How I Beat Halo (the Level) on Legendary in 11 Minutes

- Hello froggy frens, today I have a Halo CE speedrun that I'm super excited about because it's completely different than the last two. Silent Cartographer and 343 Guilty Spark are really short and trick heavy, whereas this level is long and full of actual combat.

This actually wasn't my best time. I had a run that was 8 seconds faster and, by HaloRuns.com timing rules, a 10:59 meaning I was able to break the 11 minute mark. I thought this run was cleaner and better to show for this video. In any case, I still have a lot of room for improvement and will definitely want to shave this down further in the future.

@@redx4013 his username got him banned by microsoft (not 343) and since he had already been losing interest in halo, he decided that he was done. He also got some sort of disease that makes his voice hurt if he talks much.

It’s hard to believe I did all of the LASO runs and Legendary 3 hour runs in 2014 - 2015 without using a ton of speed run tactics.
I know so many things about how to run these games faster and faster. But I’m always learning new things
Hey, the GREATEST level in all of Halo Combat Evolved Speedrunning!!
One thing to note about the aggro points on the first 5 marines we kill, nades will still give 1 point of aggro if you're not in combat. The marines are still in combat for about 6 seconds after the last enemy in the first encounter dies, which is why you were able to shoot the crewman while the other crewman was alive to see it.
If you're slow on the nade kill on Johnson and his friend, you'd actually have gotten to 8/5 points of aggro there.
2 points from the nade, 3 from shooting crewman, and 3 from the other crewman, because once you have aggro, any kill will give 3 points.
Also, the rubble guys are noticed, they are just in combat, so you get 3 points for all 3. Having 2 points leaving cliff will guarantee getting aggro at rubble.
My goal for this video was a time in the 10:40s but after a couple hours of running this level I was fine with settling for a time just over 11 lol
Yeah, the biggest killer of runs for me was getting angry marines during the rocks. One of you who knows what you're talking about should make a video on marine aggression

Using this I got a 15 minute time after a couple attempts at the first combat encounter, after a bit more practice at killing the enemies at the beginning I can get a pretty good time

I normally do the first grenade jump directly into the face of the rock, while you do yours to the side. Do you do this on purpose / have a better success rate?
I originally tried learning it that way, but I had a way easier time with doing it from the side and running into it
This level is my least favorite in the entire Halo franchise. I'd play through The Library a dozen times instead of playing Halo once, if those were the two options on the table.
I imagine it'll be a lot simpler and faster with Acrophobia. Hope they add that to MCC soon.
