I wasn't gonna watch this video after the first few seconds. As your internet friend I'll give it a chance. 👍🏻
Edit: It was worth giving a chance. And I hate the idea of some of these older levels being lost to time

Would love to see a multiplayer version of this w/ multiplayer maps. Great work love the vids

Honestly, I can see why you chose the covenant, it's an amazing level, and the best one to get your friends into halo, but I would have chosen the silent cartographer, although this is probably nostalgia speaking, I love that level. Great video btw

@Kieran Toohey That one is a really cool level as well

nah, not just nostalgia. Silent Cartographer has a level of atmopshere and immersion that was lost in the sequels. The way the level only lightly guides you in the direction you're supposed to go in, instead of always telling you exactly where to go, together with those little moments with alternate routes is what makes it better than the covenant imo

Silent Cartographer is a good level, but that's definitely just nostalgia talking. Literally everything that makes Halo Halo is in the level The Covenant

I partially agree, but i played halo for the first time in 2017, so my nostalgia isn't of the glory days, i played it alone on my dad´s PC (it was a pirated version of halo 1 lol). The covenant just wasn't as fun when i played it for the first time compared to the silent cartographer.

Knew that Titanfall level was gonna make it.
I still remember accidentally jumping off and managing to board the Wraith at my friend’s house. We tried to do it again a couple of times and never did manage, haha.

    My top 4:
    1. Doom Eternal - Blood Swamps (It just provides the absolute best FPS experience I have ever played. Doom Eternal is pretty much a perfect game to me, and the Blood Swamps is the perfection on top of the perfection)
    2. Duke Nukem 3D - Hollywood Holocaust/Redlight District (I can't pick between the two. They're both just so iconic, and are amongst the first levels I think of when I think of FPS games)
    3. Payday 2 - Big Bank (BIG Payday 2 fan, and Big Bank's release was definitely the peak of the golden days of Payday 2. Such an epic mission, and the Ode To Greed theme is just perfectly fitting)
    4. Halo 3 - Halo (Such a huge, epic way to finish off the trilogy. The Warthog escape at the end is just so badass and memorable)

I agree 2016 has a more doom like level design unlike Mario Eternal with spinning fire balls. I can also see your opinion with hell in 2016 being more hell. Like hell should be suffering, sorrow, depressive and 2016 hell does that with the pale tone and grey red sky. But Eternals hell is much more unique with hell capitals, ruined cities, lava, skulls. Plus the ancient gods dlc has the blood swamps wich is so unique for a place in hell?!

It’s a double edged sword I’d say, on one hand I like me some cool new environments and level themes, but I do also miss the hell and suffering of 2016 hell levels

Was starting to wonder if you were gonna include a halo level at all, haha. Very much enjoyed this video, and the red faction gameplay looked pretty fun. I enjoy games that allow for that level of interactivity with the world

If you've not played Turok yet
    Please play Turok.
I would say Turoks opening Jungle levels are pretty iconic, but the most standout moment, for me, is probably near the end of the game, where you are literally jumping between enemy towers while blowing apart enemy Mechs with end game weaponry, which in Turok is everything from Plasma Guns to Cosmic Nukes.
    It's pretty cool.
Turok 2 also has amazing levels. The opening level, The Port of Adia, will always hold a place in my heart, wherein you are blowing through a port city that's under attack from cyborg dinos as you do your utmost to sound the alarms and rescue any survivors
But the level after is also incredibly cool, wherein you're tearing through the inner city trying to stop a zombie apocalypse by fighting off ghost witches and blowing up zombie portals
A few levels after that you're blowing through, count them, not 1, but 2 alien spaceships, blowing up all their spawning and production facilities and wrecking hell on anyone you see, with, again, everything from Plasma Rifles to handheld Nukes.
    Turok is amazing.

COD 4: Crew Expendable.. is one that comes to mind, glad to see Prey (2017) have a mention that game is criminally underrated.

Good video man, i agree. I personally am a big fan of Outskirts and metropolis from H2 i always loved skipping across those rooftops and doing a very similar and rare chance eastwr egg to spawn the IWHBYD skull on that mission in H2. But I can't deny the covenant is a hell of a level

Listen, the train level from Blood is still the best "on a moving train" level ever created.

Hey, I just beat the covenant for the second time today. It turns out that a scorpion with a spartan in it is more than a match for a scarab.
My favorite fps level is probably e2m1 from the citadel. It's where the game starts to really open up and emphasize verticality and platforming, and where it really focuses on it's strengths: complex gunplay and movement created by an almost exclusively projectile based arsenal, and a very agile player character. Also having like a million guns, as the game uses an arsenal and this level introduces it's third automatic weapon.

Even though it was heavily scripted and technically it's impossible to fail it, the opening mission in Battlefield 1 called Storm of Steel was brilliant.

Great list, but I wish you added Assault from the first Crysis. I don't know how you feel about the Crysis games. But I believe Crysis 1 & Warhead have some of the best sandbox gameplay in the genre.

E1M1 from The Ultimate Doom. It’s the most iconic and replayed map of Doom, maybe of any FPS game out there.

  • @ArrakisOCE

This was a good video, but I would have expected to see Quake at no.1, with Doom E1M1 and Duke Nukem Hollywood Holocaust also near the top.

I would have included Mars core from Doom eternal but then I realized that its just the gameplay that makes eternal stand out, the levels are better IMO in Doom 2016, not to discredit mars core, but the level design has to take the back seat sometimes to allow the gameplay to be better

Not seeing anything about p-2 from ultrakill is abit sad. If anyone plays ultrakill and has done p-2 will say there is no fps game with a level as hard and euphoric as p-2.

I don't think The Covenant is that good. It's just a bunch of disjointed set pieces, like a Call of Duty level. Almost every level in Halo CE is better imo.
