When seeds unfold into plants, we call the plants seedlings. Seedlings have seed leaves. Seed leaves do not look like the leaves on a big tree. After the plant uses all the food in the seed leaves, the seed leaves fall off. Trees make many seeds but only a few live to be seedlings. Birds eat many tree seeds.
