I particularly like the Chaingun in this mod. Higher dps keeps it relevant in combat, and it retains most of its original accuracy, but tapfiring is minimum 4 ammo now - making it more wasteful (though that is just enough to kill an Imp), but not so much that it's unreliable. The startup manages to not feel grindingly slow, either. The only thing is that it's so strong it can break a lot of vanilla Doom encounters.
Ah Babel. I have a fondness for this mod, it's changed a lot since its early days. Fun fact: I submitted the sprites for the Plasma SMG, though back then I was still really green when it came to kitbashing and doing spritework, Babel dev refuses to change anything about it cus he likes it. Bless him. I don't know if you take recommendations or not, but if you haven't heard of DAKKA I highly recommend looking into that in the near future.
I remember playing it when it was still in development, it's a damn solid mod that was on my radar and then went under it for a good 4 years, possibly more. The plasma SMG does look quite nice, so I can see why he doesn't want to change it. Also, I do requests! I've already showcased DAKKA but am yet to play something with it, there's just so much good stuff to get through haha. I've been thinking about Combined Arms again as well as GMOTA. I'll probably wait until GMOTA's next update rolls around but honestly, every version of it feels like its own thing and plays somewhat differently. I don't know how you do it, man. Kudos.
@@matteldrydge How the hell did I miss the DAKKA video? Lmao. Also I feel like you could make multiple videos outta Combined_Arms thanks to all of the different classes. With any luck I can get another GMOTA update out before the year is done, it won't be the big final update I wanted to do, but it'll still have a fixed up Blaz, an overhauled Doomslayer, and Kustam's triumphant return. As for how I do it, it's cus I love what I do. That and I wanna make these mods the best I can before I move onto standalone games.
@@Combine_Kegan To be fair there's like a hundred of these videos, which is a bit surreal to think about. Same with me doing this for two years now, today's actually the day I started my channel in fact. I *could* split Combined Arms up but I feel kinda dirty about it. Feels like I'm fishing for views by separating content when it's probably best to have it all in one package. I know I'd prefer watching a video with all the classes separated wit timestamps, so that's probably what I'll do. Lest I forget, best of luck with your projects. I'll be there when you do move to the next level.
Yeah, I think Babel is perfectly fine and great in what it sets out to achieve. It's a solid mod regardless if you use its weapons or monsters-only versions.
Hey why didn't you show the ability to swap shotguns without waiting for the reload, and the reload itself, which can be interrupted at any moment by switching weapons, and upon returning, it will continue from where it was interrupted? This seems to be a rather unique feature; I haven't seen anything like it in other mods. You can fire a double-barreled shotgun, then immediately from a shotgun, then switch to a chaingun-all without reloading and so on, various combinations.
Sure, here's a short list. -Protocol Disposable -Azuryte -Standard Issue 1 and 2 -Atom Rain Gamma Vektor -Atom Rain X Protocol -Nightmare Logic series -Black Magwell if you want something more vanilla At least one of these will fit the bill.
@@matteldrydge Please, drop a link for SI 1 (and i mean more weapons, like shotguns, snip. rifles, carbines, ARs, pistols, realistic stuff, no op weapons with the exception of grenade launchers)
@Russian_guy91 I'm not going to fish mods for you. I listed the ones I know of, have played and enjoy playing. As for SI 1, look for it in allfearthe sentinel. It should be in there - I'd link it but RUclips will mark it as spam and delete my comment.
The weapons are nice but I feel like the monsters are more impressive
Agreed, the AI for them is really impressive.

I think it's a fair trade given it chews through ammo quickly. You do more damage overall but you have to keep it fed.

I feel extremely called out by this.
Face rockets are the best rockets, as they say. :P
@@matteldrydge It's definitely a more effective option to get those pesky wrinkles away instead of using botox.
This is very good but Im liking leds generic weapons a little more. But babel enemies are just as good as SDO enemies.

The bfg charge sound so goofy lmao
It's pretty distinctive at least.
Chaingun feels like a minigun
It's a minigun in anything but name so yeah, checks out.

Mostly because I forgot, but it does have the side effect of people discovering things on their own so I don't mind it. It's as shrimple as that.

What key do you even press for the weapon descriptions?
It's reload, sorry for forgetting to mention that anywhere in the video.
