I haven't watched an entire movie in a long time, and this one was a great one!!! Honestly, many different emotions came out watching this. As a born-again Christian I definitely related to this, much more now than before....................thank you for posting!! God bless you

Danner was much nicer to her grands than she was to Eug(ene), her son in Brighton Beach Memoirs but both are memorable and must-sees.

I must say this was one movie that kept me watching to the very end .. many movies I fast forward but this one was so very cool in everyway !!

Stories conceived by novelists are almost always more real and engaging than stories thrown together by screenwriters. This movie is close to perfect - and it's far more involved than the brief description above indicates. What amazed me the most was how a sweeping tale spanning generations could be told so well in an hour and a half.
In the opening scene, I have one of those exact little lawnmowers out in my garage. It belonged to my godparents, and I clearly remember Philip out back in his yard every Saturday morning cutting the grass. I was thrilled to get it after they both died and my sister and I received everything they owned. Seeing it now brings back wonderful memories . I am 79 years old. 1-11-2024 in Atlanta

Speaking critically about other people's relationships is not a good idea. Additionally, not everything is what it seems. Therefore, it's not a good idea to share all you perceive.
It's a fantastic movie. It brought tears to my eyes. I like how everything worked out in the end.
Yet it is in analysis & debate that we learn & grow! We can't be so fragile that we can't handle speech!
Did Mary Louise Parker get an Osacar or Emmy or another award for this...? She is FANTASTIC!

If you google it, you'll see she has many awards, Emmys, SAGs, Golden Globes. Don't know about Oscars. She is a astounding, enchanting lady and actor. Her work is superb!

Great movie. Wonderful to see how a young man riddled with guilt over the death of his brother found peace and penance by raising the kids left orphaned by his actions.
You dont see movies like this anymore. Kids outside playing, running for the ice cream truck, not a computer, ipad or mobile phone anywhere. Miss those days very much. All we see now is dumbass kids glued to their mind numbing phones taking stupid selfies and crying when the internet crashes. Very sad

Beware of the theology espoused in this movie. Ephesians 2:8 says that we are saved by grace not by works. Doing something to gain atonement, no matter how noble or sacrificial is works. God forgives and atonement is all a divine work in the life of the believer.

That's not the point! He was broken by legitimate guilt. Caring for those children saved him and them. Love covers all
True. By Grace not by works. Works will NOT get one into heaven, But because of Jesus, we are to do what He would have done, in His name sake. We do because that's what He wants.
Faith without works is Dead James 2:14-26
So true. God has already forgiven us of all past present and future sin. He is true to His Word. He loved us so much that He gave us His Son that whoever BELIEVES in Him should not perish but have an abundant prosperous life. John 3.16

The movie is beautiful. However when we ask for Gods forgiveness He forgives us. He does not want or expect us to atone for our sins. That would mean we must work for our salvation and we dont its a gift.

Oops ! Looks like I starting watching the wrong movie. I definitely am Christian, and this man is telling Ian that he is not forgiven by God UNLESS he WORKS for it. God does not accept us for our WORKS. Works FOLLOW His saving us. This video wreaks of false doctrine, and the person who put this video up ought to be ASHAMED of themselves for spreading this lie about God. I am disgusted.

It was good. I think there was one perfect line missing from the script. When Agatha tells Daphne she just wants to make sure Ian has a full life, Daphne should have responded, “What makes you think he hasn’t?” ❤

the preacher mentioned 1 John 3:13, and he said you have to do works for God's forgiveness and atonement. That is not what the word of God says or this verse.

MLP is a quirky actress, always good.
This is a good movie and it about love , death and forgiveness. He blame himself for his brother death he shouldn't lie to his brother and tell him his wife cheating on him and his not father of her child. His brother wife kill herself and it sad her kids are orphan now. Blythe Danner is a good actress and her real life daughter is Gywneth Paltrow.

Gosh, what a sad story!! I'm surprised everyone says it was such a beautiful film, but no one says how incredibly heartbreaking it was.
It sure was heartbreaking for the brother who accused the brother's wife, the movie focused on repentance, atonement and healing... nice!

I'm questioning the theology of this movie🤔.
We don't have to make atonement or pay for our sins or mistakes or make up for it, Jesus already paid the price for our sins. Maybe God wanted him to be a part of the children's lives and help take care of them. It was sort of part of his destiny.
