Joe Rappa I usually cut them into three sections, the head, the body, and the tail piece. My favorite part is the head because when you hook it through the mouth it’s really hard for it to come off of the hook when you cast
It’s pretty much for the video actually, just so I can get the entire 9’ rod in frame so people can watch the fight. It’s certainly not the best way to fight a fish in the surf but sacrifices must be made lol
TheMasterCasters thanks man! Drove over there today from Wildwood. Ended up catching two dog fish. Which made me happy. First time ever fishing saltwater, or even being to a beach!
I love using classic hi lo rigs in the surf, usually 20 pound fluoro with two dropper loopers, size 2 J hooks, and a 3oz pyramid sinker. Clam usually works really well. Just cast it beyond the first set of breakers and you should be golden 👍🏻

When u used the kingfish as bait for the sharks, did u use the whole fish or just a chopped up piece.

Yup! It’s a Dusky Smoothhound, a type of Houndshark

This was morning, I usually start surf fishing at first light until the lifeguards show up
Is it legal to catch and take the stingray in NJ?
