That or buy your wife what makes her happy or even keep it. Investment is a risk so he won't do that and unless ye likes his toy trains, he's likely to spend it on something more life evolving such as a car. It was just an educated guess.

This woman had brought in a piece of Colonial American furniture and the appraiser asked if this was the condition of the piece when they purchased it. The woman stated that her husband had refinished it a few years prior. The appraiser informed the woman, the piece, theoretically, could've been owned by one of the Founding Fathers, and was worth $17,000 USD, but had her husband not refinished it, it would have been worth $200,000 - $300,000 USD. Needless to say, she was quite disappointed with the husband.
The presenter just stayed painfully silent instead of continuing to explain, extol etc.. The owner was gobsmacked, so the awkwardness was certainly not his fault..
