I found it better to use a hdmi 2.1 to display port cable to work with non hdmi 2.1 monitors. Was able to use 1440p at 120hz. Otherwise I had to use 1080p. Without it was about 1440p at 60-75hz. But that was just on my samsung.
To clarify the PS5 can run 4k 3840x2160 at 60hz. 2560x1440p at 120hz. 1920x1080p 120hz. But not all game support 120hz so it only reads 120hz if your playing a game that supports 120hz the rest of the time it reads 60hz. Thats why peope are mad that the PS5 cant run 4K 120hz all the time. Supposedly the PS5 PRO will reach this or PS6.
Incorrect - the current PS5 is capable of running 4K HDR at 120hz. There isn’t a current gen game made for the PS5 that truly accomplishes this seamlessly though.

I only knew about 4k. I ended up getting a Samsung 55 inch uhd hdr curve TV 4k 60hz 60fps...I was sick when I found out about fps. No a Monitor or TVs resolution is set and can't be bumped up but you can jump down in resolution. A 4K TV or Monitor can go down to 2k, 3840x2160p can go down to 2560x1440p and down to 1920x1080p. But a 1920x1080p TV or Monitor can never get to 2k or 4k.

Hz is how many times the image can be displayed in one second, like how many pictures can it take in one second and FPS how fast the image can move in one second.

You can use 2.0 with 1440p 120 hz Please note that you have to check 3 settings Monitor, PS5 and In game settings You can enable 120 hz on ps5 settings via 1440p but if your game doesnt support it, it will be 60hz

HDMI 2.1 is only fpr 4k tv/monitor, so it can run both 4k and 120 hz at the same time. Just remember 2.0 is for 1080p /1440p 120 hz 2.1 is for 4k 120hz Please note that you have to tweak 3 settings for it to work regardless of which monitor you have. . The monitor you have most likely doesn’t support 120hz. Hz= fps so check the model # on the back of your monitor if need be to do some research

120hz on a TV isnt 120fps. 120hz means the TV can redraw the image 120 times in one second. 120FPS means the image can move smoothly in one second.
