The pool story, asking to be paid for REAL damages IS going lightly. If you spread the cost among all the people there, it SHOULDN'T be too bad, unless they were chugging a case of fancy champagne to chase the 4 pounds of caviar. A few hundred dollars 40 ways isn't horrible, but they SHOULD feel some inconvenience as a result of their actions.

I agrees $1000/40 =$25 even if it was on the higher of say $2000 that would be $50 I’d say that that price is easily worth it to avoid a criminal charge on your record. As for just eating the cost, hell no, those kids need to learn that their actions have consequences letting off will just set the standard that your ok with them stealing from you and damaging your property.

    Story 1:
OP saying to the customer “that’s not my problem,” is completely acceptable. The customer was being rude and treating OP badly. I’m getting really sick of these people who think that because you are a cashier or waitstaff that you automatically have to take whatever crap the customer throws at them. At my establishment you get treated how you treat them, period. If you want to be shown respect, then you have to give it. That’s how polite society is supposed to work. Karens get shown the door or police.(if necessary)

I agree with you. I am in the US and I think treating the people who work for you badly is abhorrent. My employees know that I have their backs. I have never thought that the amount of money you have should determine how you are treated. Whether you are a homeless person or a billionaire, you get the same treatment in my establishments. I even had to get rid of a vendor because of how they treated my staff. And another thing I believe in is paying your staff a “living wage.”

@@deborahdicesare9042 sounds fair xD A lot of stuff I hear or read from the US is just, at least from an outside perspective, just not correct. Just the stories about the customer is always right, customers verbally (and even physically) abuse employees is just an absolut no go. What I observed personally, what is expected as good customer service in the US would be considered fake (or even kind a ass liking) in my country. Every human beeing has to be treated with respect (if shown) or at the bare minimum correct. Not more, not less.

Those parents are just going to have to be parents and actually teach their children that when they make a mistake they have to pay for it. Even when you're poor you have to learn the harshness of your recklessness has consequences. Tell your husband to shove it, don't give everybody a pass or they'll just be walking all over people for the rest of their lives.
Also this will be a reminder to those kids that if they decide to do anything else that they're going to end up without food that month.

Poor or not, it does not matter. They broke in, damaged property and consumed food that wasn't theirs. If any of them would had been injured, it would had fallen on OP, even though they broke in. Turn about is fair play as well, just tell those upset parents how they would feel if 40 people broke into their house, ate all their food, trashed the place, then used the "I'm poor" excuse to avoid all consequence.

The story about the pool, those kids got off lightly. If he had pressed charges they would have all had police records, may have had to do community service or jail time--plus they still would have had to pay damages. So he was definitely giving them a break, but leaving it up to the parents to determine how to make the kids reimburse them for the money they had to pay. Maybe the parents had good sense to make the kids pay them back for what they forked out--but that was there decision to make.

Not Only would I have pressed Charges (Break & Enter, Felony Trespass, Theft & Vandalism), I'd also have Sued their Asses off in Court for the cost of the food they stole, cleaning the yard/pool deck and draining, cleaning, sanitizing and refilling the pool plus my Legal Costs of course...
When they started whining about being too poor to afford that money, my response would be "If you can't afford to pay for your Party in MY HOME, why did you break in and have it?"

I’m epileptic (aka seizures), take 3 types of medications for it, and have been taking _one_ of them since I was 14.
For some reason, my doctor wouldn’t renew one of my prescriptions, and it was taking me forever to get an appointment with him! 😒
Since I knew everyone in the pharmacy so well, they knew me by name and what pills I had been taking for ever! And since they knew the situation, they’d give me all the other medications every time I came in, *and* they’d give me sample packets of the pills I needed until I could get my prescription renewed 😁❤️

My wife knows she has a pitbull as a husband….and she knows I don’t have the patience for entitled bs.

Pool party story: OP, I have to agree with you. Being poor is rarely a good excuse. And allowing them to "get away with it" will only encourage them to do similar stunts again. Eventually actually causing real harm. And why do I get the feeling that the 39 year old is the one that scoped the place out and arranged the party. Having the food available was just a bonus. A reason why I would want an indoor pool, harder to break into.

When i was a kid we would sneak into apartment complex pools sure, but never someones private pool because we wouldnt want someone doing that to OUR stuff, and even at the apartments we never left a mess or broke anything. I'm diabetic and for a while I was insulin dependent. I know that this doesn't make up for the pharmacy not supplying the injector pen (more on that after this). For a while when I was on insulin I had to inject myself several times daily, I learned that I could inject myself painlessly with a syringe if I prepped a larger area of my stomach than needed and touching the tip of the needle to different places on the prepped area until there was a touch that I didn't feel at all, I would push the needle in there painlessly.
As for the pharmacy not supplying the injector pen, it could be that they didn't have one in stock at the time. OP should have asked them how long it would to get the pen in. BTW, I'm currently on a once a week injectable from a pen so I do have a clue about how pharmacies deal with such things.

We did estate sales. No matter what price was on an item, customers would ask for a discount. If the item was $20, they’d want it for $9. After a lot of back and forth, you’d finally say they could have it for $9. They would then pay with a $50 or $100 bill which they pulled off a huge stack of $50 and $100 dollar bills. They weren’t in need, they just had a self-imposed rule to not pay the listed price on anything.

My pharmacy closed after 35 years of going there I went to another large chain and had all of my prescriptions transferred there I needed one for a painkiller which I take constantly the pharmacist said we don't carry that why we don't like keeping that medication show after arguing with her that it's a legal prescription I've been taking it for years on a need basis I do not want to become addicted to this she said she still wouldn't get it and I could go someplace else and get that and I said to her well if I can go someplace to get that then I can go someplace to get the other seven medications I take every month and transferred everything that day to another pharmacy

1-No store camera's? Some bad pseudo Christian crap going on. 2-Yeah, no. You would need a new needle and syringe for every injection. Report the pharmacist. She didn't follow the Dr's script which is against the law unless she called the Dr for a change. Last story. Husband is the ahole. Everyone needs to be responsible for their actions. Breaking and entering someones house is an absolute FU, you're going to jail. If they broke in there is damage to the door or window and someone should pay to fix it.

STORY #1 if you are going to go into a store that is basically a discount store for clothes or anything you may find in that store and you ask for a discount maybe you should have kept your broke ass at home and NOT went shopping if don't have the money I mean come on people the f_ _king dress was $8 f_ _king dollars/ LAST STORY sounds to me like the husband of OP is a dick if the parents didn't want to have to worry about paying for certain shit because they were poor maybe their children should have been raised better to know that what they were doing was against the law and wrong but they broke onto OP's property and into the house used things that OP had bought with their money and spent their time going to get those things so hell yeah the parents should pay for every damn thing their children messed up regardless of whether or NOT it is NOT going to hurt OP's pocket book

I don’t care how poor you are, you do NOT have the right to spend someone else’s hard earned money by using their pool and food and creating a mess that has to be cleaned up. Go get a job to pay for what you want.

Story 1 Everything they sell at a "Charity" shop was donated, which means no matter what the customer pays for it, it is always 100% profit. They are given free rent or at a severely reduced rate and as he said in the story, they also save on not having to pay most if not all who "Work" there
