this genre of movies that y’all are doing… ratatouille, happy feet, etc. with the character who has a TALENT for something that sets them apart from the rest of their family and community, being sort of outcasted and under appreciated for what they can do. working hard for others to see their gift and inspire that love for their art within others. wanting to be accepted and appreciated for who they are and what they can do without conforming to expectations… it’s no wonder i had those two on repeat as a child lmao
i can't believe they're not gonna tell "individual" stories now... individual like not white?? i wish i hadn't seen inside out 2 now. it was fine, but all these supposedly failed movies were wonderful
I agree! I liked Luca and Turning Red a lot but I LOVED Soul. The connection to music, the second chance at life, the idea that you have a mentor amazing!
Ratatouille is the best!! I always cry watching it. Food is so wonderfully powerful. I’m so happy Zach and Kelsey both loved the movie. “You have glasses, why are you so blind to this?” 😂
Fun episode!! Loved the off track neurodivegent rambling but also really felt the loss of Garrett grounding these two. wouldve loved his input and impassioned defense of animation as an art form (not that it was attacked here i just always love to hear it).
now why did this episode make me kind of emotional???? i love art i love people talking about art i love people feeling so very strongly about art - thank you zach for all the passionate speeches in this episode about the beauty of creating and the way it moves people
Brad Bird does it again!! The man knows that animation is just a medium, not a genre, not just for kids --- Ratatouille is a movie for EVERYONE, in such a big way. Will sing his praises for all time.
Pixar using Turning Red, Luca, and Soul as their scapegoat to go back to “universal” ⚪️ was so disappointing. Ps! Do not give up on the DCOMS!! They are truly a gift!
This movie taught me to use my nose more than my eyes to cook. More often than not I'm experimenting with dishes by smelling spices and herbs and adding them in. Ratatouille is STILL a culinary goal for me. It sometimes makes me regret pursuing writing instead of cooking but I still have to practice my skills because with a major food allergy, it's the only way I can have anything good/gourmet!
Kelsey, I host a Disney Original Movie night at my apartment and because of the Brink! episode I decided to watch it last week thanks to this podcast. Everyone had a great time and I had never seen it before so I owe it to you guys for talking about it.😊❤
I love when y’all break down movies into what it’s actually about. A lot of people sadly take movies too literally anymore because of lack of imagination and other things and it’s very troubling
Did you guys not notice that the house Ego flashes back to is the old woman that the Remy and his family are living in the roof of in the beginning of the film!!
I'm just suprised it took you guys so long to do this one! Also you gotta do When Marnie was there, I wanna see what Kelsey thinks of the ending there's a whole thing about without spoiling for her
😂 Kind of criminal for Zach…a Lost die hard stan, to not mention the composer, Michael Giacchino. Ratatouille is fantastic, but it would be nothing without the score. The same can be said for Lost (and it’s also my favorite of all time). Giacchino eats ❤
I need you guys to cover the first episode of food wars (the anime). it is the definition of a "guilty pleasure" and the food in it... you will understand.
Hard disagree, Up is one of my favorite Pixar movies. The first 10 minutes get a lot of (well deserved) credit, but nothing makes me cry like the "Stuff We Did" sequence towards the end.
I'll never forget when I went to Paris for a school trip and ate at the ratatouille themed restaurant in Disneyland and it was the best meal I ate the whole time there 😂
this is kind of a longshot request but you guys should do the guardians of ga'hoole movie! it's animated by the studio that did happy feet, and the protagonist is voiced by jim sturgess who was jude in across the universe
Turning Red and Luca are some of my most rewatched movies ever. I watch Luca so much that when I ask my fiance what he wants to watch before bed he says "not Luca" because I've made him so sick of it lol
Also I'm a woman and I have a buzz lightyear inspired tattoo and toy story 2 is my favorite Pixar movie. So maybe im an outlier but I love those movies!
I love Ratatouille! And Finding Nemo will always be up there in my top 3 animated films, but I loved when Kelsey spoke about the Toy Story movies, I've never gotten the hype and will confirm, not a dude. Thanks for covering this one, I love when y'all do the animated movies!!
I just had a conversation about my love for film including animation with my mom the other day. She always refers to them as kids movies, because I was talking about Bambi. There is so much beauty in that film and it's terrible that it can just be overlooked as art and just forced into the idea of children's media.
Did pixar really pigeonhole luca as a "personal story" bc of the gay themes - that are really only slightly implied and easily dismissable and never actually in the movie at all???
Luca is an amazing movie but it is about friendship. Sure you could twist parts of it , but even the director said it's a bout the friendship between the boys. They are little kids in this movie, boys can have a deep meaningful relationship with out it being turned into a love interest. It honestly shows perfect how children that age handle friends(I taught that age for years). They are an extremely hard time understanding that people can have more then one friend or that their friend can have separate interests then them. And the movie showed beautiful how they grew and understood that it's ok to be friends with more people and how they can have separate interests.
Also zach the bell pepper really isnt integral to the dish, literally it doesnt matter to exclude it from the recipe or replace it with some other vegetables- i often even use mushrooms
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I think Kelsey would get a kick out of the animes Yakitate!! Japan and Food Wars! They're both very food centric and the judges always go on crazy journeys while taste testing.
Telling a story as a "universal" is taking a top down approach to story telling. It's like this great truth exists and if you don't know what it is or understand why it's important, you might as well put an L on your forehead. Telling a story as individual experience is a bottom up approach. The individual must learn the truth or great universal concept in a way that's meaningful to them, which basically becomes the premise/plot of the movie. The lessons that are learned and just not accepted are the ones that mean the most.
Dawg if my “best friends” did my favorite movies without me there because i have work things, i’d have to be on site for them. /j Not one, but of the movies that he holds dear, nah y’all.
Okay, but now you HAVE to do Flushed Away. It’s only right! For the rats! 🐀
Just watch it and it’s (pun intended) chef’s kiss
The cast alone is worth watching! No! The SLUGS alone is worth watching!!! 🤣😂
Petition to stop doing animation without Garrick! How dare you! Wait for Garrick before the next animated episode.
Honestly!!! I always look forward to Garrick's passionate monologue about anime and animated movies lol
Agreed, I really wish he was on the episode
Ikr! I can’t believe they’ve let this happen more than once! it’s so cruel to Garrick, but also us!! a little disappointing as a viewer.
Flushed Away or Chicken Run with Garrick for retribution!
@@futuroid Chicken Run would be amazing omg
This movie actually made me comfortable with rats being in the kitchen for an 1hr51min. That's how good this movie is. Top tier.
they even show them washing their little rat hands!!!!!!
Ratatouille walked so Barry Keoghan could run.
But also.... Challengers
I feel like Michael Cera could be a good live action Linguini
Oh yes

