I saw this at the Tattoo in the early 70s... they actually brought out a side of beef for the soldiers to cut with their bayonets to allay rumours that they were blunt/not real!! Awesome
I tried out for the USAF Honor Guard in 1975. It was tough, your poo couldn't stink and they had no room for mistakes. make too many and out you went. I almost made it, but, family issues took me away from the finals and even though they invited me back I just didn't have the opportunity to try again. Would have been a hoot I'm sure.
I was in the Air Force for more than 20 years, all on active duty. I went to the SRNCO Academy, as a MSgt, and was asked to lead the Honor Guard, for the monthly parade all Air Training Command bases had. Quite a cool thing do do, and yes, I tried out for it. Service dress on a damned hot August day in the deep south.

Foreign Military bands and marching displays consider it an honour to be invited to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

They're not British...it's HONOR GUARD.
When in Rome....
You don't want to be unlucky enough to drop your rifle!
Needs more practice
why dont they fly their planes
Your kidding me, oh "brilliant" one.
Because most Air Force jobs don’t involve actually flying planes.
Very, very impressive. If their pilots were as good, there would be no need for 'collateral damage' or 'friendly fire' incidents.
Ummm...every military, anywhere, have their friendly fire incidents in combat
You think these fellas haven't accidentally cut their hands and legs whilst practicing this stuff?
Boring
Gay 😂
