- My dad bought and fully restored the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser lj70 lx 2.4D. The car was completely stripped down and all its parts were in boxes.
Next all components including the frame, bodywork, brakes, suspension, differential etc were completely rebuilt, serviced, checked and restored. Sandblasted, painted and so on. All new bearings and seals new screws, bolts and so on. My dad has been working on this project during evenings and weekends, all in his free time which was very limited, all BY HIMSELF. The re-spraying was done by his mate, who also sprayed the Pajero. He spent hours and countless evenings in the workshop, sometimes well after midnight. I don't live with him, so I couldn't film the whole restoration, shame, but I told him to keep taking pictures. The car will get a few more bits and bobs in the next few months, but it looks great already!
This video is my little tribute to his hard work and dedication to complete this project and put this amazing car back on the road. Toyota will be registered as a vintage classic car. MY FAVORITE CAR IN THE WORLD
They don’t make cars like that anymore and there is no many left out there. There is something beautiful about 80-90-2000 cars. The simplicity, the smell. I know, there is no big screen, no sat nav and is not as quiet inside as the modern cars. But the experience while driving is priceless! Best.

Wow your dad is a legend! Where does his experience come from? Is he a mechanic by trade?
He’s been repairing machinery and working with metal (welding, fabricating ect) since he was 16. So now at age of 64 his knowledge is huge. My neighbour has a garden gate made by my dad back in 1970s and the gate still didn’t break. When I was a kid and we had some financial problems over winter month, he would design and build a sawmills then sell it. He is an incredible man with such a knowledge and on hands experience! Shall I interview him in front of a camera?
