To b fair, astro is good for nostalgics, but it’s just a platform games like many others, the poetry overwhelms Wukong. Its story, its lore is beyond its gameplay full of defaults, but the bestiary, all the characters u have in this game… this is where games can reach art.
I believe in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Robin was losing to Little John and he asked Azeem for advice and he said "Move Faster" and the response was "right right move faster got it."
This is GOTY to me, and I don't care if it wins the title. And I don't think the game devs care if they win it either, they have won so much more than what a title can give them. They are SunWukong, on their journey to the West they have been through 81 trials including some real evil ones like IGN, SWI and GR. At the end I believe we all have learnt that Wukong doesn't need the title from Buddha to acknowledge what he's achieved.
Wukong will definitely not become the game of the year, just because it is a Chinese game. TGA, in order to maintain its reputation, will give wukong a nomination award or an irrelevant award. Just like Red Dead Redemption 2, it will not affect the players. position in the heart.

no maps, no exploration, repetitive combat, poor performance on console, awful potions system, boring Boss animations, obscure cutscenes with meaningless and bland lines, game is hyped asf🤣 this game ain’t winning goty and doesn’t deserved to be nominated, 7/10 at best. The only good about this game is visual due to UE5.

This is game of the year. I'm now on my 2nd playthrough. Because I did the secret bosses and stuff now I get a voice over from Wukong in New game ,+. Dawg this is the best game since Elden Ring.
Yes some of them are. Personally I think the fights against Titan and Bahamut are some of the best spectacle in the entire industry today. That being said FF16 is pretty inconsistent in other aspects. Some of the sidequests in FF16 are very boring and tedious.

I can see Black Myth Wukong being nominated in the the action game game category, but against the likes of Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, I don't think it's winning Game of the Year.
Considering it's one of the fastest selling games of all time, and rebirth has been openly criticized by square for not meeting their expectations, rebirth is more than likely out of the running

Its GOTY for people who don't play alot of games Its not even close to other action games, or Souls-ish type games, or even close to stuff like Rebirth or even Space Marine 2 Game is great, don't get me wrong, but either you don't play anything else, or have some weird political bias because it's "not woke" or some weak minded manchild opinion
As someone who platinumed over 150+ games, done over 7 playthroughs in each fromsoft soulsborne games, even done lies of P, lords of the fallen, and other non fromsoft souls games. This is up there. It's gameplay is more reminiscent of Nioh with Sekiro progression. It's solid. It's definitely miles above half the fromsoft library. Final Fantasy Rebirth is a remake of a game, not original, and what is original about is the ridiculous amounts of minigames they shove down your throat. The majority of the game is near empty open worlds and s-ranking minigames for rewards which is unfortunate when it should've been much more. Space Marines 2 is an average old school shooter. I play sniper and vanguard class. The game is solid with friends and awful without. Campaign is mildly interesting for a shooter campaign, the operations are repetitive and minimal. The PvP is horribly unbalanced with 3 maps and 3 gamemodes. Unbiased, own all three games.
