The fact that you trade with him at Misanthropes really tells you a lot about his character right off the bat, and possibly explains why he doesn't want to get off the boat and talk to you face to face. (A misanthrope is someone who dislikes humankind and avoids human society)
Coastal Highway has been getting shadow buffed for a while with these DLC updates, between better beachcombing, settled mind solving the need for a cave in the region, and safehouse customization allowing more viable base locations that aren't wolf central garage. But the addition of Sutherland has sealed it as the absolute best region in the game in my opinion, everything you need is in the region or just 1 region over. Absolutely stellar location now in every way.
The biggest problem with coastal highway is the lack of any bigger stoves. You save soo much resources with 6 burner stoves, because you can make water and cook many times faster. It also directly correlates to both calories and wood usage, so smaller stoves can quite literally triple your overall resource usage.
Yet another reason to use Coastal Highway as you main base's location, in addition to the combination of safe and fast travel on the ice, easy access to fish for vitamin C, a long shoreline for beach-combing, and being smack dam in between Desolation Point for the forge and Bleak Inlet for the milling machine and ammo workbench if you're playing with the firearms turned on. On that point, you can apparently cure fish now, so I wonder how that works with vitamin C. Also, the main problem with meat was that it smells when you carry it around, not that it doesn't keep for long, since you can still keep it around forever and then cook up what you need to bring it back up to 50%, or straight up ignore the condition once you max out your cooking skill.

For anyone wondering the trader has a very limited amount of supplies he can give you on interloper like every type of food is not abble to be traded except pickles for some reason and you can't get the wolfskin hat blueprint on interloper which I find weird because you can get the pants but not the hat. You also can't get the variant of the bow and arrow cause obvious and no gun because of course obvious reason, also no survival knife because again obvious reason, also no wool mittens that makes sence. But you can't get the T-shirt variant which is weird, the wool mitten variant, I get it you can't get them on interloper but T-shirt ? Like you can get the regular T-shirt on interloper but not the variant ? Other then that the trader is a welcome addition to the game but you can't do the story of him on interloper and again it weird. Remember when tales couldn't be activated on interloper, yeah controversies but they activated them on interloper with the interloper loot restriction. My solution for the story of the trader on interloper is to just, well do the same thing they did for the tale make the loot interloper one. For the bunker add losse brick in abandoned bunker solve the problem even if that makes no sence, I just want to experience the trader story on interloper. Also is name is Sutherland.
One question, how long do you have to collect and bring all the items to the locker? Does the trade "time out" or does it just start active until you add all the required items?
I think if that really cool and unique gun in the thumbnail is one of the trader’s offers that’d definitely be worth the hike. But for some dried apples or canned pineapples, yea I’m not sure that’d be particularly worth it
Feel like the firts time you contact the trader you should have an option to leave the island and "finish" the game or continue surviving that would be a nice ending to the infinite game
Although I absolutely love new additions to the game in last one year, a few things are a bit off the place. And one of those major ones is: Repeatativeness of tales. Is it just me who finds it really boring to hear the same story again and again without an option to skip it? There should be an option at start of each run whether we want to chronologically complete the tales or just unlock it directly if it is completed once on that level of difficulty.
@Zaknafein I hope they change that. I do find that a bit silly. It doesn't change much in the game besides making things just a bit easier and practical. What are your thoughts?

Hopefully they tweak some of these requirements a bit or add new unique items in the world that the trader needs.

Now just a few 100 days till we get it on switch 😂😂😂
Just got to kill 8 wolves to get there 😂
Why is there no new uodate on ps4. I am waiting for 2 days
i just hope they lower the requirments a little bit. 3 batteries for 5 bullets. batteries are not THAT plentiful. at least in my experiences.
Imagine someone mod the game to swim to the boat. 😂😂😂
It's Misantrope's Island, not Jackrabbit island.
I really want this wolfskin pants but i can,t find 3 car bateris on my 905 day interlupel run 😂
10Kg of Salt for 3 Kg of meat. That would last me several hundred game days.
In real life, the rule of thumb is 1lb of salt for every pound of meat.
What no improvised socks?😊
Who has 36 cedar wood 😂 They should've just partnered with Walmart and opened one in game. With their slave labor they'd only ask for 7 cedar
36 cedar is insaaaane! Especially on interloper, someone will freeze to death collecting that for sure xD
When is ps5 update
Why is there a rifle and a bow in the thumbnail for this video if you aren't going to talk about them? Are they actually available?
Yes, Trader only
I don't see how the apples are worth it. If you are chopping the wood, then you are using time, calories, and durability on your tools. Even if they're 3 servings each and 1200 calories total it still doesn't seem worth it. Hopefully they tweak some of these requirements a bit or add new unique items in the world that the trader needs.
I think it's just for if you're desperate for vitamin C, but it's still over priced. But basically every food item isn't worth the trouble. Only special blueprints and items might be remotely worth it.
@@peoplez129 Are the requirements higher/lower based on difficulty? I just started my first trade for 3 bags of flour. It's raw meat and water. I can live with that. I'll do 3 trades and try to bring a battery each time. If there are still batteries of course.
I think some of the item required are too much... 3 batteries ? in interloper, seriously ? it's hard enough to find one for the tale, but 3, and transport them too... or that much wood...
Then I guess you don't get that item.
If you start a new save, there are more batteries. I found 3 In Desolation Point, and 2 in Coastal highway so far, and i barely looked for them. And that's on Interloper, day 3 currently lol
I like the trader a bit but his voice lines have some troubling lore implications. like is the game setting of the survival mode a purgatory scenario or something ?
Sad and disappointed - PS4 user. 😢 They should have launched it on all platforms simultaneously.
