- Today I loan my first BMW press car. I chose test the BMW X3 because the compact luxury SUV segment is one of the most popular segments in the car business today. And I also wanted to know if it's better than the Volvo XC60.

I think it’s better looking than the GLC and the competition you mentioned is as well. X3, XC60 and Q5 look great and it’s only a matter of taste who looks best. My bet is on the X3 and XC60, for me X3 M40i won in the aquisition and it’s a magnific car, especially the engine. Interior wise, all of them look great and have good quality materials, XC60 being the most different in style which shows off.
Way better looking than a audi or a xc60..bmw are all about looks and performance. I say this being a huge Volvo fan and also buying a xc60 because I think they will be more reliable in the long run but bmw are much sexier in and out. Volvos just recently became nice looking cars.
X3 is the best car in a very competitive group. GLC is the best interior, closely followed by the Q5. XC60 and GLC are the exterior. XC60 is the best seating. However, X3 is the better driving, passenger/trunk space, infosystem and safety features. The exterior seems the same as the last model and less posh interior, but everything else is top notch. The X3 has no weakness, it just does everything well and completely agree with his opinion as the top vehicle in the segment.

I'm looking forward to the driver tech safety and infotainment system evaluation in the X3. I actually drove a dealership 2019 X3 as a loaner for my wife's BMW a few weeks ago. It had to be the lowest base trim because it had almost no bells and whistles. Not even satellite radio. This one seems well optioned with many of BMW's overpriced option packages. Volvo is still the leader in standard safety tech features vs the German luxury carmakers.
I think it looks better then the Audi Q5 especially in the blue color. And for the Volvo xc60 and like them both but the x3 I like it a Lil bit because of the headlights and taillights.

I’d go with the XC60 for the refinement and reliability that Volvo offers over its rivals. BMWs drive like a dream, but they’re far from reliable.
What colour is that leather interior? so I know to never select that colour
Maybe don't drive and film at the same time? (i'm not talking about the times when you have your camera fixed)
Does this come with orange interior lighting as standard?

An SUV will never be a sport machine! Such approach is inherently wrong! The relatively high CG location and weight balance is so much limiting. But the magic word “sport” apparently does the job and several customer who have no idea about cars and technology behind but they are with thick $$$$$$ will blindly trust the dealers....
An SUV is more universal car, with some off road capabilities thanks to high ground clearance and AWD !
I respect your valued review Kris, and I can see from the video the car exudes quality, but I hate the exterior, it looks like the same old same old, sorry, but the car has everything else going for it, except looks, and to me that's important, I think the interior, though undoubtedly high quality, looks fussy and not too well designed.
For me the XC60 Inscription looks the better overall package, and I would rather wake up in the morning with an XC60 waiting on the drive for me to admire, than this ugly duckling X3 .
