I use a gas BBQ grill OUTDOORS to season my cast iron and avoid the fumes in the house. The caveat is I only use the BBQ grill for making pizza and bread and seasoning cast iron. I wouldn't use a normal dirty BBQ grill as crud could land on the cast iron from off the lid of the grill. I generally let my pans cool off before applying another layer of seasoning. No need to say HOT MOMMA that way lol. Very good video and excellent finished product without any fanfare.
We have a buddy in Atlanta that has a three leg gate mark dutch oven. That thing had crud, paint, and concrete mixed in it, electrolysis removed it all. This was my first experience with concrete. It did test positive for lead so it's just a decoration at this point. I think it had been in the family a long time. Scott's uncle was in upper management at BSR. Scott says he was Mr. BSR, unfortunately the gentleman has passed away. I would've liked to talk with him.
@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara Scott may have been testing me? The concrete had been poured out so it wasn't thick maybe 1/8". I've cleaned hundreds of pieces but this was my first concrete dutch oven. I don't look for this to become a trend. lol You need to make more cast iron videos because you're good. Few people on RUclips should be making cast iron cleaning videos. Cast Iron Cookware, and The Mud Broker are solid sources of information. I'm sure they aren't the only ones (trying not to offend anyone).
Thanks, I feel like I just keep repeating myself since it's basically the same process over and over. I do plan on doing a video about what pans I have on my rack. I do occasionally watch the Mudbroker. I really liked the videos where he restored his old wood cook stove.
Thanks so much for watching. Here is my video ruclips.net/video/OZ0krGuI7fE/видео.html Hope that helps. We also have a playlist devoted only to cast iron.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting.. We really appreciate it. He has restored some really rough looking pans. Always neat to see how they look restored.. before and after.
@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara Okay... but i dont undersand why ? it doesnt bite into iron like a grinding wheel just knock off the rust and junkand it doesnt take 1 week with electro - pixies it takes 10 minutes
I quit using battery chargers a couple of years ago after the 3rd one burnt up. Had a friend build me a power supply from a computer I Believe....can't remember exact voltage. Been too long but works great and haven't had any issues. Thanks so much for watching...we appreciate it .
Thanks so much for watching. I have done it that way in the past, but the last few years I just apply the oil then wipe it out really good and have never had any issues. I usually wipe them out again before use just in case any dust has collected in the pan.
We love flea market finds. Chris has too many flea market finds waiting to be cleaned and seasoned. LOL Let us know how it turns out. Thanks again VERY much appreciated
That's awesome! I have 1 or 2 cast irons I need to clean from the garage. I have washing soda. Could I just soak it in that for a while since I don't have a tank?
Such a awesome video. You are so knowledgeable on cast iron maintenance and restoration. I've never heard of an E tank. Interesting. Where did you acquire all this knowledge?
I know a lot but still have lots to learn. A lot of people know more than I do. Learn a lot from different cast iron sites I in etc. Thank you so much for watching.
I have been soaking 2 cast iron skillets in vinegar and a little water, for about 3 weeks I 've emptied the rust twice from the pans. All the rust roses o the top. I'm going to scrub them or this weekend. I was always told you should never use soap or stainless steel.
Excellent video, Chris! Thank you for sharing your expertise and tips with us! With ❤ From BanDana Gramma ❤
So nice of you.....We really appreciate your support!
Nicely done that how you do it !!!
👍👍

Yes, Chris needs to make that video soon. Thanks for watching
Looks cool! I use cast iron to cook nearly every day! Never used an e tank before! Nice!
Try it sometime. Chris has great luck with it. Thanks for your support.
Holy crap I use 24v 1amp. What are you using?

You can use lard also rite?
Absolutely :)....Thanks so much for watching.
I was always told to put it on the stove after the olive oil step to keep it from getting sticky. Is there any truth to this?

Have never seen it done like that. Definitely looks like a better way. I will be trying that soon on some flea market finds my wife picked up.

I've been wanting to do a tank like that. I have a lot of cast iron to get cleaned up. Thanks for sharing. Your friend Bryan
I know how that is . I have several in the garage waiting on me. Thanks for watching
Congratulations on the win of the crocker roast. We love you guys and great job. This is from lazy acres.
It wasnt us. Simple Life Reclaimed won...I think that was their name. But thank you anyways :)
That's awesome! I have 1 or 2 cast irons I need to clean from the garage. I have washing soda. Could I just soak it in that for a while since I don't have a tank?
No, that wouldn't work. Washing soda only works with the electrolysis.

What was the make and model of your battery charger?
I dont currently use a battery charger. I use a power unit that was made for me by a friend. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have videos on how I do mine I just have to get them from my SD card to RUclips and do a voice over because my mic wasn’t on😡
Oh BUMMER!!! Yeh, please do. We always like to see cast iron videos.
Get a lapel mic.
Hey, thanks we will look into that. Meanwhile if you have one, feel free to pass our way.
Why are you using soap? That’s a no no.
We explained in the video why soap is okay. Watch again and let us know what you think. Thanks for watching.
@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara hmm. I watched the whole thing and didn’t catch that part.
