I love hearing his stories. I didn't know Agent Steel tried to make him get a tattoo of their symbol, and he almost lost that gig for refusing. That was a hilarious story.
This is by far the best James Murphy interview I have ever heard. He pretty much goes over everything that happened with Agent Steel, Death and Obituary. I always wondered about some of the issues with Agent Steel, and why that didn't work out. OMG all the stuff they put him though, no wonder he didn't stay with them lol wow
Everything Murphy touches turns to gold! His leads on Cause of Death are the most badass shredding I've heard! All I know is this...THE WORLD NEEDS A SECOND DISINCARNATE ALBUM!! BLESS US JAMES!!!!
I just love the way James gives a great interview. Plenty full, coherent, descriptive, and colorful, but cashes back, shredding unplugged like Swisgaar! \m/ \m/
Absolutely loved this. Thank you all for putting this together and thank you Mr. James Murphy for your time and amazing stories. I've been such a huge fan of yours since my first listen of Cause of Death. Please please get that 2nd Disincarnate album put together the 1st one is absolutely for me the greatest of all time.
Forgot his solo on the first gorguts album and his work on Death shell rise by cancer and his work with Deron miller, Which you guys need to get him on here from Cky and now 96 bitter beings and now fronts malevolent creation
What an awesome episode. Really appreciate hearing the history of how he got into all those different bands. James Murphy was one of the first Death Metal guitarists I became aware of as I kept seeing his name appear in the line-up of my favorite albums.
I would love to see lessons from James on those old solos. I was around 14 when Spiritual Healing came out and his playing changed everything for me. Then Cause of Death really blew my mind. Melodic shred over extreme music.
It's just funny, how James talking the story at 2:07:30 of a guy, who wants to take undeserved credits for producing Spiritual healing somehow not mentioning his name. Clearly it's Erig Greif. Maybe from piety? And it's also interesting that this story completely opposites the story told in the liner notes of the album's reissue by Chucks sister Bethann.... She wrote that Chuck deeply regreted Eric's removal from credits and that's why he is credited as co-producer on the reissue. Who knows the truth. But as James was there in the studio I lean more to his side of the story...
You should get Ricky from disgorge on here, talk about the new suffocation, his underrated drumming style and going from behind the kit to frontman for the sickest band, Cheers from Quebec 🍻
Lots of Cyriis hate... probably deserved... but Agent Steel was so god damn good back in the day... "not like power metal today". They could tear the house down. I love the song "Though Your Eyes" off Feeding the Machine... didn't watch the whole interview to see if they got into James solos stuff....
So rad. Once I messaged James on Myspace back in the day tellin him I'd get him to produce my album some day! He did a local band from Kenosha Wisconsin, Lazarus A.D.! I went to school with some of those guys and they ripped. But for real, when are ya getting Scotty Burns on here????
I live in Leesville.😂 I’ve heard many people say he lived there, but I never believed it, and bam..right from the horses mouth. I’m definitely going to have to find out which bar used to be “6 titties” 💀. James has been a HUGE influence on me for over 30 years! Love that he took the time❤ 🤘🏻

I saw Disincarnate play at The Ritz in Tampa with Eulogy, About 20 People There
Are you one of those he talked about?

A man lies in the corner, covered with bludt! Classic
Chuck S: I'm sick of the wammy bar.
Trey Azagthoth: Hold my beer.
The legend…🤘
That's actually Hall of the Mountain King from the same album (Savatage)
Hell yeah! Christopher Cross - Ride Like the Wind badass!
Can’t wait until he comes back. I want to hear the rest of his story.
Great episode! Thank you guys. I love James' work, been a fan for many many years. Great conversation, I look forward to part 2.

I always love hearing about Murphy's future projects that never come to fruition! Exciting!
Glad I'm not the only one 😂

Enjoyed the interview but no questions about Testament? Also it would be nice to give vocalist more recognition on your show.
