Please do not this comment the wrong way BUT...
What you stated about leaving Ecuador and returning to get another 90 visa free days is simply not true.
Tourist from almost all countries are given 90 free days when they arrive in Ecuador as a tourist. This 90 day period is good for one calendar year however if you leave Ecuador during that 90 day period the count down pauses until you return. Any partial day in the country will be counted. Tourist are illegible for another free days each year. The year is count from the date you entered Ecuador the first time you visited.
Tourist can get a 90 day extension to stay more than 90 days in a calendar year. Currently, as a I type this (August 7th, 2024) the extension should be applied for during the last 10 days of your free period. If you wait until day 91 you will be fined for overstaying your visa. I believe the fee for the extension is $150 (but don't hold me to that). I do not know how much the fine is.
The countdown on the 90 day extension in the opposite of the initial 90 days. It has a start and end date - and leaving the country will not pause the countdown.
It is also important to note that immigration and visa laws change frequently here with little rhythm or reason. Travelers would be well advised to see what is currently true when booking their flight. I'd also suggest asking when you should apply for an extension to the Customs agent when you are first everting the country.
