    Congrats. When I lived in NH I did the same. Installed a 30’ round above ground. Because of the way the land sloped some was in-ground. This was 15yrs ago. I knew I nothing about building pools or excavating but I rented a bobcat and went to work. It was fun and hard work. Then I built a 20’ wrap around deck leading to the pool. From the deck it appeared to be in ground. We had up to 20 people having fun at once. Took about a month working alone but I did it. I don’t live there but the memories and pictures speak a thousand words. Congrats on your pool and project. Believe me, when you look back a few years from today I’ll bring tears of joy.

    Tell them youngins that if they can make it from one side of that shallow pool to the other without touching the bottom, doesn't matter how or what technique, they know how to swim. Everyone actually knows how to swim, they just lack the confidence not to panic. This exercise just shows them they know how.

    Nice video, well done. All of these videos like yours are very helpful so thank you for posting. We have had one of these in our garage for about 1 year now running into obstacles installing it, so it's still on pallets. Everyone we ask about these pools and installation has a completely different "opinion" about how they should be installed, and none of their answers match videos like yours of people actually installing their own. Very frustrating, so in the end we may just end up doing ours ourselves as well. We are in Northern KY. Wish us luck!

    I have the exact same pool from the Pool Factory, only bigger. Ours is 21 x 43. Ours is sunk evenly at 27" all the way around. Just curious if you've had any issues with the walls yet being the pool is sunken to different depths? Too much pressure from the ground at one end, and too much pressure from water at the other?

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Dave! We have had no problems at all. As long as you don't bury your pool above the recommended level there will be no pressure from the ground, and as long as your pool is level there will be no pressure from the water. It's all about proper installation.

    If we want to start building out own pool like y'all, and we have no clue about anything, what would we need to order for the pool itself?

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  Год назад +3

      If you go to The Pool Factory website, they have everything laid out for you when you start your order. You order the type of pool, size, liner, padding, pump, chemicals, ladder, everything. So start there! We ordered a thick liner which was an upgrade and extra padding for under the liner. Then for the pump we ordered a Pool Frog which is a mineral filtration system. The mineral pack and chlorine comes with it. It is the best and keeps our pool crystal clear. The Pool Factory will send you instructions with everything you order and they also have RUclips videos you can watch. Then you will need to go to a hardware store for shovels, levels, bricks and things to put the pool together with. You will also have to buy sand, gravel, and tubing for your drainage system. Watch all of the videos and read all of the instructions. Take it step by step,take your time, and be patient. Don't let it overwhelm you. It's hard work but it's worth it!

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  10 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure either. We just followed the directions that said not to bury the pool past a certain depth. 😊 We had to put ours partially in the ground because of the hill in our backyard. We didn't want to level the entire yard, so the semi in ground worked best for us.

      The land around the pool can collapse when empty. To do it safely you should create a concrete wall structure to prevent that from happening, then you can safely install the pool as low as the pool can be

    What did you use for drainage around the pool? We are planning on doing this here soon With a 15’ x 24’. Also how thick was the sand on the bottom?

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  Год назад +3

      Hi Chris, we used a 4" corrugated field tile for the drainage around the pool and then we used around 3 to 4 inches of sand on the bottom of the pool, covered with a black padding to keep grass from growing up through the sand and damaging the liner.
      Best wishes on your pool installation!

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  Год назад

      Hi Joseph, yes we did ground it by attaching copper wire to concrete slabs around the outer perimeter of the pool and then running it up to the inside of the skimmer.

    • @sue1263
      @sue1263 Год назад +1

      @@caudillcottage so you did not drill into the pool supports for bonding? Did it pass code in your county or did you not have to pull a permit? Asking because my pool is sitting here waiting for installation, but here in my county in Fl electricians or the home owner bond not the installers.

    • @caudillcottage

      @Sue ......No, we did not drill into our pool supports. In all of the instructions and tutorials we watched on bonding, the pool supports were never drilled into. We live in the country where no permits were required and we were allowed to do everything ourselves.

    Hey, thank you for sharing this! great job! I'd love to know if your walls sway / move at all when the pool is in use. Does your pool have the rolled up aluminum/metal walls or are they individual slat walls? Thanks

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  День назад +1

      Hi there! Thank you so much! No, our walls do not move or budge at all when we are in it. If your walls are bulging or moving at all, then there may be some foundational issues. We have a solid metal wall that came rolled up in one piece and it is very sturdy. It was the hardest part of the pool to put up because it was so heavy.

    • @caudillcottage
      @caudillcottage  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, we made drainage for rain water around the pool so that water could drain off of the hill and not set in the ground, since our pool is partially in ground. We dug out two feet all around the outside of the pool and laid drainage tiles in the ground and covered them with small gravel. It's not to drain water out of the pool. We use a hose to drain our pool half way before we close it in the fall. I hope this makes sense. ☺️

    Using the mini-tractor made the initial excavation easy, but it compacted the soil making it difficult to level. Should have dug to about 6" above the intended depth, and the rest by hand. And you didn't need to pay for drinking water quality. $300 better spent elsewhere.

      We are perfectly happy with our work and the way we decided to go about this project. The ground needed to be compacted as we went along to better secure the foundation of the pool. A tractor or skid loader was the perfect tool to accomplish this. And having clean water delivered was worth every penny, as we have well water at our home which is not suggested for filling pools. We did a lot of research before this build and would not have done anything any different.

    • @hammerandnails73
      @hammerandnails73 4 дня назад +1

      6 inches of dirt on that size hole would be 10 cu ic yards of dirt. It's definitely way easier to scrape off an inch of compacted dirt here and there there than hand dig 10 cubic yards of compacted dirt and then haul it out with a wheel barrow.
