reality tv show BGT is exposed as fake -again

  • but the stories about BGT manipulation go back at least to series 2 and the appalling treatment of the Deans of Magic as also the horror story of Sharon Osbourne's takedown of Steve Brockstein. Nobody should be exposed to such nastiness on live tv but we call this "entertainment" and assume (wrongly) that the participants volunteered- most of the time, they were headhunted... just doing a job and humiliated by a bunch of nasties with power.

    Watching your video you has sent sharp needle points down my spine. You have eerily described the situation of someone I know, even one of your small details, and it left me cold. The way this individual was treated their after raising hopes and dreams I thought was cruel. They lost money before attending auditions by needing to change other appointments. Because members of my family are in this business, luckily with some success, I am aware of the darker side.

    To me, the show has always had obvious hallmarks of Fakery. It is totally manipulative and designed to whip everyone up into emotional hysteria. The performers are basically just treated like Fodder by the ‘Judges’- who themselves certainly have neither the credentials, talent, or right to destroy careers the way they plainly enjoy doing! They are Narcissists who don’t care that they are dealing with real people who have feelings. They know exactly who they want to Win long before the Final and after the Final also to lose interest in their winner. Leona Lewis for example was the natural successor to Whitney Houston but obviously never received the career guidance that should have had to ensure her place in the Big League.

  • @JoButterwick
    @JoButterwick 12 дней назад +1

    Yes, it’s fake and cruel. BGT control everything. They set acts up to fail - a slippery floor for a gymnastic act for example. At the end of the performance Simon Cowell says something nasty to elicit a shocked expression on the actors faces. It is then spliced on to the recording at the point where the act has been told that they have failed so it looks as if they didn’t even realise how bad they were. The humiliation is hard to live with.

    4:45 I dare say you watch these things at your own expense too. It reinforces a pattern of taking joy in other's faliures and I think that rather sad. I'd much rather feel compassion than entertainment at the site of someone struggling/failing and watching this kind of TV seems to encourage feeling the latter.

    Years and years ago there was a tv programme where people were put together (I think on a remote Scottish Island) and had to live as a group. Challenges were set to determine a winner at the end. In interviews after the programme ended, all the other contestants said the winner was favoured from day one and everything had been geared towards him. The winner was Ben Fogle. Then there was a tv programme series to discover a comedian, where the winner got to appear on the Royal Variety. Again the contestants who did not win all said in interviews after, that from day one the whole show had been set out to favour one comedian. That comedian (I do not recall her name) was all over tv and still is as I understand it. As with others who have commented……..I to have not watched TV since the hoax and never intend to ever watch the rubbish ever again.

    Apropos nothing, really, but I saw that thumbnail and thought, “Quentin Tarantino’s really let himself go,” before rubbing my eyes and getting a second take. To your point, there needs to be some better, more public accountability. We have seen that our regulators are uninterested and toothless at best, in cahoots and a client of the government at worst. Sitting MP’s presenting, “news,” and current affairs shows is illegal, yet happening in Britain.
    And talent shows may seem like harmless fun and less important than direct government corruption, but they’re really not. The fact is that producers are like rising water levels, constantly rising to increasingly threatening levels unless people keep bailing to stop us all from drowning in exploitation, cruelty and ultimately, tragedy.
    The producers of these shows should be monitored by unbiased OFFCOM officials with the power to shut down a production on the spot and refer crimes where they are found. They will find that producers are always breaking the law, blackmailing, victimising, bullying, manipulating and pulling strings that no decent person would touch in, “real,” life.
    I rarely, if ever watch, “reality TV.” I prefer the good, honest truth that makes good fiction so compelling.

I started watching the Repair Shop when it began, thought it was 'different' but after a few weeks it was obvious it was scripted, and the wait, wait, wait, for the tears to come......good grief, it's an absolute disgrace to do that. How the participants can go along with it astounds me. As for that Osbourne woman, that scene you showed was disgusting and the programme should end.

    Nearly correct! Occasionally, talent is unearthed and, so rumour has it, that new talent needs to immediately sign up with a certain organisation to make any further progress.
    Apparently realistic shows like Masterchef are "arranged" and sometimes you can tell that the comments made by the judges before we know the results have actually been uttered after the results were known. That is they used hindsight but potrayed it as foresight.
    But, could it be that all TV is fake? We know about talent shows but what about quiz shows? Are all the questions genuine? Have any of the answers been scripted? The "comedy" ones certainly are. Have you ever noticed how many "program associates" the quiz show Have I Got News For You has in its list of credits? Those people are script writers!
    Even more highbrow quizzes like Mastermind have quirks. Issues that arise during the course of the questions are edited out by the contestant having to repeat the filming of that complete section again. I have not watched it since the Magnus Magnussen days but every participant would be asked a question about their local area in the general knowledge section, for instance, so the questions asked are not random. I wonder how much else is pre-arranged.
    The shows where two opposing sides are lined up for an in studio battle are done for entertainment. They want the parties to react badly. This continues into programs like Question Time. Facts and impartiality are not important but the spectacle is.
    It does make one wonder how accurate even the News is or whether that is just a different form of entertainment designed to elicit certain responses or convey certain propaganda.
