Exactly, in the Martial Arts World, opponents are taught respect, but know this, honor and respect, are not given, they are earned. Well done gentleman, and actors.
He was average during season 1 but he trained hard and became better and better. A shame he never had opponents on his level during the show. Donnie Yen should have been the main villain of the movie. His skills are unique!
Donnie Yen was also terrific as the blind fighter Chirrut Imwe in "Star Wars: Rogue One" (a terrific movie). It was Yen's idea to have Chirrut be blind, and I'm glad the makers used his idea.
That fight could've lasted for another 20 minutes and it would've been even better! Donnie Yen is a master martial artist and arguably the best fight choreographer of all time. He's definitely the GOAT IMO.
I was also impressed the fight wasn't sped up in post-production, that is the speed they actually fought. Adrian only did like 200 or so swordfights just in the series itself.
Adrian Paul has black sashes in Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu and Hung Gar. He has also studied Tae Kwon Do. In fact, I think it was both his dance and Martial Arts background that helped him land the role of Duncan in the first place.
+Daniel Haire That may be but they still wasted Donnie by having his charcter do little to nothing I wish that he did not sign up for roles like these it is the same shit shit in Blade 2 Snowman kick one set of Reaper ass and get killed off screen in the sewers. by Lighthammer
In terms of swordsmanship. Duncan is the better swordsman, as he has more skills and knowledge of the martial arts than Connor. While Connor is the stronger and more experienced swordsman as he has lived longer than Duncan.
@@jakelam5089 Doubtful, Connor has more experience, having been trained by Ramirez. Also Connor beheaded Kurgan, who was said to be the strongest of the immortals (meaning all of Kurgan's strength was added to Connor's). But what do I know, this series retcons itself after every movie. If only they kept the plot similar to the first movie without bringing aliens into it, cause that just made the plot a huge mess.
@@deathbykonami5487 Duncan is stronger but he beheaded the first immortal due to Connor giving him his quickening, he fought the devil, came up with his own martial art, trained in multiple martial arts, more balanced and poised.
This movie is over 20 years old. I really hope one day they can restore and re-edit the movie to its full version. Like this fight scene as a whole. In the movie the editing was just all over the place, even the fight scenes had two scenes that were the exact same. My three movies I want to see the full extended/directors cut versions are: 1. The 13th Warrior 2. Blood In Blood Out Bound By Honor 3. Highlander Endgame
Typecast problem, he should find right agent and develop his acting skills after Highlander series end, I think he could get the role in medieval theme or series like GoT.
It's by no means a perfect movie, but it's extremely underrated. Highlander is an impossible act to follow, but this really does the best job of any of the sequels. And if you compare it to say, any of the Star Wars prequels or the sequels, I'd say it measures up to its' classic forebear far better than they did.
Nice edit even with the color correction issues. There is an interview Adrian Paul did about working with Donnie Yen about the differences in on how weapons were used in the scenes.
beautiful i truly loved these movies even the series was awesome i didnt even realise that the lead singer of the WHO was in it till my mum walked past and made the comment.
+david leca They had a few singers as guests on that show actually besides Roger Daltrey. Joan Jett, Roland Gift (Fine Young Cannibals) & Sheena Easton to name some; I'm probably forgetting a few others.
Adrian Paul en el papel de Duncan Macleod es legendario...!!! Deberian traerlo de vuelta en Netflix ...!!! Como actor principal o mentor en los dos casos seria excepcional...!!!
I gotta admit, I like the edits You can see where you looped over them spinning their weapons scenes And if I remember correctly Duncan was the only one of them that actually landed a hit I think lol
Jin Ke could take them all, including Kell, in a blink of an eye...He makes everyone else look just only a thug...The only worthy opponent of Duncan who released his skills confronting him...
This really felt like a season finale to the TV Series with a higher budget. At the same time, it never felt good enough to pass off as a feature film, right down to the aesthetic and the production value. 😕
I had the same feeling from starship troopers 3. It’s like they cared enough to get some of the original actors back and to use some of the original locations, even improve the fight scenes to an extent-only to screw up massively in other areas.
Sometimes McLeod is portrayed as a great fighter and swordsman, and other times he isn't. He should have done better against Kell even without adding Connor or Kell not killing him right off
I prefer the screener version of this fight scene. Fewer cuts providing a smoother fight scene. When Jin Ke says "The honor is not in the weapon", he says that because Duncan tried to give the weapon back. That's not reflected in this cut. It's always bothered me in every cut of the film. Only the screener seems to have retained the whole fight scene.
They Couldn't Afford Donnie Yen Even then He had Made Hong Kong Productions a Fortune and he was able to Call his Ticket .... Hell Wesley Snipes Barely could afford him They Wanted Donnie Yen to Chor, Be behind the Camera, and in Front Nah Yall going to have to Pick LOl thats why he was killed off so early in Blade II
Jin ke(3) it’s pronounced ki-or, no wonder I couldn’t figure who master Yen was playing when I first watched the movie, turns out it’s a famous person in Chinese history
I was a fan of the series and was excited to hear Donnie Yen would be in the movie, but can't believe they edited this scene, the final cut sucked they should've left this in
I'm really over the trope where the opponent starts off the fight with their weapon, attacking first, then losing the weapon, tells the hero something to the effect that they shouldn't need their weapon. Just once I would like the see the hero just crack wise about it and then finish them off without falling for the BS.
I love the fact that at the end of the fight, each bow in respect for each other.
Great fight.
Exactly, in the Martial Arts World, opponents are taught respect, but know this, honor and respect, are not given, they are earned. Well done gentleman, and actors.
very cool observation. thank you and have a great day
20 years later, still a badass fight
Adrian Paul is seriously impressive with his katana. My favorite television series of all time.
I was about to say the same thing, his action chops holding ground with someone like Donnie Yen is no small feat at all
He was average during season 1 but he trained hard and became better and better. A shame he never had opponents on his level during the show.
Donnie Yen should have been the main villain of the movie. His skills are unique!
Donnie Yen elevates any fight scene he is in to another level!
Donnie Yen was also terrific as the blind fighter Chirrut Imwe in "Star Wars: Rogue One" (a terrific movie). It was Yen's idea to have Chirrut be blind, and I'm glad the makers used his idea.
Indeed, as along as he's the action director
Donnie Yen! I knew it was him!!
Your not kidding

