Any advice for someone getting out of the military wanting to be a lineman?
Sounds exactly what I did. I work for entergy its the big company around here. But there are other utility companies that do contract work for entergy. It’s like that everywhere. It’s hard to get on at the big one; so what I did was go to the contractors and got hired. It’s much easier. Did that for about 5.5 years all the while applying for all the lineman jobs that came open at Entergy and working around and getting to know the guys over there. I had 4 interviews and finally got one do the jobs. Long story short. Go work for a contractor get some experience then apply to wherever you want. But no a days there’s really no incentive to work for the big companies. They did away with pensions at ENTERGY so really it’s better to contract. No near as much BS and usually you can work 4-10’s. I got grandfathered in with my pension luckily. They did away with it 3 years after I hired here. But should be pretty easy to get a job at an electric contractor company. Then just work your way up. That’s what I did. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

@@COLTSWAY well I did it. I pulled the trigger on a local pre apprenticeship program at a local Community college while I finish my terminal leave. It’s sponsored by Duke energy so hopefully I can get on with them or one of the local co-op’s when it’s all said and done. Got my CDL permit and all last week ready to rock and roll. Maybe some day I’ll catch you on a storm somewhere!

I grow it ole son…😂. Man honesty I just don’t really put alot in it. Some oil sometimes but I constantly brush it; like a habit. But I switched to a pick and it’s made a world of difference. I know it’s weird to have a pick but I don’t use anything but a pick now and it’s a game changer. It’s gets down there where a brush or comb can’t. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
