different version that's very simliar.
vajraloka1 I was tongue in cheek! - standard tuning.
that's how you can tell a true master!
+Tubemonks Have you tried the bottle? Sometimes you can find the notes in there?
+Reb Short Funnily enough I have but when I play I can hear them clearly but no one else can! Odd that.
Gary may be gone, but his music will live forever.....what more could a person want from their life......

Gary ,just got to know his greatness right before he passed ,what a talent . He is still bending them strings with the Almighty Blues Band
Damn. I so nearly got to meet you via a mutual friend in the music business. Rest in peace Gary.
