It warmed my Canadian heart to see a guest who was even tempered and polite. Thomas really balanced out the group energy with his kindness and active listening skills.
Ive followed thomas on tumblr for years but have never seen him do a more long term interview or anything that wasnt a planned out sketch, this was really cool to see
THE PAGEMASTER!!!!!! I was obsessed with this movie as a kid and read so many classic books that were referenced in it because of this cinematic masterpiece.
For an old movie like this is was most likely 24 frames per second (yes 24 whole ass drawings for ONE second of animation) More modern stuff sometimes does 30 And when it feels kinda jumpy like say spider verse of some of the new TMNT stuff that probably them "animating on twos" which essentially means 12 frames per second Animation is a field/skill that's super accessible online and the online community/free tutorial space for it is honestly so awesome - spent a lot of my childhood consuming it and animating
Can I just make a suggestion to have “Fern Gully” as an episode? Avid Try Stan here and would make a fantastic guest host 😉 love love love this podcast the most! Keep up the great work
The animated movies I watched most as a kid were Balto, The Secret of Nihm, An American Tail, Anastasia, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Oliver & Company and I’m sure there’s more I’m not remembering right now!
@@helenfhnin i must have missed it! I've heard them mention other youtubers/celebs repeatedly but I don't ever remember Thomas Sanders' name come up as a Keith lookalike for some reason.
Thomas is so sweet, im glad they all agree that he must be protected. Also you guys should do the Kingman movies sense Kelsey doesn't believe Colin Firth can do action.
appreciate garrick talking about the animation and how painstaking that process would be. I believe standard animation is 8-16 FPS back in the 90s, so for 60 minutes worth of animation at 8 frames per second...that would be 28,800 hand-drawn images. (57,600 images for 16 FPS)
When I saw that this one was Pagemaster my brain told me it was Rock-a-Doodle and i got super excited until I saw your comment and realized that I was wrong, this was the other weird trippy real-life / cartoon movie of the same generation
I couldn't remember the title (and I hadn't read the comments yet) and I was like, hmm, this reminds me of another movie from my childhood... and then I googled Rooster Elvis xD
A big reason this movie bombed (financially anyways) is because it was released in late November 1994, and its main competition was The Santa Clause. Fun facts! : D
I always knew I loved Thomas Sanders, but when Cat's Don't Dance got brought up, I lost it. It is an AMAZING movie you guys HAVE to watch for the podcast and bring Thomas back!!!!
I've been a massive bookworm ever since I was little and when this movie came out I was ENCHANTED. I should really rewatch it, I bet I would get so much joy to visit the world again as an adult. (And I ADORED Once Upon A Forest, what a throwback.)
SPICE WORLD!!! I CANT WAIT! Side note, we had that on VHS and it was definitely worn out. My older brothers still make fun of me for making them watch that movie so many times. Spice World is definitely a nostalgic feel!
My kindergarten teacher told my parents that I was the tiniest little old lady she’d ever met, carrying around my books with my glasses on one of those chains
This was my favorite guest so far! He blended so well with your group. The back and forth was very entertaining. His voice is amazing too. Now I need to go rewatch some of his videos 😂😂
I keep wishing Kelsey is just doing a bit every time she seems absolutely clueless/has outrageously random takes about things on this podcast but I also really love her for it too!❤️
I kind of want Thomas in one of the without a recipe episode. He always used to say he's not a good cook and he also has a food sponsor. It would be a fun thing to watch, especially with the craziness that happens in the try guys kitchen.
I'm doing work rn so I can't listen to/watch this at the moment, but I just came to say I love this movie! So glad you're doing it! Will come back and watch this soon :)
Anyone else remember Rock-a-doodle? The live-action to animated story line in that movie and Pagemaster were so magical to me as a small child (Rockadoodle is kind of horrifying to watch as an adult though). Such a wonderful podcast and a great guest, as always!
Someone else champions the cinematic musical masterpiece that is cats don't dance! It was one of my favorites as a kid and it makes so much sense that this was done by the same studio.
Cat’s Don’t Dance? Fergully? Once Upon A Forest? I desperately want to rewatch all these! I loved those movies growing up and had them all on VHS. If they brought up A Troll in Central Park, I would have lost it.
i was just looking at thomas's youtube yesterday wondering what hes been up to!! so cool to see him banter w yall, thomas riffs off all three of you so well!!
The corners of Zach’s and Thomas’s walls lined up SO perfectly
So satisfying
Oh wow, they do!
✨Satisfying✨
Wow
You guys NEED to get Thomas Sanders to guest star on the Try Guys!!
Yes!
He would fit in swimmingly 🥰
Why does Garrick look like he's filming from a wedding venue
Because he's filming from a wedding venue.
Surprise!
“Macaulay Culkin is the Vin Diesel of the 90s”
💀😂😂
😂
Garrick: NY loft
Kelsey: Instagram vignette
Thomas: Cozy Winter fireplace mantle
Zach: paper bag....
What is going on with Zach's background?!
Thomas's is a book shelf, but... yeah what is zach's???
Hes a minimalist
I think on the trypod he said that he recently moved and that he knows it gonna take him forever to decorate his office 🤣
He recently moved so I don’t think he decorated to much 😂 or maybe it’s copyrighted art
@@leahwaughtal4000 but wouldn't a white wall be acceptable? Why the slouchy paper bag look? Lol
Thomas Sanders?! I've never clicked so damn fast. Vine legend.
Kelsey:"give us one thing that's bad about you!!"
Thomas: "soooo many things"
Kelsey"you watch weird porn??"
I LOST IT 😂😂😂😂

I’m shocked someone hasn’t brought Labyrinth. David Bowie and Jim Henson puppets seems like this podcasts niche
Yesssss the labyrinth!!!!! We need it and we need it NOW
That’s my favorite movie 😂
For sure one of my favorites.. but definitely a questionable plot
Not really guilty

Oliver and Company hadbangers for songs.

There's The Sword and Stone, an animated film from the early 60s.
Love how everyone has a beautiful background and Zack only hang a towel
That looks like he's covering up comething with a blanket? 🤔
This film was locked in a chest in the deepest part of my mind, so much so that I completely forgot this was one of the best movies of my childhood

I rewatched this a while ago as an adult and it still was wonderful.

OMG I LOVE THE PAGEMASTER & THOMAS
Super fun episode, I rented The Pagemaster on VHS about 6 weekends in a row with my best friend and we had sleepovers with lots of pizza.
The movie that Garrick was thinking of at the top of the pod is "The Neverending Story" which is kinda the late eighties version of this movie

Zach’s reactions and giggling starting at 41:30 were very adorable
I showed this movie to my 7th graders when we learned about Hero's Journey. It actually works really well.