Justice for Soul!! It was up there with Turning Red and Luca but it gets little to no love and it’s FANTASTIC
i can't believe they're not gonna tell "individual" stories now... individual like not white?? i wish i hadn't seen inside out 2 now. it was fine, but all these supposedly failed movies were wonderful
Completely agree! Soul was so amazing
I agree! I liked Luca and Turning Red a lot but I LOVED Soul. The connection to music, the second chance at life, the idea that you have a mentor amazing!
Lmao I learned paprika is Bell pepper because of Zach’s allergy 🤣 29:30

Coco is Pixar, We Don’t Talk About Bruno is a song from Encanto which is a Disney movie
Oh my god I love that Zach can only say "Jacob Elordi" in a Maggie voice ❤
Pixar using Turning Red, Luca, and Soul as their scapegoat to go back to “universal” ⚪️ was so disappointing.
Ps! Do not give up on the DCOMS!! They are truly a gift!
forever requesting Lisa Frankenstein 🙏🏻❤️😭
Fun Fact: Matty Healy admitted on stage that he was kind of an inspiration for a character in ‘Flushed Away’.
Fun Fact: Matty Healy just says things sometimes and like most rat-boy types cannot be trusted
NO FUCKING WAY
This movie taught me to use my nose more than my eyes to cook. More often than not I'm experimenting with dishes by smelling spices and herbs and adding them in. The way I went to the channel to check how the f there could be 264 episodes😂😂 I was like when did I miss the 200th?! I listen to all episodes 😂
The way I scrolled to check that number, hahaha
linguine is michael cera and i will not be taking questions at this time.
I need them to do Burlesque…definition of guilty pleasure!
I second this!!

Loved and appreciated that hug
So glad I found people who LOVE Ratatouille and A Goofy Movie as much as I do!
Did you guys not notice that the house Ego flashes back to is the old woman that the Remy and his family are living in the roof of in the beginning of the film!!
Barry Keoghan is a possum in a rat boy summer
Petition for rat centric movies for rat boy summer

