The large Q is an homage to the original Qartz chronograph watches from the seventies of which I have quite a few. Remember, this is their homage line so its perfectly in keeping. I believe the chronograph action is correct, it is a fully electrical system so no click. On the whole though as you say, you have to take into account the price. There are going to be compromises, to expect more is foolish I feel. When you think a thousand buck seiko has as similar quality bracelet so do some Omegas with the friction pins. I don´t know why people get caught up on that. You set the size once and never need to do it again. Screws can and do come loose in use, your not going to get that with friction pins! For similar price you can get watches from made up start up watch brands or you can get one from a brand with real horological chops and history!

I have a brown leather strap that Im gonna cut to fit the watch. I dont mind the Q at 12, its kind of unique and if they didnt do that then its just another chrono homage! Also I was able to use the email signup discount. This watch is 100x better than the failed moonswatch…so underated.
Hi - you mention replacing the bracelet with a strap. The strap is notched (18mm at lugs, then 22mm). WHERE can one find notched straps at a reasonable price? Having such a hard time. THANK YOU!
Great review as always however it’s not a dive watch nor dive style, it’s a chronograph with a tachymeter. It can be used to measure speed and distance. Great for racing enthusiasts or pilots. For example, if for whatever reason your speedometer doesn’t work you can use it to measure your speed. That actually happened to me when the speedo cable broke on my ‘77 Pontiac while traveling to Texas.
Another reviewer said the marketing called it a "driver" watch, but the sheet inside said diver, so perhaps it's a typo... It would make a lot more sense!
I believe its a nice execution at its price point. I have a Dan Henry Evil Panda I slightly prefer...which is also a Quartz movement which I prefer on all watches because of accuracy and no need for winding. Thanks for your review.
Lmao nao need for winding but need to change batery.. automatic watch is the best.. yeah they lose seconda by like 3 weeks, not much lol… and i dont have to change nothing!!!!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say $200 for a watch to the average person is stretching it. Most non-watch obsessive people use their phones as their time keeper. That's the genius of Timex in recent times, give people enough value for the lightest hit on the wallet. Just an opinion, great review.
Thanks for this review. I'm not getting it. After the bracelet alignment issue, I use chronograph often so that top pusher feedback is silly. Lume sucks too? Cmon. Outside of that it is a good looking watch but why release it with these quality quirks? I have cheaper watches that operate better. Very surprised Timex would release a Q model with these quality issues. And I was looking to scoop this up. Ah well. Maybe next gen; they will fix these issues.
Date is still important, bud. And I like the bracelet, it makes it quite sporty. It's not a homage to Omega or Rolex as chronographs have been done by Timex also in the past.
I own 100 Timex watches and bought them all in a span of two years. I own all the Q's which I love, however Timex did a weird thing as I was waiting for this one to drop, they came out with the Waterbury Chronograph that looks nicer and is a bit cheaper, it looks a lot more like the Omega Speedmaster. I agree with you, that the large Q makes it look cheesy and the new Waterbury does not have it which is why I'm guessing they put it on the Q. They look so similar I'm guessing it is to tell them apart. Timex dropped the ball by releasing them at the same time (in fact while waiting for the Q, the Waterbury came out without any fanfare). Having said that, for the price, they are a much better option then a plastic Omega Swatch. In fact, it's a no brainer when you compare them.
Yea the dive part of the watch is what confuses me as you mentioned. Stylistically I like the watch, but I think the dive bezel with an oversize dome makes it kind of a unicorn. All quartz movements should IMO be no thicker than 10.5 mm, so it's almost like they tried to make it look like a mechanical watch.. strange. Maybe a thinner version, flatter acrylic and without the dive bezel.. maybe more of a Tisot Chrono PRX style and Timex would have knocked it out of the park.
For a little more you can get a Seiko or Citizen, or a mechanical Seagull or some vintage Italian , French or Soviet chronos. This one looks to me like a toy (as politely shown in the video)
It's also not in the "same league" as a Zenith, Blancpain or Daytona, being a tiny fraction of the cost of those and others, so your point must be...you get what you pay for. Quite the novel concept!
I have this watch. Very handsome. No complaints. An observation though . . . it seems very heavy on the wrist. Also have the Pagani 1644. While I feel the Pagani is a better watch, I love both. I'll never understand the preference for acrylic over sapphire. The Pagani has sapphire . . . and is actually cheaper than this Timex Q.
Excellent review! To be honest though, a ToysRus watch is Moonswatch killer. Seriously though I got an Orient solar panda Chronograph for the same price as the piece of sxxt Moonswatch. This Timex is a very nice watch. Agree on the Q. A II marker and the Q added at the end of the Timex logo or underneath would have been better.
I bought into the gype train and grabbed this watch on a black firday promo at 30% off. I opened it and sent it back firs thing, the hidden lugs leaves a big opening which I found unsighly, something reviewiers dont mention. I would have preferred open lugs at 20mm so users can put their own straps on. Secondly. The legibility of this watch is quite bad, it's hard to read the time just by looking at it, the dial is too busy with all the subdials, but the monochrome hands on blad just gets hard to read. The acrylic dome is very refelective, can get away with this on a diver or something. but on a chronograph with smaller indicies and hands, its becomes a bit legibility issue and adds to the legibility problrms. The subdials and other parts are very cream coloured in real life, this is not shown very well on youtube reviews because the high lighting makes it appear more white.
Where could I find a leather strap close to the leather strap version of this watch? I just got this watch and would like to get a feel for the different look
Thanks for clarifying the crystal. I was really disappointed to read on their website that it was a mineral crystal. I was hoping for the acrylic. Glad it is!
@@terrydanks I prefer it because it can be easily buffed out. If you scratch mineral, you're stuck with the scratches. The acrylic scratches easier, but it is super easy to fix.

But at that $200-$500 range of quartz chronographs there are options that manage to click on both pushers.
Hey, Chris, your reviews are great. Thanks. I got one of these a few days ago, and it’s gorgeous and works well. Question for you: when will you review the new colorway/configuration for the Q Chronograph? Gold pushers and crown, gold trim around the bezel, goldish/creamy dial, black subs, brown leather band? I just got a notification about this from Timex today 9/17. Thanks.
@@Area_man115 I just saw that one as well. It is beautiful! I will definitely try and get one in for review. Thanks for your kind words, really appreciate it. It's always great motivation hearing people enjoy the reviews. So thank you very much. Made my day!!!

Hopefully Timex releases an automatic version with a half decent movement, sapphire crystal and a better bracelet. Love the looks but not keen on the materials.
That is a really nice looking watch and with those measurements it'll fit the vast majority of the population. But honestly, I'd rather buy a Sugess. But I understand why people don't like Chinese watches. To each their own. 🤷
I know. I was looking at sugess for months but just kinda figured it wasn't worth it, not automatic, the sub dial at 6 is just the time so it's useless. And where do you get it serviced? I think the service would cost more than the watch itself.
@@Mikesmeyer88 well realistically you wouldn't get it serviced. You would just chuck it and buy a new one. And I actually like mechanical watches a lot. I can't explain it, but there's just something that I love about winding the watch each time you wear it.
