    You just made my Mandarin learning world a much better place! I just checked out the option to export into Excel. Now I have a hardcopy of the whole script! I use LLN for a few days but couldn't find any information at which location LLN saves! I went through all the info materials! I want to go through a whole movie, subtitles by subtitle. There's a good chance that Netflix removes the movie from the catalogue before I finish! Now, after having found another source for the movie I still can finish without depending on Netflix! It is really an amazing tool! I did what LLN does with music software, word and excel in the early 2000s for my English learning and it cost me hours and days! That's public education at its best! Thank you! 🤗💐❤

    As a native English speaker, I would say the characters in Game of Thrones speak more or less like modern Brits using the Received Pronunciation accent. Except Little Finger and Davos Seaworth, who both have Irish accents. I think one can definitely learn to speak British English by watching Game of Thrones. Especially considering that in medieval times, the British accents were completely different (for instance, most were rhotic back then, while most modern British are non-rhotic, with the West Country accent being among the exceptions), whereas in the show, the accents are all modern.

    Hello Fàn, today in Netflix LLR no longer offers Pinyin subtitles and movies I already watched in Mandarin no longer offer Mandarin audio! Do you know anything about that?

    • @RitaChinese
      @RitaChinese  2 года назад

      Hey thanks for your comment! I just checked it out, and found that 1) it's called ""Language Reactor" now; 2) if it has Chinese subtitles or which type of subtitles it has depend on the movie/show. Like "Wandering Earth" only has traditional character subtitles, but "Nezha" has both simplified and traditional subtitles! Hope this helps!

    • @boredgrass
      @boredgrass 2 года назад

      @@RitaChinese Yes, it is language reactor. same movies I watched a few months ago + others, Chinese characters still offered but none whatsoever has PINYIN SUBTITLES nor in dictionary MANDARIN. IN ALL MOVIES PINYIN SUBTITLES GONE! Also curious: In movies where I had a few months ago 10 or more languages in the subtitle list there is now only Spanish (European) and English! Another thing that appears to be totally gone is "natural language translation " There seems to be only "technical"! But I will take a closer look at traditional characters.

    Issue 99% teen comedy: My big problem Netflix "across the countries" (VPN) I only found tv shows in the romantic comedy genre for teenagers. Do you have suggestions for *tv shows for people who don't need "fun"? Among movies I found two titles in SF plus the wonderful "The 9th precinct" which delves into the role of ancesters in Chinese culture, though I would be interested to hear from you how well they tackled this subject. On my journey to fluency in English I found tv series extremely helpful because you become familiar with the vocabulary of the characters and vocabulary that renders their environment. That means less dictionary interruptions ;-)

    I don't have many Chinese where I live. So I watch alot of Chinese Netflix. I think im good at mimicking how they speak. I should be more studious when watching. Like review all the dialogue. But its a passive way to study without studying. Although I can't watch too complicated things. I can do romantic comedy sitcom. I can always guess when they will accidentally bump into each other or one falls and their lips touch on accident. But sci fi or fancy talk im lost. I do good till there's a word I don't know then I'm lost. I did use something I learned afew weeks ago. I said 哭笑不得 to this massage therapist when she hit a sore spot. I felt smart but then she started talking to me above what I can understand lol. Also once I heard a lady answer her phone at Walmart wei!!! From the next aisle. So I go to chat with her. I totally forgot I had gotten a chemical burn at work . My wrist had a nice big burn and a little on my forehead . I had ointment on it. She's all nice at first but then watching her face as she thinks who is this weirdo talking to me as she's slowly awkwardly waking away. It was hilarious.

      @@RitaChinese Definitely! I'm even taking some notes (on my iPad) of phrases I think could be useful. I'm writing both the Chinese characters and the pinyin because I can't read Chinese yet.

    For me I have watched and liked 2 mainland Chinese dramas:
    1. Youth (on youtube) = Light hearted drama about 5 university girls staying in 1 house. Is funny and have good storyline.
    2. The little nyonya (on IQIYI) = history about how chinese family lives in Malaysia and adopts its culture in 1930's. Has good storyline and good life learning lessons.