No CGI folks, no special effects. Just real talent. Amazing.

I like him but GOAT? Nah
One of the (very) few immortal fights where it really felt it “could go either way”. Usually Duncan was miles ahead of his opponents.
If just the rest of the movie would live up to this scene...
That was best fight scene in the entire highlander universe. I love way you put it together, great job
Duncan vs Consone.
Duncan vs Haresh Clay
Both are great also, but i thinh that this is the bes. Swords and karate.
No I'd say the best was Duncan vs Grayson from the first season of the TV show.
Still say Adrian Paul would have made a great James Bond
Hell yeah and Bruce Payne would be an amazing Bond villain too.
Adrian Paul bears a really close resemblance to Sean Connery
Far better than Craig
He actually did the casting of bond but Brosnan got the part
@@EddieDutraIsBack wow i didnt know
I love the re-edit. So many story details were left on the floor. It hurt the movie.
I'm actually impressed Adrian Paul could almost keep up with Donnie Yen...
I was also impressed the fight wasn't sped up in post-production, that is the speed they actually fought. Adrian only did like 200 or so swordfights just in the series itself.
Adrian is well trained
They used a stuntman too

Adrian Paul did an amazing job carrying the torch of this franchise, I was a 90's kid, I loved the show
I never get tired of seeing the great job you did with this fight scene 👍
Awesome re-edit of the movie's best fight.

Best version of this fight scene I've seen yet
Duncan....proven to be a better swordsman than Conor in just this scene alone.
