Sony XPERIA All Models hidden tricks
1. SAFE MODE
. - Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily remove all apps that maybe causing a conflict or a software problem.
. - First way to enter Safe mode, pres the power off button. From the Power off menu, tab and hold "Power off" option, until you see "Reboot to safe mode" menu.
. - Second way - turn off the phone. Turn it on and when you see the Xperia logo, press and hold the volume down button until the phone load Safe mode.
. - To get out of the safe mode, simply turn off and turn on the device.
2. HIDDEN TEST MENU
. - To enter into Test menu, open the Dealer app and enter this code: #*#7378423#*#
. - From here you can test Cameras, Microphones, Loudspeakers, Earpiece, Touchscreen, Display, GPS, Accelerometer, Proximity switch, Pressure sensor, Compass, Gyroscope, etc. Also you can find information for the Firmware, SIM lock status, Working bands, etc., and do a Factory reset (Reset customization).
3. HARD AND SOFT RESET
. - Soft reset - Because, for this models you can't remove the battery, Sony provide you physically reset button. You can use it, if your device freeze. This will not affect your data and settings.
. - If your device crashes, freezes or if you have a problem with the Android OS, you can perform a Hardware reset. This will delete all personal data and will set the device into factory settings.
4. DEVELOPER MENU
. - Developer Options have many features for app developer to test an app on their device from PC via ADB. From this menu you can activate USB Debugging mode. On more recent versions of Android, the developer options have been hidden.
. - To enable Developer options, go to Settings - About phone. Navigate to the bottom and you should see Build Number. Now tab it 7 times and ... "You are now a developer." :)
5. RETAIL DEMO MODE
. - In this mode the phone start demo video and do this every time it goes to sleep mode. Older version of Android have a bug, that allowed to change the screen lock if the phone has Lock screen. For the newer version you can't enter "Retail mode" if the phone is screen locked.
. - To enter and go out this mode, enter this code: #*#73556673#*#

- No, this is like a safe mode for Windows. The OS starts without customer installed apps and you can check and uninstall some of them to fix a problem.

I was thinking to buy sony experia z3 and tryin to watch videos here. And i prefer experia only if it does the ff:
If it can run games with no lag at all, like dead trigger, darkness reborn, future fight, etc. (no question to iphone 6, it does what it says)
If it lets me watch movies using external memory without using any other party apps. (lack to iphone)
If the screen is wide enough than what it is now. Cos i can see wasted spaces with z3.. (NO PHONE in history yet)

Check the speakers from the test menu. If all is OK then the problem is SW. You can reflash the phone with Sony PC Companion or you can try to uninstall the last installed apps.
If not, then the problem is hardware and the speaker have to be changed.. Before this check the earpiece slit for a dust.
Anyone know how to bypass/disable built-in volume controls? I want to download a volume controler as the Xperia z5 compact keeps adjusting down wards on its on accord, won't allow volume booster apps to work and plays RUclips music too quietly for my liking. Soundcloud music volume is excellent but the phone still messes with the volume automacally. I just want full control over what ever volume l choose. Many thanks

Cheryl turtlemoon. The pre-installed aps are part of the official ROM for the device. You can try to stop some of them from the App manager. The only way to remove them is if you have Superuser permition (you have to root your device) but this will immediately void your warranty.

I have friend with Z1, she lock her Z1 with her sim card.
Unfortunately, she forgot she did that.
What happen was she used other sim card to use the Z1 and the anti-theft was activated.
Ryan Macayan You can reflash the phone. I have not had a such problem but I think if you enter wrong code more times, the phone will offer you format.

Check the antenna cable and connectors. This is a blue wire that runs along the battery. The connectors are very fragile. Use a magnifying glass to look at them.
About the camera, again check the connectors (front or rear camera?).

To check is this a hardware problem, do a factory reset (of course make a backup before this) and use the phone 1-2 days. If you have this problem again, then this is a hardware problem. It can be a touch screen or main board problem.

Try with a hard reset (backup your data first).
i'm unable to go for recovery mode, even when i can use adb and the command reboot recovery, the phone just skip the process and go directly to the default mode

Try to set your phone to factory setting. But you must first connect your coc account to your gmail which is found in coc settings.

I have an xperia z1 and the battery is going from any % it doesnt matter if its 80% or 27% to 1% and the phone goes off, i can only turn it on if i plug it. I already tried a lot of things i have seen in forums, i rooted it and did the battery callibration.

If the problem is with the Android OS you can fix this with a factory reset, otherwise your problem is the hardware.
Maybe the problem is with the battery.

Try another battery. The batteries have electronics inside. Some times this electronics make a problems. One of them is incorrect battery metering.

Because this are different sensors, it's unlikely to be a hardware problem.
To be sure that this is not a software problem, safe your data and do a factory reset. If this not resolve the problem,, ask a specialist to check the hardware.

Hello. Bought Sony z3 last week and now the camera is not working. Every time I try to open camera it says Error camera not available. I turned on safe mode and checked it works on safe mode. If you have a problem with the volume buttons, your device always will go into safe mode.
Try this - switch off the phone and pres 3-5 times the volume down button more hard. Be careful, don't break the phone. Switch the phone on.
If you have a problem with the volume buttons flex cable, the only way is to replace this cable.

Applications installed from the customer.
The device comes with apps implanted in the OS. You can't uninstall them because they are part of the OS.
Third party applications are written to work within operating systems, but you have a choice, which one to install and uninstall after.

Overheating on camera is not a problem only for Z3 plus, as i know, Z2 has the same problem.
You can try to hard reset the phone. It's good to make a factory reset after big upgrade. This remove the problems with incompatibility apps. Of course first do a backup.

After 4 months of using z3+ I found that overheating is affecting phone performance... And that is obvious in gaming... Some games lags alot... I have emailed sonys support about this but still no respond...I used to have Xperia zr and it was perfect in gaming...in same games I use to play z3plus it's very bad which supposed to be better than zr...and that is enough to refund
It's strange. Maybe there is a problem with an installed apps. Make a backup and try to factory reset it.
It's not strange... This is the problem of 810 snapdragon processer... Sony try to resolve this problem by using another processer as back up while 810 is cooling down... And this procedure makes the phone less in performance than the zr...