KELSEY WHAT IN THE LITERAL 😂 pls be careful lolololol

Josh O'Connor would be perfect for the live action Ratatouille!!!!
LISTEN. If we’re talking underrated Disney rodents, y’all NEED to do “The Great Mouse Detective!”
Criminal you forgot Andrew Barth Feldman (the linguini in the TikTok musical) and Finn Wolfhard is also in the running for ultimate rat boy
That one guy from Smosh, super rat boy 😂
Trevor??????😂
LMAOOOOO
I need to know which one you mean 😂
Trevor? Spencer? Tommy? 😂😂😂
@@juliatheyherI think I was thinking Spencer?? The one with dark hair. But didn’t realize that there was more then one that was rat like haha
I’m so overjoyed by this video!!!I’m not even a full three minutes in and I’ve already said YES like five times to everything that’s been said😂
Zach definitely is getting hotter and he definitely is giving rat boy.
I need you guys to cover the first episode of food wars (the anime). it is the definition of a "guilty pleasure" and the food in it... you will understand.
The entirety of "Ratatouille" is better than "UP!" Only the first 10 minutes of "UP" are good, the rest sucks.
Go wash your dirty mouth out with soap! How dare you! Up is good!
Hard agree!!!!
Hard disagree, Up is one of my favorite Pixar movies. The first 10 minutes get a lot of (well deserved) credit, but nothing makes me cry like the "Stuff We Did" sequence towards the end.
The love for Bourdain makes my heart heavy but happy! If only he knew.
Please do Lilo and stitch. I love those movies.
Zach hair looks great
I'll never forget when I went to Paris for a school trip and ate at the ratatouille themed restaurant in Disneyland and it was the best meal I ate the whole time there 😂
PETITION FOR AN EDNA MODE BACKSTORY MOVIE❤️💛❤️💛
My top 3:
1. Ratatouille
2. Monster's Inc
3. Inside Out
this is kind of a longshot request but you guys should do the guardians of ga'hoole movie! it's animated by the studio that did happy feet, and the protagonist is voiced by jim sturgess who was jude in across the universe
Girl here to stan for Toy Story being on another tier I could talk about it forever
Nah, Zach is right - he’s a MOUSE! 3:39
So when are we getting a how to train your dragon episode????? 👀 should watch the sequels too, actually y’all should do an ep on the whole trilogy
39:39 the chips are from china btw (youve gotta try the chicken flavor, it just hits different ❤)
Turning Red and Luca are some of my most rewatched movies ever. I watch Luca so much that when I ask my fiance what he wants to watch before bed he says "not Luca" because I've made him so sick of it lol

FLUSHED AWAY Roddy, voiced by Hugh Jackman is my original rat boy crush. Talk about an underrated movie.
Request for red white and royal blue
It has a whole ride at Epcot, Zach. Lmao. 😅 I think that's the highest award.
I love Ratatouille! And Finding Nemo will always be up there in my top 3 animated films, but I loved when Kelsey spoke about the Toy Story movies, I've never gotten the hype and will confirm, not a dude. Thanks for covering this one, I love when y'all do the animated movies!!
I loved this movie so much I named my cat after Linguini
Just once, I'd love an episode featuring a kids' movie that my kid could watch. Zach is her favorite Try Guy. 😊
As someone who works in animation, thank you. Animation is film!
Zac is the OG rat boy
Coco is the best Pixar movie. I will die on this hill
Yes!!
Also the new Ratatouille ride at Disney World *chef's kiss* 💖 one of the best rides there!
Holes lets go. I had such a crush on zero. What happened to him.
I'm halfway in between it's about time, and being offended that you're only just now doing Ratatouille!
2:37 If you’re listening to this podcast for what it is, there are no stupid choices or questions.
Kelsey so real for the Toy Story comment bc I’ve never understood the fascination
I mean I LOVE it, but it's probably just that I love other movies MORE
How did they go the whole episode and not mention ratatouille the musical?!
Plz start putting these on 2nd try as well!!! ❤
turning red and luca are such amazing movies!! I've watched both multiple times. sad people dont appreciate them
I just had a conversation about my love for film including animation with my mom the other day. She always refers to them as kids movies, because I was talking about Bambi. There is so much beauty in that film and it's terrible that it can just be overlooked as art and just forced into the idea of children's media.
Serendipitously I wanted to make ratatouille a few days ago so did I save this episode to watch while I made it …. Absolutely! 😍 👩🍳
Did pixar really pigeonhole luca as a "personal story" bc of the gay themes - that are really only slightly implied and easily dismissable and never actually in the movie at all???
Somehow saw this 54s after posting - love this movie! 🐀🧑🍳

Josh O'Connor from Challengers is actually the current fancast for Remy
I need yall to do spiderverse (1 and 2) badlyy
zach is definitely towing the line between stuart little and remy
YALL you have to cook ratatouille after watching this movie, it takes some prep time but its actually pretty easy and just a great vegan dish
Also zach the bell pepper really isnt integral to the dish, literally it doesnt matter to exclude it from the recipe or replace it with some other vegetables- i often even use mushrooms
Speaking of f'able- Kelsey playing with that knife saying that unlocked something in me 💀
that holes commenter must be so stoked
requesting brother bear: week 2
UNDERRATED GEM
Yo Kelsey and Rainie! Calling me out for being a “true bro” for loving the Toy Story trio the most was so…
gender affirming! 😂 🥰🫶🏻🤣 thank you!
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
If doing a rat boy summer I’d recommend the amazing Maurice!
I think Kelsey would get a kick out of the animes Yakitate!! Japan and Food Wars! They're both very food centric and the judges always go on crazy journeys while taste testing.
Here to make my weekly plea for you guys to do Holes
I NEED you guys to do an episode on The Menu that movie is fucking amazing
30:20 - I learnt that through watching Julia Child cooking videos.
Dreamworks underrated film! Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron 🐎
My Pixar holy trilogy is Finding Nemo, Inside Out, and Coco
Oh my god they're gonna do Holes yessss !!

Hear me out Tom Holland as Linguine
"have you seen a rat? have you seen a man?" 🤣
I am 29F and I am in that Toy Story love conversation
I have an AB tattoo, this movie was amazing
