This DJ is the BEST. She is so attentive and caring about the music and towards the musicians. Several KEXP videos now I am impressed with how much she cares. It’s beautiful. THANK YOU. It is so appreciated. 🙏🏽💖
The music coming out of this man’s head sounds like how Iceland looks on photos and videos. Majestic and powerful, yet peaceful and still. A true son of his nation. Bravo. 🇮🇸💙
Olafur Arnalds music makes feel so grateful to be alive in this time and helps me on my path to seeing as clearly as possible. Thank you Olafur and KEXP.
Olafurs' music is like a balm for the soul in this time of so much turmoil. His music of 'songs without words' just makes me feel so much better every time I listen!! Wish he would come to New Zealand.
“Some Kind Of Peace” perfectly described as a wonderful gift at the end of what was a difficult year for so many - especially those with mental health issues - thank you Oli for this gift and bringing your beautiful music to the universe 🙏🏻🌈 🎵 ✨
Superb performance by Olafur and his fellow musicians. Also, a video of the KEXP sound engineers talking about their recording approach would be awesome, the work they're doing is outstanding.
The day I heard your music Ólafur, it was a total connection, with your soft notes you restore my energy and fill me with peace. Thank you so much for sharing it...
It's interesting...in a good way, as to how many people need this kind of quiet, yet raw and peaceful honesty from Olafur's music in their lives. There's something very real and honest about what's in this guy's soul, and the magic involved with turning it into a piece of music that can bring people to tears. Fantastic...
I listen Olafur Arnalds since album Eulogy for Evolution (probably it was 2008). It is a joy to observe his music evolution and listen to his beautiful art pieces. Great performance.
When Cheryl asked to know more about how the album helped him open himself up to the possibility of love and settling down as someone who’s « known him for a while and is very fond of him » 😂 we see you Cheryl ;)
It’s lovely to hear such beautiful music, especially at a time when we are experiencing so much chaos, conflict, and crisis across the world. Music and radio stations like KEXP spread happiness, peace and harmony ~ long may that continue! 🎶📻📡🎹🎧🕊🌍
Thankyou for the beautiful work that flows through you Olafur. I am very grateful. I work as a film maker and choreographer , your music and inspiration plays a very big part in my preperation and process for my work. I feel connected to a magnificent God and incredible universe when I listen to you. Forever grateful. Forever listening. Forever Belonging. Tina in Ireland ❤🙏
I’m so stupid for not having seen this sooner. I fall asleep to his music, I have for almost a decade. It’s often gets me so worked up I just lay there and sob in the dark.
Wow! The passion and wonderful texture of every note... It's as though stillness and peace have conspired to finally be heard in a world of seeming chaos... BRAVO!
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe what the first song did to me, without being accused of being emotionally unstable. That was utterly brilliant and beautiful. One of the most moving songs I have ever heard.
Olafur and his music are mesmerizing... what he says about concepts as a way of protecting artists themselves (strating at minute 14:45) is such an important truth that trascends music.
always good to see/hear music from olafur arnalds he creates such wonderful and beautiful music if you have time listen to his songs woven song and particles those are amazing
I like the thumping of the piano keys. I can see why you'd usually record a piano so you don't hear that, but it works really well here. This is music that wants to sound natural.
I just watched pope Francis beg for forgiveness at the meeting in Canada with the First Nations and the Inuit. So much sorrow. Now I watch this and listen. I need this beauty to restore a bit of peace in myself. Love to you all.
Never had the chance to listen to his music and now that I do, I notice its highly derivative, his first theme is straight out of Max Richter, I think one of his lullabies or maybe his theme for the Inbetweeners. the second theme is very VERY reminiscent of The Fountain soundtrack in 7:28 and 7:55 that jump he does over his hand plays the same notes as you could for First Snow on piano, I know this because I learned that piece, he lifted and just skipped a few notes. You can also listen to the start of Death Is The Road to Awe its very similar. the similarities stop right after tho.
The first piece reminds me so much of Philip Glass's Truman Sleeps (ruclips.net/video/FySi6xXkNqo/видео.html) that I spent the whole song waiting for the high pitched right hand melody to come in.

Have you heard Hania Rani "glass" ?
@@fabricegrard1001 Yes I have. I love Hania Rani's music as well. Olafur is few steps deeper into the soul for me though.

One of the amazing things about this guy is that he was a death metal drummer and he is 1/2 of fantastic duo of electronic music called Kiasmos.
Wow I had no idea he was half of Kiasmos that's awesome
I discovered Olafur through his 2012 KEXP Iceland Airwaves set 🙏
Merci pour la musique, sublime, puissante, entraînante, et une vraie source d'inspiration.....

Olafur is a gem, I'm already looking forward to enjoying his new music in winter, it always spends so much comfort!
Not once have I felt raging fury towards youtube ads until they interrupted the string part in the first piece.
This is how you have to do, it always works and the ads disappear.

Saw him live four years ago. Absolutely amazing! Got goosebumps and a little tear in my eye because of this performance.

Olafur, his music and musicians around him are so special.

It’s a beautiful percussive effect. Having the action exposed allows them to mic up the action+strings all together.
Olafur is a beautiful person!
Olafur, you just got yourself new fan! Thank you KEXP, again
Thank you, KEXP! Thank you, Mr. Arnalds! Another gem of a video!

Wonderful version of Saman.
Not really enjoyed Olafur's few albums or two much I must admit, but this is a wonderful session. Time for a relisten i think.

If you listen to olafur Arnold's only for two weeks, you wont able to listen to any rap or r&b or whatever music like these
Wow!!!! This messed me up!!
What is the subtle shuffling sound?
Hello KEXP. Do you think you can place the ads at better points. Maybe only at beginning and end
Sooo many ads.
which album are they talking about?! I want to look it up!
Hey guys can someone tell me who the artist is she mentions before bonobo ? She says they’ve had a few of her bands on over the years. Thanks !
gotta bring Sandriyati Fay I think :D
real hiphop!
Setlist?
Sounds like compositions or variations of Michael Nyman and/or Yann Tiersen.

I would say that there is more to him than this vid would suggest...may I suggest listening to Woven Song or Ekki huggsa ( I think it is called)
The first piece reminds me so much of Philip Glass's Truman Sleeps (ruclips.net/video/FySi6xXkNqo/видео.html) that I spent the whole song waiting for the high pitched right hand melody to come in.
Not bad for a guy that trained as a drummer!😬
OMG I dont understand one single name from de musicians 😅
