Nice reaction. I like that you mentioned the originality of AG's dancing. That's what first drew me to AG. This reminds me of early AG with the funky jazz and the industrial settings. "Suki Lie" is another double pun and can be taken as "Love Lie" or as "Love Hate" as they actually sing at the start. The song is about the pain of romantic betrayal, but feels darker than when they sung about that by a friend as teenagers. The dance is disturbing, are they miming a hug or being strangled followed by pushing something away? and the jazz breakdown is great. The lyrics are brutal. There's a mention of Japanese horror in the lyrics and I think the floating heads are a nod (Ha, Ha) to "Junji Ito Maniac" and various bits of folklore. This is the slightly dark AG I love... @@xiaouiris Yes, both AG and BM are theatrical which is why I like them both. Right now I think that AG are by far the most imaginative and interesting, but BM has the advantage of the songs lending themselves to epic and atmospheric stage productions. AG are doing things with visuals and stage sets and I wonder if Suzuka has any input as she is also active in visual arts. AG will be doing their first really big arena concert this October. I'll be interested to see your take on those two other songs.
Also the Dance Practice video for 'Giri Giri' is out now and as always, the Leaders are in top form with their choreography while also rocking their new merch. Track suits were all the rage in the early days of Hip Hop, but these girls make them look better then ever!
Hi Xi, I decided not to hijack a non-AG video for this request, so here it is, in case it's not already on your list. Would love your review/analysis of the Atarashii Gakko "Giri Giri" dance practice video. This seems like their tightest routine yet, and maybe my favorite, but since I know nothing about dance technique (other than the tidbits I hear you talk about), can't wait to hear your opinion. I think the lyrics are about some serious youth/student angst, just to get you in the mood! And self-choreographed, of course. Thanks!
Suzuka definitely has a very prominent voice. I was at one of their shows in the states recently and I'm not sure if they heightened the volume in Suzuka's mic or not but she sounded 10 times louder than the other three girls. Even outside of their singing her voice is quite fierce compared to the others.
All 4 are pro dancers in their own right, but Kannon in particular does a lot of pro-choreography for other artists. She's done the choreography for many asian pop idols female and male. But all 4 have helped other groups with choreography.
Great reaction as always! What I love about these ladies is that NO ONE looks like them. The way they move seems straight up unnatural at times.
