One thing that I think's worth mentioning is why the blue smartie was the mascot chosen and not any other colour. It's an urban legend that blue smarties were banned because they'd make kids go hyper but in reality they just changed to having no artificial colors and couldn't find a replacement for blue at the time. This game tied in with the advertising campaign about them bringing the color back.

My family used to own a caravan that we'd take on holidays, and we'd always play the PS2 that we kept in it when we weren't doing anything else. We don't have the caravan or the PS2 anymore... but this video brought back memories. Our favourite game was "Bomberman Hardball." Essentially it's a sports game collection with a bomberman mode as well, but we'd get so competitive over it. Especially the golf, for whatever reason. We also played a lot of Crash Twinsanity, and since I was just a kid it was the funniest game I'd ever played. It's also a pretty solid platformer, so I can see why we liked it. I'm pretty sure we had this game too, but apart from the cover art I didn't remember anything from this video, so that's probably a good thing.

Actually, I just thought about something. Maybe the games aren't trying to get you hungry for their product, but to associate with their brand more? Think about it. You play this game called Sneak King, and you end up liking it. You see a Burger King as you're being driven down the street by your parents, and you want to eat there by association. It's not out of hunger, just your appreciation for the brand makes you think "I should eat there sometime".
Does it work under this idea? Iunno, probably not considering they don't make so many of these kinds of games these days.

I like how they put the lives and stuff on displays that look like the characters arm. Nice touch

I'm from The Netherlands, I played this when I was a kid and could never beat it. I always have those moments where suddenly I think of this game again.

I remember booting this game up and just running around the first level not knowing where to go so I just played mercenaries instead.

0:00 I just wanted to mention this cause I forgot it's name-
Yeah! There was this N64 racing game with these geometric bikes that was really similar to F-Zero, but really different, and I can't remember what it was called, and I really want to play it again. So many fond memories of younger me just playing the same stages over and over- I loved it.

Could it be Extreme G? That's the only N64 bike racing game that comes to mind.

Something Funny not long, I found out about the lego racers games. And I have memories of the music of the first one, but I can’t remember owning the game.

I had a game on my PC called Magician's Lair, and it's so roughly made that it's unsettling to look at, even now.

Anybody remember the Red Screen of Death? It scared the shit out of me when I inserted an NTSC PS2 game (Power Rangers Dino Thunder) in my PAL PS2 Console. It doesn’t help the fact now that all of my 2 copies of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex don’t work anymore and will trigger the infamous error screen if you click on the PS2 Disc icon, wait for black screen, only to take you back to the menu screen with the words “Reading Disc” for a few seconds with no disc spinning noise from the console itself.

I LEGIT HAD THIS GAME AS A KID AND COMPLETELY FORGOT IT EXISTED UNTIL RIGHT THIS SECOND.
It was so bad, oh my god.

I genuinely thought that I had dreamt up this game considering the fact that it was so bizarre. I mean I genuinely didn't mind this but I got stuck on a level and gave up. It was so fever dreamish that I felt as if I was stupid for remembering it. Thank God I wasn't the only one who remembers this.

It's funny; I always remembered playing through Smarties Meltdown like I would DOOM. A terrible, less polished version, but you can see where the inspiration came from. The final boss is one of *the worst* and the ending is just laughable BUT
you gotta commend the devs for deciding to stick around and make a game like this; You wouldn't see something like that happening in the modern day especially for children, as the target market is now usually for more mature audiences.
Interestingly enough, the developers that made this game were also responsible somehow for Broken Sword 5, so It's good to know a company panned for releasing a terrible video-game decided to redeem themselves.

How dare you talk trash about Dave Benson Phillips, our screaming gunge-obsessed overlord. Seriously, Get Your Own Back (a game show aimed at older kids he presented) is regarded as iconic.
