- An update on progress with Chalkdon, my 009 narrow gauge layout, built just for the fun of it! This time there has been progress with the station area, a cattle grid has been installed and following rummaging through some boxes at WMD HQ I found a complete 009 train! I also talk about the controller I use, a Bachmann EZ Command DCC controller which although about 20 years old is quite a versatile means of control with a surprising feature for being able to run DC locos on a DCC layout.
What a fantastic layout. Hopefully I can do something in 009 before too long. It’s so full of character 👍

Hello Darren, Thank you for your comment - very much appreciated. Hope that my layout has given you some ideas and there are many other 009 layouts on RUclips that are inspiring. My only advice, for what it is worth, is don't be afraid to start building.! As I say to Mrs. Woody when I have started one of those jobs she wants done - 'That's the difficult bit over with!' To which she replies 'But you have only just started it!'. My response is 'Exactly!'
The 009 layout looks great, I'll be showing it my grandson next time I see him. He's planning to build one inthe near future. I'm sure he'll be posting updates on his Dylington Model Railway channel once he's started.... cheers James 🙂👍
Hello James, Thank you for your great comment. Having looked at your grandson's channel I was that impressed I became the 100th subscriber. The layout is fantastic and the videos are very skillfully done. I di hope he does build an 009 layout as it will no doubt be a stunner. I will keep an eye out for any updates. Woody
